Hi - SAME thing happened to me. Same story on CL, different phone number. The phone number was 646-801-0813. I got the fake Pay Pal email and everything.

The whole time I was suspicious about the deal because the person wasn't speaking properly, like any normal person would. Misspelling words & not talking normal is a KEY SIGN it's probably a scam. Glad I found this post to confirm my suspicions! Thanks :)

Hi...same guy is trying to do the same to me for my CL item but phone number is different (202-573-8579). I always google first. ..same story exactly.  Randy rodriquez in the navy buying for his son etc...randy.rodriquez1@gmail.com...Hope this helps others. Thanks for posting the info guys.

i guess i have been pretty stupid. i also put a truck on sale on cl. was contacted by 3 people diffrent # wanting to buy they said they were navy engineers also, away at sea. they wanted  to pay by paypal. i have never heard of such a thing, got account and then they put more money then the truck was worth in the account. they said to cover the shipping costs. and fees not sure if this is boggus or not. looked more into it. not sure how to look up phone numbers. but reread the emails sent to me by the mail2 world. found out they want us to come up with the $950.00 for tansportation coast in order to get my payment.plus $50.00 for western union. then email them confirming i did so. i looked up mail2world.com. and couldn't find anything on them. i did find this web sight, with the exact statements i was going through.thank you for saving me.

Same as above. Sad really. We had a chance to sell the item to two people and my daughters decided that it should be him because he serves our country and he was getting it as a gift for someone else. Hate to have to give them this wakeup call. What a jerk

This guy answered to my craigslist ad I posted.It is a CVT transmission for a "Nissan Maxima".He claims to be a "Navy Engineer who is at sea and that his wants to surprise his son who needs the transmission.He said he can pay through Paypal via Email.I never used or knew anything about Paypal, and he told me to go online and register which I did.I texted him back that it was done and no sooner then he got the text,he claimed he already sent the money and an extra 500.00 dollars because the transporter would not accept Paypal.Thats when I decided to look up this number and lo and behold.> He's been scamming others in the same manner.Do not deal with this individual he is up to no good.

Wants to purchase my CL item.  I know he is scamming people because I always check out the phone number first.  Wanted to have a little fun with this dumb a$$ first.
His Story: He is in the Navy and wants to purchase for his son.  As the text messages go on the grammar gets alot worse and the demand that he can't get the transaction back so I will have to send the $900 in order to get my money for my item.  His email address is mailto: randy.rodriquez1@gmail.com
Sent me (in a fake email from PayPal) $1000 more than he should have for tranportation of the item and wants me to Western Union him $900 before I can get my money. Well he isn't getting his money and I'm enjoying wasting his time so that he doesn't hurt others with this scam.

So I sent him a fake MTCN# for Western Union and told him that Chelsea Hammond would have to show state ID and give a copy of that ID to the WU people, now just waiting for him to respond.

Keeps giving the BS of he has sent the money and I need to send him his money.  Too damn funny.
