Yee,  the odds that this call came from the US is slim. There have already been recent arrests made in India for this very same thing. They use common English names and spoof caller IDs. This scam is in fact coming from INDIA and has been going on for quite some time now. Some of the Arrests made have shown the leaders to be citizens of other countries, dodging the laws of their home countries by operating out of india.  When they arrest one, another jumps up and takes it's place.  Thank you for your post.

Just got off the phone to this number! Such a dodgy guy (Jack Roberts) his American accent raised an eyebrow already because I'm from UK so why am I receiving a phone call from the US??... He basically said that they have noticed malware on our computer too. He tried to get me to go on it but I said it doesn't belong to me. I ask what company he works for and he said Windows too. I took their number and said we would get back to them... They are going to be waiting for a long time!
Always say that you will get back to them. Check out the number out online and see if they are a scam. Thank god for these links. Better safe than sorry.

SCAM! Microsoft does not call users and also does not contract with others to do so.  There is no way for a tech support company to get "error messages" from Windows.  If you get the popup window about reporting an error after a program crashed and hit the send button that goes to Microsoft who uses the information to fix their software. It has nothing to do with viruses or malicious software on your computer.  Read about this scam on Microsoft's website:

"Jordan" says that he's from Windows Customer Care and that they noticed I have malware on my PC.  He's calling to help me clean it up, and wants me to log into my computer.  BEWARE - I know someone else who was called 6 months ago, and fell for it.  All their accounts were compromised and their computer hosed.  Caller ID shows as "private".
