Re- GettyImages Scam - Asking for a company name that is not ours, but wedding related. Girl, Tina pretending to be a bride marrying in the fall of 2013. Told me she was sending me something in the mail had a question to " see if you can do this".  Wouldn;t tell me by phone, tried to answer her wedding related questions, wanted to ask them via mail.  Asked her to e-mail, said at work not computer access. Called back, felt that she was lying about everything, found link to this scam.  Called, no TIna there, then woman answering screamed at me when I mentioned Getty Scam. She then accused me of stealing their images. I don't even know what they are talking about. Who are these people?

In short, they have contacted us before via mail. The name of the company on their letter is not ours. I have sent 3-4 certified letters asking them what company they are wishing to contact, they do not respond. But, continue to lie and threaten us, at a company that is not the name of the one in which they are sending threats. Where else can we report them, and how do I get them to stop.

After researching the net it seems pretty simple, if you show them your license they will go away.  If not pay up.  Guess its easier to call it extortion to worm out of paying the photographers.  Bet you download free music too.

Well then just show them Getty your license showing you are entitled to use the image and they should go away, right?

This is a collection agency attempting to collect on the Getty Images Scam.  For several years Getty Images has been sending small business owners notices that they are using images on websites that are owned by Getty Images.  The letter demands payment of $1,000 or more per image.

Getty Images does not send a cease and desist letter or any warning of a potential copyright infringement the only notice sent is a demand for payment.  When you refuse to pay Getty Images hires a company called NCS Recovery to collect on the bogus debt.  If you are contacted by NCS Recovery demand that this debt be validated.

This is in my opinion is extortion and hopefully this will lead to Getty Images being sued in a class action lawsuit.
