Dr Morgan just called me too. Same exact story without the twins and a different phone number. He talked about how many of his long term friends were not there for him but my CEO was. It sounds like the funeral was just one big CEO convention. Why would a CEO be helping to liquidate a warehouse? If mine wanted to help with that he would have delegated it to me. I have received a lot of calls similar to this over the years. Why is it always two inch packing tape?

1/29/2014...Same scam as all of the above (withheld #)....Dr. Morgan (an obstetrician) who just got out of the delivery room after delivering twins (17 hours)...dealing with the loss of his father who passed away 6 weeks ago.  Father sold to the school districts, going on 47-48 year...(anniversary in April).  Liquidating his supplies.  Had ahem 2" "stutter" packing tape.  Good friends with the CEO who was helping him in his warehouse....Said would have Bob Taylor call back, did the very next day 941-822-4372

I received a call yesterday from Doctor Jones saying he was friends with my boss, using his full name. He said his father had passed away and he had spoken to my boss and was told  to call me because he had cases of packing tape from his father he would sell at a discounted rate, throwing in the dispensers. Jim Bennett called this morning from 941-822-4372 to arrange shipping for tape I never agreed to purchase. I had already felt weird by the previous days call, so I called my boss to check out the story. My boss told me he didn't know a Dr. Jones. When Jim called me, I said "I can't believe the lengths someone would go to just to sell a few cases of tape and he hung up on me. I called back and of course got voice mail. I left a message that I was going to report the number to the FTC, which I did.

This person keeps calling saying they are Dr. Gail Adams and that they have talked to our CEO about selling some packing tape.  This is a hoax and I have reported them.

Dr. Susan Kelly called me also.  Pretty much the same story as above.  I googled "Target Paper Supplies" and found this thread.

Dr. Susan Kelley called me. Claimed that my boss (yes she knew his and my name)  told her to call me. Stated that her dad ("Mr. Kelly") and my boss were old friends. Claims that her dad passed away 6 weeks ago and that he was the owner of a company called "Target Paper Supplies". Had tape to get rid of, and that my boss said to call me, we would be glad to help her out. "Suspecting" that something was wrong I talked with my boss. He never heard of "Mr. Kelley" so we both knew it was a scam. Susan Kelley did tell me that I would be contacted by Jim Bennet from AP Shipping. When he called today I read him the riot act. He claims that he knows nothing about this at all except that he was suppose to line up a delivery of tape to me. Susan Kelly also told him that her and I were old friends too! After my call with him I googled "AP Shipping and Jim Bennet" and found your website. I called the number listed 941-822-4372 and sure enough, a guy claiming to be "Jim Bennet" answered. What a scam!!!!!

Stil at it today 09/18/2013.  Dr. Evans calling to sell tape! When I asked for a contact number where I could call her back, she gave me a disconnected Kansas city number.  I told her I'd call her tomorrow and she hung up on me.  Must have been the lack of sympathy I had for her deceased Dad.  Same scam as 10 years ago!

I got the Dr Gail Adams speech earlier this week. I finally checked with our president today. He told me it was a scam. I called the number and told them not to ship any tape. When the box arrives, our shipping clerk knows to refuse it.

Advanced version of this scam now. Set up caller dialed in through switchboard so I couldn't get the number on my ID. She said she was Dr. Gail Adams and her father was good friends with my CEO. Her Father had passed away and she was liquidating the business. Same rap about 20 odd cases of tape, etc. Then she asked if it would be OK for her to have some guy named Jim call me in a couple of days to arrange logistics. I played along and two days later I get a phone message to call back to 941-822-4372 to arrange things with Jim. I ignored it of course. Two more days and I get another message this time from Gail.."Please call Jim so I can get this wrapped up like your CEO wanted!".

Received same call. Initially from Mrs Goldberg, coughing and shouting in the phone, because she had cancer and lost her hearing aid.  Knew the president of my company by first name etc etc.
Jim Bennet from AP Shipping followed up next day with a voice mail.  Obviously I have not called back.

I had the same experience mentioned above with a Mrs. Goldberg who is winding down her deceased husbands business and going into Chemo for lung cancer.  Same exact details as above with this scenario.

I received a call from Mrs. Goldberg whose husband recently died of throat cancer after chewing tobacco for many years because he was a baseball player.  She herself now has cancer and is going thru chemo.  She is dissolving their small business and even giving her employees 6 months severance pay.  She was talking to the owner of my company and the owner agreed to buy Mrs. Goldberg's left-over packing tape (I should have known there that packing tape would be the last of my worries if I was so sick with cancer)...anyway, a well played story-line, she's getting a port surgically put into her chest for the chemo treatments, etc.  I don't understand exactly how they expect to make any money off of this but it is a heart-wrenching scam to listen to.  I hope they get what they deserve.

This is a scam.  Mrs. Goldberg claims to know the owner and that her husband passed away.  She is selling his business and needs to get rid of the packing tape, which she says was OK'd by the owner of your business.

Same as above, Dr. Rose is very persistant and really seems to know alot about my boss.  He has called here multiple times and refuses to take NO for an answer.  Keeps asking me to contact Jim Bennett at 941-822-4372, says he is in the Bloomington area.

Got the call from Dr. Stanley Rose.  He even had me paged by the switchboard operator, and while he told her it was not a medical matter still insisted that I'd want to take a call from our "Doctor".  Got the same story as above related to liquidating his father's business (passed away at age 94) and wanted to send us some packing tape at 1/2 what his father used to sell it for and we could deal with payment later.  Said he knew the owner of our company and lied without hesitation when asked directly if our owner had told him to call me.  We'd only have to pay $2.77 a roll!  He just needed to have Jim Bennett call me to make sure they had the address right.  Jim Bennett left me a message saying his mobile number is:  941-822-4372.

I received a call today from a "Doctor Stein" saying my boss' father was good friends with her father. She went on to describe how her father had passed away recently, (she paused for condolences, which I never gave), and that she had spoken to my boss and he told her to call me because she had 10 cases of packing tape from her father's business she was liquidating. She generously offered them at $2.64 a roll, throwing in the dispensers. She also said that she wouldn't bill us for the tape until December since we were doing her a favor. She said I would need to speak with Jim Bennett to arrange shipping. I stopped her and said I wouldn't agree to purchase anything and wanted her phone number. She quickly hung up.

I received a call yesterday from Doctor Rebeka Stein saying my boss' father was good friends with her father. Her father had passed away and she had spoken to my boss and he told her to call me because she had cases of packing tape from her father she would sell at a discounted rate, throwing in the dispensers. Jim Bennett called this morning from 941-822-4372 to arrange shipping, for tape I never agreed to purchase. I had already read these posts and it was pretty funny listening to him defend himself that he was just the delivery agent and would pass on to Doctor Stein that my boss does not remember having spoken to her when I confronted him on this scam.

Exact same MO as prior post. Supposedly a Dr. Green, supposedly of Mt.Sinai Hospital in NYC, supposedly a pal of our CEO, looking to "give away" 20 cases of packing tape "essentially free" - actually it added up to $2000. First the tape was located in Longbeach, CA, then in Monterey, CA. Total scam. Watch it.

Received the call yesterday from misses goldberg, same line about cancer.  said she just want to ship it there and had talked to the owner and not to worry about an invoice until much later after she's cure for cancer.  But, she was clear that she had 22 cases with 33 rolls in each and would only charge 2.77 a roll, but it would only be after her chemo *cough, cough* and she would be so grateful for not having to worry about this tape during her treatments.....

Same AP Shipping was to arrange for delivery.

This had scam written all over it, so I googled and found this thread which confirms it.

Received the same call others have listed here.  Jim Bennet from AP Shipping, working in conjunction with "Ms. Goldberg", supposedly an elderly lady with cancer, wanting to unload her late husband's packing tape.  These guys are really scum.  They should be tracked down and arrested for using cancer as a ruse to sell overpriced tape.  Unbelievable.

I received a call from a Dr. Stanly Rose with the same exact line as above, that his father owned a shipping bussiness, and the owner of my company spoke very highly of me, and that he told him what we were paying for a roll of shipping tape. He could sell us the stuff going thru probate and could sell them to us for half the cost and even throw in the dispensers. A Jim Bennet would be calling me the next day ( he is overseeing the process of disoling  inventory) to get arrangements to send shipping tape.

We received a call from a person identifying themselves at Jim Bennett from AP shipping.  He said that one of his clients, a Dr. Rose had spoken with one of our directors regarding some "tape".  Mr. Bennett said that Dr. Rose wanted to ship Cardinal Health the tape.

Cardinal's corporate security director investigated the situation and determined that this is an apparent scam attempt.  Cardinal Health will not address Mr. Bennett and will pursue advising the FBI of the situation.

According to others, the telephone number (941-822-4372), Mr, Bennett and AP Shipping are part of a scam or fraud.  We're not sure what they're trying to accomplish as we did not entertain their attempts to interact with Cardinal Health.

I received a private call 1/9/11 from 'Dr. Elizabeth Martin', who informed me that she had spoken with my boss over the weekend, and he had indicated that perhaps we could help them out with the liquidation of her husband's business.  Seems that her husband has suffered a stroke and she was closing his business of some 30 years.  Specifically, she offered to discount some packing tape to essentially retail, (generously throwing in the dispensers that were laying around for free), and said that she would have her bonded liquidation agency representative contact me to make arrangements.

Only one problem; my boss had no such conversation.

I received a follow-up 'private' call (voicemail message) from Jim Bennet, who indicated he was with AP Shipping and was following up on my conversation with 'Dr. Martin'.  He left his phone number as 941-822-4372.
