2013 Senior Class Gift = Sound Equipment for the amphitheater at the student center. They wouldn't even tell me this over the phone, they said they were going to "build a new amphitheater that would be more accessible to students." So after lying to me, they tried again to get my parents number and are still calling me after I told them I would not be donating.
tl;dr = They are legit, but you still shouldn't answer the phone.

University Advancement (the people who call asking for donations) has phone numbers that don't start with 824. See here: http://www.uadv.uci.edu/giving/top.asp#how.

No, all UC Irvine legitimate numbers are 949-824-xxxx. Even look at the website you provided. These numbers all come from 949-783-51xx, only the last 2 digits are ever different. That's not a UCI campus number.

just received another phone call from this number, asking for donation of $100 for 2010 Senior Class Gift at UC Irvine, i said i'm running out of money, then the person went down to $20 and accepted american express credit card. I told him I can't give out my credit card information over the phone without knowing who he is. Well, took me a while to get rid of him, people please be aware of this phone number.

Asked for the parents of David ______. Said she was calling students. Told her I was 33 years old and that I didn't live with them. She then asked for their phone numbers. I told her to f*** off. A friend of mine said that these people attempt to call relatives of students and SCAM them into paying fake bills. Beware
