Based on posting in other forums, this is just one of the many numbers used by a telemarketing operation "on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association".

We've been barraged almost daily over the last 2-3 weeks from calls from various tollfree numbers, some of which show up as "Alzheimer's" on CID, most of which don't.

866-855-8398
888-771-2959
877-213-1826
877-224-5803
951-281-3716

We donated to the Alzheimer's  Association a while back, and this seems to be the thanks we get, harassment from "hired-gun" telemarketers. My guess is that all the numbers are from the same hired-gun outfit, Infocision, calling "on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association." No more donations from this household!

They always call. I aaalways get calls from "alzheimers." and they NEVER answer or say anything when they call. i also get calls from unavailables and various toll free numbers as well. NEVER do they say anything when I answer!!! It's so annoying because I'm at work, and I'm busy, and it's never anybody calling!!! (it's kind of creepy actually). Leave me alone!!

Caller ID says "Alzheimers", number shown is 951-281-3716. Date and time of call - January 1, 2011 (that's right, 1/11/11), time 1:11PM. Kinda spooky. Stopped ringing before I could answer.

951 281-3716 is issued by Pac-West Bell.  If you would like to join in a lawsuit against them for allowing this to continue, post a comment here.

To the person who wrote this:

"Maybe they forget they call and call again and again and again and again.  It is a forgetting disease.  Maybe they put those poor soles to hard labor."

your comments about the people calling might be forgetful because of the disease is not funny.  I take offense to that.  This is a very serious disease that millions of people suffer from as well as their Caregivers, because I was a Caregiver and have never been through something so painful as to watch someone you love suffer from a disease that you can't do anything about.  This is not a laughing matter and I find your comments to be extemely belittling and insensitive.  You might have a Loves Ones suffering from it yourself and if joking about it makes it easier for you to deal with it so be it, I don't knock you for doing that about your own personal sitiation but to make blanket statements like that when other people don't deal with this disease by using humor is not an approrpiate way to go.

Moving on.  They call constantly.  I wrote to the Alzheimer's Foundation reporting them, because I was told that these calls are not from the Alzheimer's Association, so we must see what happens.  I think this is terrible to harrass people for a donation because that might actually turn someone off from helping those who need help, like the sufferers from Alzheimer's and their Caregivers.  I wonder if this is a true charity at all or if they are just trying to get someone's money.

Consider buying a cordless phone.  No, not a cell phone.  A cordless phone with a base station that plugs into the phone line and a cordless hand set you can carry in your pocket.

It won't stop the calls but you won't have to run to the phone to answer it.

Maybe they forget they call and call again and again and again and again.  It is a forgetting disease.  Maybe they put those poor soles to hard labor.  Make no mistake they call me 24/7.  its a pain to get up and run to the phone sometimes every twenty minutes. I am disabled and it does take an annoying toll on me since I have doctors returning calls and etc...

This number is from the Alzheimer's Foundation of America - Not the Alzheimer's Association.

I work for the Alzheimer's Association.  We do not do telemarketing calls like this, but the Alzheimer's Foundation does.

It's the Alzheimer Association. I donated several years ago as a memorial. Donations must be down because this number, and about 6 or 7 others also associate with Alzheimers Assoc. have been calling me, as many as 7 or 8 times a day. I contacted them to remove me from their calling lists, but am still receiving calls. I was told by Alzheimer's Assoc. to "answer the call and tell them to remove" my name from their lists, but I imagine there will be pressure to donate again, even as I try to get the calls to stop. Hence, I'm not answering.

Received call this morning just before 9am. Thanks Alzheimer's. Not the organization I thought they were. They prey on the caregivers that take care of their love ones. Not this one. No more, no more, no more. Now where did I put my car keys?

I found out the Tuffs University in Boston had a supplement study for seniors and called to check it out. Gave them all my information including my phone #. Next day I started getting calls from various organizations asking for donations. One was to leave my body parts to them after death. This one was Alzheimer's. I was going to volunteer but not if Tuffs is going to make my info public without warning me first. Besides I've already decided to have my body parts dissolved in potassium hydroxide and whatever is left used to fertilize food or flowers that need a helping hand.

No, they don't do it themselves, they simply hire it out to a boiler-room operation.

There are two other numbers that call that have an ID "Toll Free". This one has an ID of "Alzheimer". I called their main office to report these calls and the lady that answered told me that they never solicit by telephone only by mail.

This number calls me three or 5 times a day or so - just called at 10:30 pm CST. I don't ever answer, but did look up the number online and someone on another message board says this is the Alzheimers Assn., which I've donated to in the past. I'm on Do Not Call lists but maybe if I've donated before, the org uses that loophole

Go to Best Buy and buy a phone system that allows you to put 30 numbers into the BLOCK LIST and it will ring once, then disconnect the caller.  It is amazing how much quieter dinner hour is around our house.  2 phones, one you plug into the phone jack and another you can put anywhere in the house as long as it's plugged in to an outlet.  Mine was $80 but think I heard the clerk say they were going up to $100 because they have had so much demand for them.  Try it, it really works.
