If you have ever conducted business online (applied for a payday loan, filed your taxes, etc.), your information is out there to be hacked, stolen and sold on the internet black market to these criminals.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

Thanks for this information. How do they get all of your personal information. How effective will the state attorneys office be in stopping these type of scams. They appear to be coming from overseas, atleast the heavy accent gives me that impression

I received a call from a Steve Cruise. he claimed to be calling me from the State Attorneys Office of Damon Marshall. He alleged that he had an affidavit with 3 counts on it and I was going to jail for check fraud, theft by deception and some bad check writing. He wanted to verify that I still worked at the company I work at and he had the name and address of my employer (not to mentioned he keeps calling me there). He has my current mailing address and social, this scares the heck out of me. He did mention that the police will be at my door by noon to arrest me. I find this to be just appauling! I have never taken out a payday advance loan with ANYONE! how did this person get my information! It makes me feel very good to read that others have spoken to this same jack a**. Some of the numbers he has called me from are:916-500-4945, 312-473-6993, 914-979-7201, 530-213-3414, 503-213-3414 (he calls anywhere from 20-30 times a day every day, 6 days a week). So if you get a call from any of these numbers its him, very heavy Arabic accent. I am contacting the local authorites today. If you do a google reverse look up on the phone number, you will see that these numbers he is calling from are a landline, he's calling you from his living room

They're scammers trying to scare people into paying debt they don't owe.  Debt is civil, not criminal so no one is going to be arrested.  And if you were being sued, the court process server would just show up and hand the documents to you - you wouldn't get a heads up that he was going to come to your home or place of business.  

Do NOT pay any caller money unless they MAIL (not email or fax) a debt validation letter proving you owe the debt to them and that they are licensed to collect said debt in your state.  If they refuse to mail this documentation, they are in violation of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act).  Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  When they call back, tell them that all calls they make to you are being recorded for multiple violations of the FDCPA.

same here. They have been calling me off and on for 4 years - latest number now is 3103614183 - claim to be Justin Harris from the Attorney Generals Office - threatened me, calling me at work wanting to talk to my employer, says ill will befall me if I do not pay them - I asked for their address and they won't give it. complete scam - if they call just keep telling them that their call is being recorded and that you have contacted the FBI about them and their scam and hang up

This Damon Marshall claiming to be an attorney and his group of crooks need to be stopped. They are getting our personal information from somewhere and trying to get hard working people to give them the money that they have worked for.  These people have a Pakistani or India accent. They told me that I owed a loan with a company named Cash Advance USA.  I never got a loan with this company.  I called back several times and he finally told me he was blocking my number from calling him and to F***K me.  State Attorney General and law enforcement need to get busy and stop these scammers.

i have had 12 phone calls from this dude say i was going to be arrested indian and them some guy trying to pass his self of as a hispanic

I receive these messages all the time. I just received a call at 11:30 at my work number. The bad part is not only can you tell that it is a script they are reading from I heard the guy on the phone ask someone else, ok so now what do I say? They are rude and never stop calling.

I got call from this same number every day. Today, he left a message and told me I should call him if not I would be put to jail and should have an attorney right now. He wanted me to call him back, but why should I? Scam....he could not even speak straight english maybe he is a foreigner. OMG!!! It is harassment.  What shall we do with these kind of people?

I also got like 5 phone calls from this number with one message that said I needed to call back right away and if I didn't that it would be against me and good luck and I couldn't even understand what this guy was saying and he gave me the same number as everyone else is talking about the 951 number. But than like 10 mins later they called me back saying that I had to pay &499.00 for a loan that one I never even got and he said I did.  And when I asked him what bank this loan had went to he said they can't give that info and when I asked when he wouldn't say. Than when I said I would not pay it he said that the sheriff depratment would be at my job tomorrow to arrest me. He even knew my jobs name and my home address. And before I could say anything else he says that I will be arrested since I couldn't resolve this matter now pretty much yelling it and than hang up on me and when I tried to call back to try cuz at that point I would pissed that this guy was yelling and I want to give him a piece of my damn mind no one would answer and like an voice answering thing came on with people talking  in the back around that you really couldn't understand and than beeped. Oh and this guy said his name was Jose and on the message I got said his name was jake Taylor. Such b***s*** and scam. I just really hope they don't try and call me emplore. This is just sad that they are doing this!!!!!!!!

I too just recieved a call at work from the Damon Marshall blah blah, I also got very rude with him and asked him tons a questions.  He finally hung up then he call back and says listen you dirty b****.  REALLY.   This is insane that people actually do this.  Do people really fall for this crap.  

So I having been palying his game for awhile I call him ( which he knows my voice now) and try to sale him all kinds of "fun" items.

I RECEIVED THE SAME PHONE CALLS TODAY THE FIRST WAS FROM THE 202 NUMBER TELLING ME THAT I HAD 3 FRAUDLENT REPORTS AGAINST ME AND THAT HE WAS THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THEN HE ASKED ME TO VERIFY MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER TO WHICH I HANGED UP, AND HE CALLED AGAIN AND ASKED IF I HUNG UP ON HIM AND I HUNG UP AGAIN WITHOUT RESPONDING. ABOUT A HOUR LATER I GOT A CALL FROM THE 951-468-5357 I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND SOME OF WHAT HE SAID BUT HE DID END WITH THE POLICE WAS ON THEIR WAY  TO MY HOME TO ARREST ME. HOW IN THE HECK DID THESE PEOPLE GET MY INFORMATION? AND HOW CAN I STOP THESE CALLS? I'VE ONLY HAD MY PHONE NUMBER FOR A WEEK.

I received the same call threating to sue me as well as he had my account number and was gonna send the sherrif departmen after me I told him I have read about the scam and he hung up and I tried to call back but could not get him back be c areful everyone I also would like to see our government do more about scams like this

I got a strange phone call this morning saying, I was being charged with three counts felony including check fraud from the state of California..... how I live n Chicago.. not to  mention I'm a single motherhard worker who gas never gotten into trouble. Something has to be done I don't want to be wondering if I'm  going to jail or something happening to me bcuz of this awful harassment.

Person with heavy accent calls and leaves harassing messages, calling himself Michael Johnson. I am reporting and making others aware. This needs to stop!

Just rec'd call from this number and was told to call Damon Marshall, an atty  -  as soon as possible.  I called the number - told him I filed bankruptcy and he was nasty telling me "oh yeah...you tell them when they come to arrest you because payday loans are not covered in bankruptcy"  I have checkecked with my lawyer and it is covered.  If you have payday loans or thought of getting payday loans, stop!  In my opinion, they should all be shut down.  I had some payday loans.  I was desperate.  I could not pay them off.  I know this will haunt me for the rest of my life.  I still keep getting calls at work.  In this case, I tried to give my lawyer's name and number and they told me I was the one that had to call this goof ball.  I called because I wanted to get them to stop calling me.  That is when he told me I will be arested....omg will this ever end?

I received a call from this agency yesterday and was advised to contact Marshall and I have tried calling this number and get no answer i have contacted the local sherriffs dept and they have told me that it is a scam and that is not the ways things are handled that this is a threat and they are trying to get information they also told me that 2 law officers were on their way to arrest me and would be there in 20 minutes never showed.  I am awaiting input from the local sherrifs office as of what to do if they contact me again.

I just received a call from paralegal Sam Davis. He said there were 3 suits against me and I needed to call Damon Marshall . He told me if Damon's line was busy to call back in 4 minutes!. He called my cell and my work number. This guy's phone was breaking up and he sounded Middle Eastern or Indian; it was difficult to understand him. He did know the last 4 digits of my social security number, which was very unsettling.

I got the same phone call saying that the sheriff department was going to be at my house and place of work in an hour. my guy was Damon Marshall and he was an attorney with cash advance but he refused to tell me anything about the account i was being sued for.

Hey, this same thing happened to me.  I was woke up at 8 am by someone who doesn't speak english stating that the state of arizona has filed criminal charges against me and that I need to call this number 951-468-5357 and speak to Danon Marshall.  I called the number and got a click.  I was really frightened by this as 2 payday loan companies started debiting my account  and I had received no loan money from them what so ever.  This must be some sort of scam.  They debited my account for 29.95, 30.00 and 99.95.

Got the same message....I'm so beyond tired of it dd they say they were sending u to jail if it wasn't paid by today?
