I received a call today from Mr Curtis Jackson..phone # 951-821-6843....stating that I owe $643.00 and said law officials would be to get me in 45 minutes and serve me with paper work and that there was a warrant out for my arrest...mentioned he had an affidavit and court documents.  I could hardly understand him because of his accent (not american).  I talked to local officials and they called the number and he started back tracking what he said to me....at the time I was scared because I didn't know what was going on....he threatened me with being arrested and being in jail for 9 mths!!!!  THIS IS A SCAM...HE ALSO KNEW MY ADDRESS, WHERE I WORK AND THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER.   The only thing is he didn't ask me to send any money---he was just scary and rude!!!!
He also states that he is a lawyer and wants to know if you have your lawyer ready!!

yes same kept calling I tried to see what he wanted but he would actually never say I even played along for a little while and he wanted me to call a curtis jackson to get more details, I asked him why he can not tell me and he said his job was just to inform me that I had legal charges against me. I asked him what charges he said I had to call another number that his supervisor was busy, and yes he said he was calling from cali state attorney office. a very bad attempt at a scam being the caller did not speak english, he did not like the fact that I asked him if california is in such bad shape they are hiring non english speaking prople to call,

Our guy's name is Robin Walker, working for Curtis Jackson of the California criminal system.  He is of a different nationality because you can't understand but about every 3rd word.  He calls and calls many times a day.  Even if you hang up he just calls back.   He is however, very rude and he calls you a criminal because you are harboring a fugitive of criminal activities.  We called our corporate office to tell them what has happened and found out that it has happened at other locations using other employee names.  They give you these phone numbers to call back and all you get when you call is one lone beep and then nothing.  The last time he called he did say that I would be arrested along with the employee since I was not cooperating

My husband received a call from "Don Rogers" stating he was from the state attorney general office.(They would call non stop over and over until they spoke to him). The guy had a strong accent and  Stated he had a claim against his ssn. if he did not send $600.00 in to him in 30 min. They would be sending law enforcement to come get him. My husband went and talked to the local law enforcement and found out that this was a scam. When they called back he told them he knew it was a scam and they made threats on him and on kidnapping his wife and kids. This has made me in a nervous wreck! We are getting our phone number changed, just wish I had peace of mind to not let it get to me.

Claimed to be calling from the attorney general's office and threatened arrest warrants.  Caller was looking for someone with the same last name but different first name.  Obviously either a scam or some very unscrupulous debt collectors. (We don't have any unpaid debts - just a name that is vaguely similar, apparently, to someone who does.)

Thank God for caller ID.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

I got a similar call on Friday, a David whatever the last name was (I couldn't understand it because he had a serious accent) left me a message on my answering machine, stating the he was from the SC attorney general office. It scared me because he knew my name and address. I called the number back and there was a Don Rogers on the phone. He told me that I had did fraudulent activities with my bank concerning some United something (couldn't really understand that part). He wanted me to send him $200.00 within 30 minutes or he would have me arrested at my job. I hung up, they he called back from another number. The number was the same as mine except the last digit. My daughter answered the phone and hung up. It was a scary experience. He knew too much of my information. I couldn't rest until I found out who this was. When I called the first number I got no answer, the second number had been disconnected. I am glad I looked the number up on the internet.

I got a call from the same number on Friday evening, a guy named Dave left a threatening message on my answering machine earlier in the day. Frantically I called back, and talked to a Don Rogers. He said that he was from the attorney general office in my state, and I did fraudulent activities with my bank, wanted me to send him 200.00 within 30 minutes, or he will have me arrested at my job. I hung up and ten minutes later he called back from another number, the number was the same as mine except for the last digit. This time my daughter answered and hung up. I tried calling both numbers back. Didn't get an answer from the 951 number and the last number they supposed called from was disconnected. It was a very scary experience for me. They knew my address, and ss#. I haven't rested all weekend. I am glad that I decided to look this number up on the internet.

I called him out on his $*@T, called him roughly 15 times, in a row, and right now, im waiting for the CA ATTY generals office to open, and will inform them of this person{s} activitys, im pretty sure they are in violation of one, or more state and fed laws, as they are inpersonationg and misrepresenting themselves in the name of state and fed agencies. I will be reporting the address provided in my reverse lookup, just for some added fun on my part....
