Got a call from this number, Outplacement Services of America. Same comments as everyone else, they got my resume from online, said I was a good fit etc, etc. Set up a meeting to discuss financial planning. As I always do I check a website called RipoffReport.com. A former employee writes a lenghty report on this complete ripoff and scam. Check it out.

I just wanted to inform everyone that Outplacement Services of America had such bad press due to misleading business practices, they changed their name to Trident. The whole operation is a scam to lead you to believe that they are going to provide job leads and even interviews. In most cases, they will lead you on until a financial planner can meet with you at your home, capture your 401k and then you will hear nothing from them again. The job service side is only in place to get them in the door.

Hey guys, I used to work with O.S.A. and then I left about 16 months ago or so. I was with them from the very beginning. They called me about 2 weeks ago and it got me thinking about how they f*** people over. On the spot I decided to let them "scam me". I had so much fun with Jim. What a tool. I make about 65-85k/ a year in debt collections and I really do have about 280k in savings because I spend almost nothing because I rent a cheap a** apartment and rent out my house! God I had fun, I led him on so damn hard like I want to do it but I dont know. But I played it against him cause I know that he sells fixed annuities. So I saved that till the end. At the end I told him all of my money are in fixed annuities with Allianz which KILLED his chances at making a sale! LOL I had so much f***ing fun! I paid for my entire house cash and I told him that, and he tried to get me to take a f***ing loan against the equity because I have 743 credit and he told me I could get it no problem. I was thinking the whole time no f***ing kidding. I told him I wasnt interested in that. I actually had to tell him to leave because he wanted the 155k from my home equity that he would not give up. Either that or he is that stupid and just didnt get the 200 or so hints I was dropping before I kicked his a** out! I was laughing so hard because I saw when he came into my apartment that he thought I had no money. God that was so f***ing great. They do judge you on where you live. Then he saw my 57" tv, solid oak dining room table, expensive kitchen ware and leather couches i bought remaindered but looked like they cost me 10K. When he got into the living room he was lit up like a shchool kid! Lol. A few days ago after they had given me the run around like I knew they would(I AM WORKING FULL TIME I WAS NEVER OUT OF WORK. I JUST PUT RESUMES ONLINE BECAUSE HR REPS FROM COLLECTION AGENCIES LOOK AT THEM A LOT AND REALLY DO HIRE OFF OF CAREERBUILDER AND MONSTER). What I did next made me so happy! I contacted the attorney Generals' office and they had informed me that they are building a case against Outplacement Services and they told me they had changed their name to Trident or Triton or some s**t like that. Apparently they have coaxed people into moving millions over the last 2 years and the F.B.I. is on their a**es now but they havent issued subpoenas yet. Something about getting the affidavits -- i think i spelled that right -- from the former employees. From what I was told they are also working with Florida, Michigan, and Ohio I think... there may have been more but I was too excited to listen to everything. Oh god these people are getting what they deserve. Jessica at the A.G.'s office told me that they could be liable up to the total damages they have taken from people plus their financial reps may be up for similar situations. Hell, I think they know what is going on but dont care.

So I cancelled their services referencing the dialogue on this site ... I sent a one line email (RE: 'Please remove me from your program ... see: >http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-952-448-2397<')... look at their reply
... I found it very long winded and unprofessional:

Pete,

I can definitely cancel our services at this time.  No problems with that.  I do want to clear up a couple of things.  I never stated that you filled out one of our "applications," as we have none.  I grabbed your resume from the net just as we do for all our clients.  And, I got your email about a different location, but I leave the office at 4:30pm central time, 5:30 your time, as I also explained to you.  So I'm replying now.  I am amused by your conspiracy theory, but the fact is, I explained our services clearly and you agreed.  If you didn't want help finding a job, you could have just told me.  As far as the financial planner is concerned, I don't understand how you could be surprised when I talked about Brian coming out to see you on two occasions, explained what he did, and even asked, "we feel strongly that if Brian could present you with a better alternative to your existing financial plans, that you may consider working with him. Is that a fair statement?"  That's the question I asked, and you said, "yes, that's fair."  We're a company that looks for jobs and does financial planning, there's no secret there.  We don't want it to be a secret.  What's funny is that you haven't even been through our process, and you think we're a scam.  Very interesting.  Feel free to call me at anytime if you so choose to work with us down the road!

Best of luck!

I am in the Cleveland area and have been out of steady work since 2002 ... Outplacement Services of America also contacted me claiming that I must have filled out their application at one time (a lie). Here's the email that raised my eyebrows ... they never replied back when I stated that home would not be a good meeting place since we have a liability with two watch dogs. Here's the email ... following is the email I sent to my Plain Dealer reporter Sheryl Harris:

Pete,

Thank you for taking the time to talk to me today.  I wanted to formally welcome you as a client on behalf of our career transition firm.  As I mentioned on our phone conversation, there is a lot of opportunity for you at this time and we are excited to work with you on your career search.  I just wanted to let you know that I have updated your profile in our office and your resume has been forwarded to Sarah Nelson, our leading internal recruiter.

Ms. Nelson will contact you Tuesday at the number you confirmed to get started on the job-search process!  Please remember, Outplacement Services of America is committed to providing you the highest level of service during your career transition, and I would be glad to hear your feedback throughout the entire program.

We do have you scheduled to meet with Brian Kuczynski on Monday, August 4th at 11am, at your residence.  Look forward to Sarah's call and once again, thank you for allowing us to assist you at this time.  We will be in touch soon!

Sincerely,

Eric J. Nordquist

Hi Sheryl:
I was still looking for work and these guys called ... apparently they are recruiters and financial planners with supposedly no cost obligation. Apparently found my resume on line (what a risk!). I initially said yes to using their services but now .... check out their email (financial advisor comes to your home) and this was an interesting forum:

Wonder what you think of this? I did not realize I was so much at risk with my personal information out there on Monster and Careerbuilder ... etc and anyone claiming to be a recruiter getting into these infos!

All the best,
Pete .....

Suggest that if you are in the Cleveland, OH area you also give Sheryl a head's up ... her email is (less the brackets):

These scammers have found a way to bypass the no-call directory. A call to the Attorney General's office is in order as well. Thanks for a great forum ... it saved me.

Received a call from Kevin Hansen @ 4:41 PM on 6/23/08.  His message stated he as from Outplacement Services of America.  His return number is 1-800-793-0750 X104.  He answered, but I hung up on him.  Website for Outplacment is http://twincities.kudzu.com/merchant/13290492.html.  Its probably a scam!
