I received a call from this number just now (2:20pm 4/1/08).  I picked up the phone and all I heard was a dial tone.

I suspect this is a machine calling people at home, to verify that someone actually answers the phone.  The results will probably be used to compile a list of "good" numbers for a telemarketing campaign, to be implemented at a later date.  I don't know that for sure, but it seems like the only reasonable explanation.

I recieved a phone call from this number as well. Its says S. Smith on my caller ID. When I answered the phone and said hello it just hung up. I dont know what the deal is.

Update on my last posting.  I was able to locate the carrier for this person but I'm still getting the same temp disconnected.  I found it using a reverse phone look up service.

I keep getting the same thing no msg then I call the # back & says it has been temporarily disconnected.  I work for the local phone co & that recording only comes on when the bill has not been paid.  I hope next time I'm home but its annoying.

i've received many call from this # but has never left a voice mail..when i call the # back it tells me it is "no longer in service"
