I am a representative with BrightStar Credit Union. We have received several calls from people who received this message. The message is a scam. BrightStar did not send the message. Fraudsters sent the message to people (people who are not our members as well as some of our members) hoping to steal card information. BrightStar member data remains safe and secure; our data has not been compromised. But the fraudsters decided to use our name in an attempt to trick some of our members. They are also using the names of other banks and credit unions. As a general rule, you should NEVER provide your account or card information to anyone you do not know. If you receive a message like this, ignore it. Do not respond to it, and do not call the number which they ask you to call. If you did provide your account information to someone by mistake, contact your financial insituton to report it. If you suspect fraud on your account, contact your financial insitution. i received a text from 910-578-9502 saying "BRIGHTSTAR C.U. ALERT: you CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please call 954-684-0492.  I have a car loan with Brightstar but not a CARD with them.  BIG SCAM.  Tried to call back both numbers and I got a recording "This person is not accepting calls at this time"

I just recieved this message too, From the 954-684-0492 from Summit Bank with a Cell phone to call back about my Account card being cancled.  Being that I've never heard of Summit Bank, and I live in Washington and the Cell # was from Oregon, it wasnt had to figure its a scam.

BEWARE THEY TEXT FROM DIFFERENT #'S......954-684-0492 AND 954-591-6071............I LIVE IN FT LAUDERDALE, THEY SURE AS "SH-T" NEED TO WATCH THEMSELVES..........CALLS ACTUALLY COME IN FROM #'S BEGINNING WITH AREA CODE "910"

I also just got the same text.  Scam since I don't have an account with BrightStar Credit Union.

I received a text stating my Brigh Star CU card had been deactivated and to call this number. I don't have a card with this Credit Union, but I called the number anyway. When I called this number, it didn't go through at first, then I called back and after a couple strange clicks it picked up with a recording,  telling me to enter my 16 digit account number. This is obviously a scam to get people to give them their account numbers.  People need to go out and get real jobs and quit stealing from honest hard, working people. You people are slime. The phone number is came from was 910-578-9062.
