Here is a reminder for scammers and unscrupulous collectors:

A Plano-based debt collector, which federal regulators call ?the largest debt collector in the world,? has agreed to pay a $3.2 million civil penalty to settle allegations by the Federal Trade Commission that it harassed consumers with ?allegedly illegal debt collection calls.?

In settling with the FTC, Expert Global Solutions, formerly known as NCO Group, ?neither admit or deny any of the allegations? in the government?s complaint.

The FTC said the penalty is ?the largest ever obtained? by the agency against a third-party debt collector.

In its complaint, the FTC said Expert Global Solutions and its subsidiaries violated the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the FTC Act by ?calling consumers multiple times per day, calling even after being asked to stop, calling early in the morning or late at night, calling consumers? workplaces despite knowing that the employers prohibited such calls, and leaving phone messages that disclosed the debtor?s name, and the existence of the debt, to third parties.?

The FTC said the companies ?also continued collection efforts without verifying the debt, even after consumers said they did not owe it.?

Called me just now, I dont answer calls from numbers I dont recognize, glad I didnt. They didn't leave a voicemail. I think it's funny that there is something online about this. I am with Karen Holland on this one MAKE IT STOP!

they calld me this morning. I answerd and they hung up. Then icalld back and it said somethng about havin difficulty and to wait on a rep.

I am getting calls almost daily. I do not answer numbers I don't know.

I talked to the guy and he asked if it was me (correct info because I was looking online for colleges). He asked if it was "Michael ***" and I said he has the wrong number. He apologized and said he'd remove the number. Now I still get the calls, but it will only ring one or two times on their end and they hang up. Now I just hang up on them first to further my point of ending this...

Just got a call but my phone disconnects- says 'call not allowed'. so maybe it's some kind of block feature i have. sometimes schools from other states are calling and at least they'd leave a message. this one doesn't.

I keep getting calls from this number as well. At first I ignored it, but then I got frustrated and decided to aswer. They didn't say anything and just hung up, so I called back. I got put on hold!!!! They keep saying, "Your call is very important to us. Please hold for the next available agent. All calls are answered in the order in which they are received." I haven't gotten an answer yet and I'm about to hang up..

I got the call because someone named Larry signed up to get more info about going back to school... I kindly explained that though they had the right number, my name is APRIL, and I know no Larry.  They told me that they'd delete my number from the list.  I've gotten at least 3-4 calls PER DAY on my cell phone, and I've asked them every time to remove my number from their list.  I finally asked for a manager, and the guy just hung up.  I called the number back and have been sitting on hold for more than an hour so that I can talk to a manager, but I'm gonna have to hang up soon... I do kinda have a life too!  It's really funny that they keep telling me that my call is very important, don't hang up!

I get calls from this number several a day and when I answer they hang up!!!

I keep receiving calls from this number, 954-933-4300. Three times a day. Nobody speaks when I answer.

I get repeated calls from this number at least 3 a day..when I answer no one answers me so I quit answering. Just not I tried to call it back and got a recording telling me to please enter the # to be removed from the calling list --- but still not saying WHAT calling list!

I've experienced the same thing as many here.  Numerous calls, no message, no one on the other line when I picked up.

just got a call and they didnt leave a message. I also was online looking to further my education, so I guess that's what it must be.

It's Education connect, They are a place dealing with helping you get info on furthering your education, I filled out something for a loan and I guess requested info on it. I told the man that I was just looking for loans and that I'm still in school, he wished me the best of luck and we hung up. Nice guy.

I got a phone call at 12:37... I've looked for info on some colleges lately but nothing in Florida, I use to live in Alabama close to Pensecola but no where near this place. I didn't answer and I waited for a Voicemail to pop up, when one DIDN'T I called the number back, it says the number is temporarily unavailable... I do recall numbers from Florida always calling me saying I've won the lucky drawing and it being that scam for a cruise or whatever...

This number keeps calling. I just rejected the number on my phone. But I am sick of all these unknown numbers calling. That's like the fifth one. I even tried removing my number from the telemarketing list, and it still keeps happening. Very frustrating.

This number calls repeatedly, but will not answer or leave a message. Returning the call gets a message that says the number is temporarily unavailable (?) then hangs up.

I got a call from this number as well, repeatedly. When I pick up, nobody says anything and then they hang up. When I don't answer they don't leave a voicemail. And when I try to call it back the number doesn't work. It's out of service or something or says I've dialed an invalid number. My first guess was that it could be someone calling me from a phone card. They have called me 4 or 5 time in the past week.
