This number is legitimate. CitiBank handles Staples retail cards. My most recent account payment was not credited to my Staples account, which was an error on their part. Yesterday I was notified and I faxed them a copy of the cancelled check, but I am told it may take 48-72 hours for it to be straightened out. Meanwhile a "past due" still shows up in their system. This should all work out in a few more days. But this number (which I called back) is indeed legitimate and is not a phishing scheme.

I have one for you they have been calling for days so I called them back to see what they were calling about. They said I was one dollar behind on my payment for 13 days.I said you called me for a dollar and hung up.

I was called today. Same thing, no message. I am current on all of my accounts and do not have an account with Citibank so DGL's description is likly.

Citibank has several clients they make collection calls from. So the number could come from any of a number of people you owe money too. The trick is trying to figure out who you owe might money to since Citibank doesn't give you a clue as to who they are collecting from. Unfortunately, if they have the wrong number and are trying to reach someone else through your phone number, i can't figure out how to get them to stop, since they do not try very hard to actually reach you.

This is a call from CitiBank regarding an Office Depot credit card. They call numerous times a day and never leave a message.

I get calls from this number several times a day. they never leave a message. the don't talk. They call my home phone number, the phone rings one time and then they hang up before you can answer the phone, then they immediately call my business phone number, stay on the line for a few minutes and then just hang up without leaveing a message.Occationaly I have heard a males voice on the other end wisper, "shh. I'm on the phone, they can hear you." Sounds like a lazy mans way of making their collection call quota. I called the number back on my caller ID and get Citibank. there is no way to contact them unless you know exactly what account they are calling about, and who they are calling for. They haven't even a clue if they are calling the correct number in the first place, because they are not really trying to make a real contact. A waste of their time and irritation for anyone who is so unfortunate as to get on their call list. Since the caller does not give you any info what-so-ever so that you can know if this call was even ment for you, and they call every single day, (this includes calling you on more than one phone number if they have it), but apparently don't want to talk to you or let you know who they are or why they are calling, then this is a harrassment call and is in direct violation of the 'Fair Debt Collection Act'!

same as all of the above

Calls at all times of the day even on weekends. This is very bothersome and harassing since it wakes my whole family up when it is not necessary. There should be a way to block these harassing calls - especially since they are not to smart about who and why they are are calling. If something is that important and they can get a phone number then they ought to be able to get the address for notification of something. If they bought the account from someone then they should have received the correct information to contact by mail(NAME, ADDRESS,etc.) Makes someone wonder just how much info they have - or if they really have purchased an account from someone. Are these people just LAZY or just that DISRESPECTFUL?!

received a call on my cell phone from this # as well. did not answer but they did leave a voicemail. it stated in a professional woman's voice that it was from citicards about my oil account?? i am more than certain i don't have any oil accounts. then it switched to a young guys voice asking if david was there, he was confused apparently that he was talking to my voicemail(btw my name is not david). no clue, but seems very sketchy, going to call citi and ask

This number belongs to Citibank. While you may not havr a direct Citibank account, they have bought many company's credit card accounts - e.g. Sunoco, Radio Shack, Home Depot, Etc. While they may not have owned your creditor's accounts when you applied, they've purchased the debt since - and are probably calling regarding a late payment, or other info related to your account.

Getting calls on cellular phone. I thought it was illegal for collection agencies to call cellular phones?
With the economy in such dyer straights, they have audacity to irratate the he-- out of anyone! Regardless of what they owe, or don't owe!
It certainly doesn't pay to be self-employed or a small business when "our government" has been working against small business owners since 2008! There are limited jobs, no security, no reasonable health care costs, and creditors worry the he-- out of everyone (who are just trying to survive). If folks had money, they would be paying their bills! Bank of America, Chase, Citi, and GE, who received huge bailouts, are moving along. They are purchasing oil wells, and other commodities, and haven't paid back their bailouts, but manage to be extremely hypocritical!
Why shouldn't we be making calls to them, as American Taxpayer Collecters?
Where are the bailouts for American's who are struggling to put food on the table, pay utilities, mortgages, and meds? I don't see any help from our government. Won't be long before a millions more will be living on the streets! I wonder what they have planned for this problem? More collectors?
