Daily calls from 973 2737 7848     no messages     calls frequently!!!!!!!

If i donbt recognize a number, i pick up the receiver and put it down in the couch cushion -- let them waste a call.  This ESCO Power Company is the 3rd telemarketer who calls

Get calls from number several times a day.  Clearly a scam.  I'm always surprised at how many people fall for these scams.  I'm not even a ConEd customer!  I'm going to try with NYC#3 is doing:  call its remove-from-register.

You are right! Other pairs of "xx" digits are 93 and 27.

Unfortunately, I came to realize the same thing?that all these numbers pertain to the same spammer?once I made the mistake of calling back and pressing 1 to get my name removed (ha!). Since then, the number of calls has doubled.

The company (from my past experience) is an alternate energy supplier.  They do not identify themselves as such.

It's also SCAM! Blocking 973-273-7847 does not work, they figure out how to call again with the same caller ID. It's incredible!

James, thanks for sharing this.  You "figured out" how to call 307-223-0458 or email at the address you provided... very creative thinking!  Thanks for sharing this... can you provide details on how you "figured out" this method of stopping the calls?

The email address you provided is interesting, since callerhelp.org is not a registered internet domain.  Likely that email address will only add you to an email spam list.

To those being harrassed by telemarketers, be aware that initiating contact with a vendor essentially nullifies the restrictions on telemarketing to you, effectively 'giving permission' to call you as an existing business relationship due to your inquiry.

Given the scummy business ethics of people who engage in telemarketing to make money, skepticism might be needed before emailing or calling some 'magic number' to help you with the calls.  The scammers quite often do monitor the reporting websites for comments about their own calling numbers, and it would certainly behoove them to have complainants contact them, thus initiating contact and invalidating the restrictions on calling you.

Best avenue is to take copious notes, record all information about the calls.  Make a voice recording of the call if possible to keep with your records.  The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 is a federal law specifying up to $1500 in damages for each violation... for those diligent enough to keep good records and cross reference similar messages, this can result in significant damages being awarded.

Received a call from this number again!!!  Caller ID indicates Power Rate.  I repeatedly request to be removed from their calling list and it never works.  MOST annoying!

(973) 273-7847  is a scam to get you to take an alternate electric company.  What they tell you tehry will lower your bill 20% and they lead you to believe that it is your electric company.  When you start asking questions - they hang up.

Don't these people have something else to do other than annoy people. Several calls a day.  being on th DO NOT CALL list doesn't seemto help/

Friggin IDIOT Electric Suppliers trying to SLAM unsuspecting people....TELL THEM WHERE TO GO and Report them and then block them!!!!!They ask for your current account number and when you give it to them they SLAM you over to their company...You NEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS!!!!!!!!!!

I must be (now was :) on a sucker list.  I'm getting calls from 973-273-78xx (last 2 digits varies).  Then I  figured out how to stop the phone calls; either call 307-223-0458 or send an email to service@[spam_domain].org; give the caller's phone number (to verify the do not call request will be effective) and your receiving phone number (to remove it from the caller's list) and it'll stop the phone calls.

So, apparently like many others, I'm receiving a daily call from some company with the caller ID name of Power Rate..just like others have noted..

I received several calls from this number from Newrk NJ, I never aswer this phone because I use it as a fax only, but they are really a pain !

I have been getting these daily, they call and say nothing.  I just blocked their number now, I have Comcast.  The caller ID comes through as Newark, NJ

They must have called me over 4 times today. I can't take it anymoe.

This number calls 3-5 times a day, apparently through an automated system.

They call me every day at least 3 times a day.  So far, they've called 3 times today, and it's only 4 p.m.  I'm on the Do Not Call Registry which seems useless.

No name on caller id.... don't answer... they don't leave messages. This # has called three days in a row.

the msg said I qualified for reduced Con Ed rate..so I pressed to speak to them..I asked if they were from con ed..skirted it...asked if I had my bill and that I qualified for a reduction.  told them i didn'thave it handy..could they tell me more about it...and I would look for it.  she then hung up on me...  I called back and got a recording with an option to remove my number..lets see how that works..i have been getting calls several times a day from them prior to this~

If you have optimum phone service, you can block the number[s} easily on the Optimum web site.

One of many "reduce power rate" calls. Very annoying. Does anyone know how to stop this kind calls?

Got call at my home too but didn't pick up.
Didn't see any text in caller ID, but Power + someOtherWord (savings or Rebates?) have come up in a few recent calls not from this number.
I'm pretty sure these are the same giving me a call from 347)502-25xx where xx is 61, 83, 33. Spoofing is soo commonplace these days... they got tired of using the crazy area codes from all over the country and now just try local numbers.

I have received calls from the number multiple times.  I just dialed the number and there is a recording that allows you to be placed on their Do Not Call list when you press option 1.  We'll see if it works.

They have already called twice today. They call at least three times every day.
