My genius uncle was calling 411 over and over again to call my grandfather who was in the hospital. He is so smart. Anyway, this is 411's number here in Chicago. You can see how many times he actually got through.

Just got a call about 5 minutes ago from this number. Rang twice before I could get it then nothing. No voicemail left.

This number calls and does not leave a message.

The # called twice tonight around 7:30 and 7:40pm. Rang once the first time and only twice the second time. Called back and said Optimum directory assistance.

I got a call tonight.  I answered. Some guy on the other end said he was from some company conducting surveys, but I don't recall what name he used.  I detected scam immediately, so I hung up.

Receive a call from this number, didn't recognize it, so I didn't answer it. No Message. Getting tired of these kind of calls.

I was charged $1.25 on my phone bill for a Directory Assistance call to 773-555-1212 that I never made.
I called CenturyTel and disputed the charge.
In my opinion, this is the latest "bill padding" scam. The phone company probabaly knows that we won't bother to dispute such a small charge if they only pull it once in a while.
If you have been receiving phone calls from XXX-555-1212, I strongly suggest that you look carefully at your phone bill and see if you have any DIR ASSIST charges on it that you did not make.
Then call and dispute the charge. Then call your State Attourney General's office and file a complaint.
Then contact the FTC and do the same.
Someone needs to go to jail for all this "bill padding"; that is the only way it's ever going to stop.

I was called from this number 973-555-1212 several times tonight. A woman's voice treating that she was going to visit soon. I have my guns loaded. Must be some kind of nut!!!!

Rec'v call @ 8:30am on my cell. I didn't answer and no VM was left.

I did a reverse phone number check and it states the number is for a "Doug Harper" in NJ.

Calls come in from 11:52 and on all day long.  Give me a break..

It is from George S. May International.  From their website, it looks like they are a small business consulting company ... www.georgesmay.com.  Nice tactic, calling directory assistance for your phone number and then forwarding the call through them.

Received this call early in the morning. I saw the caller id said New Jersey Directory Assistance. I didn't answer it and no one left a message on my answering machine. When I call it back the lady answered saying New Jersey information. I told her about the call and she disconnected me. I don't think this is legit. I have reported it to the FCC.

Telemarketers (or pranksters) can program their VOIP connections to send out and type of caller ID information they want.  Most put some other number in their parameters so you can't report a number to be traced.  I am pretty sure this is illegal.  Start writing up reports to the FTC and maybe they will get someone to do something

I didn't answer, the message on the machine was a long bout of music and then a womans voice saying "hello" once or twice and then the call hung up.

I recieve calls from this number all times of the day there is never a message left.  When I called the number, it was Verizon directory assistance.

debt collector using 555-1212

this was a debt collector dialing my number through 555-1212 a directory assistance... from NJ - person left me a messgae... wanted me to call him back.. legit!

Get calls everyday must be directory assist conecting the calls that is why the caller id shows the number. I tried reporting to 411 but they won't have any part of it

I have been called twice today by this number.  When I answer they immediately hang up.  I tried calling the number back and it was verizon wireless 411.  Wierd!!!

I get a call from this number every couple of days (including weekends), usually in the morning. I answered once and an automated message said something like "your message is" and then there was nothing. I don't have texting so I thought perhaps it was an attempt at a voice text, but now I don't know what to think!
