This number is a scam/fraud--called stating they are from the Do Not Call Registry----stated I will get another automated call from (310) 9287055 giving me a password to register that I have to give them---I did get the 2nd call, some mention of Craigs List therein--I gave the password to the original caller (973) 8553171 who discontinued service the same day---needs FCC/FBI intervention ASAP.

they called us last night after 11:00 pm.  very annoying and no one is there. Do not call list does not work anymore.

This people called over 5 times non-stop! When I finally decided to pick up, no one answered...I called back, the operator said it was a wrong number/disconnected number....
I'm pissed because they called after 11:00pm!!!

I just received a call from this number. Strange since at the same time I was receiving an international call that did not register on my caller ID, but this number (973-855-3171) registered on my caller ID. Called back and I get a busy signal, called back again get a message saying "lines are busy". Very weird!

I was able to find out on the Internet that it is a PAETEC COMMUNICATIONS, INC. - NJ phone number. and that someone has been making threatening calls. It's been reported on other websites. This person probably has nothing better to do with his/her life.

I received a call from this number 973-855-3171 on our land line phone. Apparently it is some type of a fraud or criminal call and we were told to report it. We live in Irvine, CA

Our business got a call from this number starting 4 days ago, and he has not stopped calling since.  First started off by saying Hey Baby, what's your name ....  to silence, to I want a thousand dollars and i'm going to shoot you if you don't give it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How does this happen?????  We have reported it to the police and phone company.  I'm not sure I understand why it's so difficult to catch this person with all this high tech information we have these days, but someone needs to put a stop to this!

Got a call back 20 seconds later but it only rang once and it was a dialtone when I picked up. CID for this call had no number, just "Private Caller" prob due to the info not being sent (only rang once).

Got a call from this number (973-855-3171) today. The scammer has been calling me for the last three days from another number 876-441-9612. The 876 number is from Jamaica. They will tell you you won money and you need to got to Western Union and send them money in order to collect yours. Do not talk to these loser scumbags.

Same thing happened to me. my father called me from Portugal. Now i am not sure if two calls came in at the same time, or if the "lines crossed". It sometimes happens cause i have phone through VOIP provider. I use to get more of these calls when i had verizon, now it's once in a blue moon. Good Luck! report it to the Do not call list

My brother called us from Mexico, (from a totally different country code AND area code AND local number)

Very weird

He called saying he was a relative, but we called back and he wasnt there. An old couple was there.

The guy told us we won money. I hung up. Beware.
