THIS IS A SPOOFED (fake) NUMBER
There is no such area code as '974' or no such prefix as '000'

We have received multiple calls from this number. If we answer, we hear a recorded message regarding lowering credit card interest rates. The recording instructs the listener to "press 9" to connect with a customer service rep. Once I took the bait with the intention of asking to be removed from their list (we are on both state and national Do Not Call lists). However, the person I was connected with insisted that he had not called me, but that I had called him. He was extremely rude, and said he could not remove our number from any lists. We have, unfortunately, continued to recieve calls virtually daily.

This number appeared on my caller ID but I did not answer it, as I didn't recognize the number. I am on the do not call registry but have been getting bombarded with calls from telemarketers lately so obviously that list means absolutely nothing. A "message" was left from this particular caller on my voice mail. However, when I went to retrieve it, there was nothing there except for a couple of seconds of dead air. Reading messages from other readers, it looks as though they want to discuss a credit card and lowering interest rates. Well, I don't even use a credit card so I have no idea why they are calling me. I do know that from time to time I will get telemarketing calls that I actually DO answer and there will be a recorded voice saying "Hi. This is ---- and I'm calling about your credit card." Again, I don't use credit cards, so I just hang up, but I don't know why they are calling me in the first place. It would make more sense to call me to discuss my credit card if I actually used one. Therefore, these calls are getting beyond irritating because I get an average of 2-3 per day.

I just got a phone call from 974-000-1257 wanting to lower my interest rate. Told me press 9 because time was running out. I did and it went silent. Strange!

Calls being reeceived from 1-974-000-1257 and 1-734-000-8675 wanting to discuss credit card. I hang up but see the numbers on my caller ID showing they have tried over and over without leaving a message.

Received a call from 974-000-1257 on 7/24/9 at 6:51P CST, no message was left. Also received a call from 734-000-8675 on 7/23/9 at 3:42P CST. The 7/23/9 call has been identified as a telemarketer. The message was about your Visa-Mastercard-Discover card, and how they can lower your interest rate. As I understand it, when questioned the caller is rude and hangs up. I suspect they are just looking for CC information, so you can be ripped off.... Beware.

Anyone know who this is from? No message. I have an unlisted number AND am on the Do Not Call Register, so I'd like to know who's in violation this time.
