These people called my house today from 1-978-687-0296, and my husband gave them my cell phone. Argh. Some fast speaking woman with a Spanish accent identified herself as Mrs. "Somebodyorother" I couldn't hear what she said. She wanted me to confirm some personal information (address first, then social security number) before discussing the nature of her call. Without hesitation, I refused. And when I insisted she disclose the nature of her business, she told me not to raise my voice at her. Ha #1. She asked if I lived at some random address, probably expecting me to give her my correct address. Ha #2. Then, as I'm about to hang up, I heard her ask if my social security number ended in some random digits. I hung up. Ha #3.

You are in debt, and you need to pay ....

They were much more polite then other collection agencies that have called. However the woman was very racist and had a bad attitude that reflected in her tone of voice.

NEVER PAY AGENCIES! When you can pay again call the original debtor.

WTF they called me also, shoot I owe em but I told them to get in line. I be damn if Im worried about a computer over my Ins,House payment, etc, I got bigger fish to fry a scam is not going to make me pay you first...

These people called me using the above-listed number on my cell phone looking for someone I've never heard of. I have no idea how they got my cell phone number. They called again today using an unlisted number looking for the same guy. I told them to remove the number from their list. We'll see. They are Valentine & Kebartas, Inc., and are a collections firm. Fine, everyone wants to get paid, but they need to do their damned homework before they bother people they have no business calling and harassing; particularly after being told that the person they're looking for isn't at the number they're calling. A friend of mine is the head of consumer protection in the attorney general's office here. He was big on the "no call" registry and very proactive in going after them. Perhaps he'll provide me with some guidance if these people call me on my private cell phone again.
