Got 5 calls from this number (V2101712180000592926 as the caller ID and the number listed as (410) 541?394?2) within 1 minute on 2/10/14.   Has to be robo calls because why would a human call 5 times in a row within 1 minute???  I do not nor will I ever answer numbers that I do not know.  And when there is no message left, that number goes directly into my blocked call list so that I do not have to deal with them calling me again.  Not sure how they got my number in the first place because we are supposed to be listed on the Do Not Call Registry, which at times I think is totally worthless, even though I try to make sure my number is on the list at least 3 times a year by going to their site and adding it.  

The *REAL* thing is at iafflocal1563.org, and they are *NOT* the ones who are calling.

Caller said he was from Baltimore County Firefighters and they were having a poster contest for school kids. Tired to raise money via credit card info. They have called before with different phone numbers. I have reported them and even been contacted by the FCC, who is onto the scam.  

Called me this afternoon. CID: Unknown Name. Thought I'd see who it was, some lazy folks don't take the time to setup their phone service and CID ID and are valid callers. When I answered, no one responded. Attempted to call back and consistently got a fast busy signal. Thanks for reporting these calls folks. That's the only way we'll know. Into the call block list they go.... By the way 800Notes.com, please add Charities to the list of caller types. Thank you for this service.

just got a call from this number.  BOGUS !!!  I am a retired Firefighter/Medic of 25 yrs.....   this is NOT the way we raise funds. !!!!!!!!!!  Please don't give them anything.... they will take it and run like the Target hackers did !!

I got an email (set up through my phone service) stating a call from 410-541-3942 had come to my house...  I tried to call this number from my work and got a recording that stated I "must first dial a 1 when calling this number"... I tried again and added the 1, then I got the recording that stated "it is not necessary to dial a 1 when calling this number."
I found this very odd...

Just received a call from 410-541-3942 also. First I tried to inform the gentlemen that I already donate to local departments, I was told that the local firehouse does not collect for them and that they would mail me the collection information via us mail. I told them I was not interested and would appreciate if they would remove me from their call list. The individual that called was not professional at all, starts the call by saying I know its late and hope he didn't get me out of the hot tub and then proceeds to talk about supporting their cause.  

After ignoring this call twice before i finally picked up to see who was calling me from this number and was told it was the Anne Arundel professional firefighters association local 1563.When i finally got the chance to ask him how he got my number he said the white pages which is interesting because we are not in the white pages and then i asked him how i thought they were not supposed to be calling for charity work and was told that it was a new thing and that they had to start calling because of insurance purposes.Needless to say i told the guy that i didnt trust the people on the phone and if im going to donate i will deal directly with the company. This is the website i was given www.IAFF1563.org.I have looked them up on the BBB and was not able to find them so im not sure they are legitimate.

received call from 410-541-3942 today at 1:37pm.... Anne Arundel County Professional Firefighters Association.  These are well paid firefighters with a decent retirement.... they are soliciting donations for paid firefighters.  I refuse to give... if they need more money then they need to raise their union dues.....  if they want funds for a burn unit... I say donate directly to the Washington Hospital Center Burn Foundation or the Burn Unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital....

They called again tonight at 8:35pm.  Again caller ID showed "V11615301700003" and again no message.  

Received two calls from this "Out of Area" number (though it "spoofed" the 410 area code, which is Maryland) in the last two days.  I didn't/don't answer such calls; they left no message either day.  Pretty clear signs of "robocaller" charity telemarketers & scammers.

Based on Scott's comment (above) its yet another robocaller/telemarketer for local first responders (FOP, FD, et al).  Even if these firms/callers are actually seeking donations for local first responders, the robocaller firms take the vast majority (if not all) of the donated monies.
Anne Arundel County (MD) police and fire departments NEVER do fund raising by phone - it's a policy position.  So it's more likely this is  a total scam.
Over and above which, it is a violation of federal law & FCC regulations for even those organizations "exempt" from the Do Not Call list restrictions (charities, surveys, et al) to EVER use "robodialers."  Not that it will do any good to file formal complaints with the FCC, the DNC, or any other federal authority; I've done so many times over the last several years, and each and every time the response has been a finding that "no violation of law occurred."  Yeah ... really?  Pointless.
So ... I initially "block" such phone numbers on my phone system after one call; after two such calls, I block it on my Verizon FiOS digital voice "Caller Block" feature ... and we're done.  Until they change to the next "spoofed" number.
I'd actually prefer to simply end their existence, but ... this is the most viable and effective option.

I imagine the spoofed caller ID is some sort of tracking number.  I've gotten several of these V* calls.

Got a call from 410-541-3942 last night around 9 PM, no message. Another call today, think it's a robo but I picked it up when somebody was there. They claimed to be associated with the county fire department, assuming they meant Anne Arundel since that's where I live. Guy was really hard selling in getting a donation. I already give to the county so don't know that this one is real.

Called at 3:26PM and left no message.

Came home and saw it on my caller I.D. identified as V1151421460003.  No message left and no idea who this is.
