This very thing just happened to my friend. She called me in a panic. I told her no one can call her about a debt without giving her all the information. I told her it was fake. Just found this website and my suspension was correct.

Scammer!!!!!! This number called me, obviously a man from India. Told me there was a case pending against me for a past debt and would not tell me anything pertinent. I told him I had file bankruptcy and it was discharged in Nov of 2013 and I had no debt. I told him not to call me again and hung up. He called me back right away, I told him I was going to report him and that legally he was not allowed to call me anymore as I told him to stop. I hung up once more and less than 10 seconds later he called right back. He said if I hung up on him one more time he would refer my case to the courts. I told him to go for it and hung up.

I got a called 4 times this morning from Unknown caller, it was Indian guy saying that there was a law suit against me. When I didn't confirm my name, he pretended to by my friend Robert, I said I didn't know anyone with that name, hang up. Second time he said that there was a law suit and I asked for a case #, law firm name and that him passing as a friend was very unprofessional, to send me everything by mail so I can take it to the police to verify it. Third time he called he gave me 2 phone numbers 916-426-2859 and 916-469-8824, Case# CH553553, lawyer name Brandon Gabriel and that they were calling from Sacramento, I told them I look into it and hang up. Fourth time he I called was to tell me that they will send the police to my house and contact my employer, I told them to do whatever they want, is not like I will hide and hang up. I call the police in my neighborhood and they called one of the numbers for me, they said it was a fraud number and not to call them.

I have started receiving calls from this number on today saying that someone filed a lawsuit on me and my SS# and I must pay $1,278  he said his name was Brandon Gabriel and I could not understand him.   Also another number is 916-258-5092

I literally get the same exact message as Fremont 650. Same guy and same story. He has called me 6 times today, if I ignore the call and send it to VM he calls back immediately, He called back 8 times within 2 min when I was sending his calls to voice mail. I can't understand anything he left on my message so i'm glad someone could understand him. I hope he does not start calling my employer too, this guy seems to be going beyond harassment.

This number started calling my cell phone on 02/03/2014, 3 times in one day. The message left on my cell phone was a script message read by a man with a strong accient from India, that could barley speak english. He demands I call him back the very second I get this message, informs me that a lawsuit has been filed against my SSN#, and either myself or my attorney of record, must respond immediately to delay further leagl trouble to me. He then started calling my employer  as much as he called my cell phone with the same threats. He further claims his name is 'Michael Williams" from the States Attorney's Law Office in California. (Interesting that a man, obviously from India, has a full American name of "Michael Williams ; an alternate "Hotline number I am also to call is # 916-426- 6621". I think this is fraud and will repor this to the State of CA.

You were called by scammers.  Failure to pay a debt is not check fraud.  Red flag.  They couldn't tell you which company you allegedly owed.  Another red flag.  They claimed the sheriff was going to arrest you in an hour at home or work.  Yet another red flag - debt is civil, not criminal, so you wouldn't be arrested, law enforcement is not in the business of debt collection, and they also don't give you a heads up they'll be visiting.  More info on this scam here:

they called from sacramento so thery call. threating me about past medical bills and check fraud but could not telll me what company i owed. i called my local Pd and gave them the number. They claimed that they had my social security number and that the sherifff  was gonna arrest me in a hour. at my home or work.
