I have been receiving a call from this number an others.  It all started after I went online and started researching colleges. After I put my info in on the site for college multiple numbers have been calling me offering me money if I just pay X amount of money or give them my account numbers so thy can wire me money. I had one tell me to go get a prepaid card and pay him that way so I did not have to give him my bank info.  This stuff is getting stupid and I am not giving them anything. The government does NOT give free money. Unless it is FASFA and that is on a .gov site. there are other grants and stuff but the school would give you those. if they would work as hard at a real job they could do something with their life.

She called and wanted my banking information which I would not give her.  She hung up on me.  Said she was from the Federal Government.  The government was giving me around 8,000. I could only get it if I give her my banking information.  Again, she hung up.  Not sure what kind of call you say this was.

I got the same call exact down to the amount of money everything!  So I strung him along, playing with him. When he asked me how old I am I told him I was 92 years old actually in my 30's and he said you don't sound 92 then I said you don't sound like Sammy from Washington. This pissed him off so bad that he actually threatened my life saying "you moth******er son of bi*** I have sniper in your area and you are dead in 30 minutes" I filed a police report and as soon as I can pinpoint who he is I'll file a lawsuit against him as well.

As I read over others' comments, I notice many of the same elements that I experienced in my own conversation with the caller: A woman, with so thick an accent that I often could not understand her, said she was from the US Treasury (!!!) and that I qualified for a federal grant of eight thousand and some. When I asked why I would be selected for such a grant, she rattled off something about me paying my taxes on time! Then she asked for my bank account number for an electronic deposit.  I told her that I didn't trust this and the phone immediately went dead. I do not expect to hear from her again, which is just as well because I was getting calls every two hours or so from this number.

Please do not provide any personal information or credit card information to these people! I received a phone call from a Mike Walton (talked with an accent like he was from another country) from Government Services saying that I won $8,400 in free grant money from the Government.  I asked the gentleman how did I come about winning this and he responded and said that I was selected by the Government because I paid my taxes on time and never filed bankruptcy.  He asked for my name, date of birth, credit card or bank account information, whether or not I was married,etc......said that he needed this information so that I could be transferred to his Account Manager for final verification to receive my money; he also stated that the Account Manager would provide me with a government approval id# to verify that I will receive my money in 45 minutes to my account.  I began asking extensive questions and told him that if he was calling from the Government then he should have all of my information. I then looked up grants.gov website online and saw that this was a scam.  I immediately informed the gentleman of this and he got angry and started telling me that I was being difficult and I told him never to call my number again.  Then I hung up and this person had the nerve to call me right back and demanded that I give my personal information ASAP and said that if I hang up he will continue to call my number.  Then he said, "I know where you stay" and this made me extremely upset.  I hung up again and then called my husband who was at work.  Something has to be done about this fraud stuff! It's like we almost have no way of protecting ourselves, let alone our personal information! He even perpetrated the address saying that he was calling from his office at 202 SW Independence Avenue in Washington DC!!!

This guy is going to continually call you until you give him some info that will make him shut up.  I claimed that the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) would prevent me from claiming this.  It worked.  I claimed previously that I had a local criminal charge (fix-it ticket in reality) and didn't do any taxes. (I could totally get away with that. /sarcasm)  The last two were a no-go, he still tried.

These people have been caling my husband for days...he finally picked up today and a woman with a thick accent told him she was from the US Treasury Dept and he was eligible for a $8400 grant.  He told her he googled the number she was calling and knew it was a scam and she hung up.  He then called our cell phone provider and reported the call.  They told him if more people called to report the issue they would look into it.  It is for calls from 202-666-2571 and 202-666-0837.

This number 202-666-2571 calls me every day saying its from the District of Columbia.  I answered today & someone with a very a thick Indian accent started to speak.  I could harldy understand him.  He told me the US government has chosen 15 cities nation wide to give grants to people that had great financial support in that I paid my income taxes in full, had no bad credit to the federal government, etc. in the last year, HAHA!  He proceeded to tell me I was chosen to receive a non taxble, non reimbursement grant to pay bills or use for school, with no strings attached.  I told him my red flags were flying high & I didn't believe this garbage.  I asked him what the his name was & he said William Balson, yeah right w/ an accent like that!  I told him to give me the name of the grant where I could call to verify it.  He told me there was not a number to reach him, but the name of the grant was, "Loyalty Financial Support Grant."  The address he gave me was:  200 Independent Ave. S.W.  Washington, DC 20201.  The web site he gave me was "usgovernmentgrant.org".  I told him I was going to verify all this & for him to call me back.  I don't believe a word of it & will see if he does.  I doubt it, HA!   The federal government giving
me a Loyality Grant, yeah right!  Big time SCAM!

Just received a call from them.  Came in as DC, USA.  Same as above. Claimed they worked for the US Treasury department and that I was one in 15,000 people who is going to receive an $8400 grant to pay off my college loans. Knew my name, address, even place of work. Asked for a bank account or credit card information to credit the $8400 to my account and it would be credited within 45 minutes. When I told him it was a scam and I would turn him in he began yelling at me asking why I don't want free money. Very heavy accent.

I got a call today from a woman with a very thick accent, and I could not understand her well. Basically, I was being offered a federal grant for a few thousand dollars, partly because I had no criminal record. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe she asked for my credit card or bank account information, and said something about claiming it in the next 30-45 minutes, and that if I wasn't interested they would give it to someone else. So I said "no, thank you" and hung up.
