A guy with a Indian accent called my cell phone and said he was from the Federal Govt (Welfare Dept).  He said I could get $500 from a tax rebate.  When I questioned him to confirm his credentials, he said to come by his house.  I said "no thank you" and hung up.

Received three calls within the last month from 202-684-8051; one male and two females with Indian accents. The most recent caller said he was from US Pharmaceuticals (yeah right!), and that they had my medication ready that I had ordered from them. I never ordered anything! When I told them this they ignored me and kept reading their script. This is obviously a "Vishing" scam (VOIP - voice over IP), that's why the number cannot be traced or redialed. Please be very, very careful not to give out your personal information, and report this to the FTC for investigation at www.ftc.gov.

I just got a call from this number. Male Indian (or similar) accent. He said he was from "Propelled (?) Medical Benefits".  He wanted to verify my address so he could send me my medical card. He said it was for people like me on a "fixed income".  I said (1)I had private medical insurance and didn't need his card and(2) how did he know I had a "fixed income". He started arguing quite crossly but in the end I got mad and put the phone down. I then just typed the phone no. into Google out of curiosity and found all the fascinating emails above. I just called the no. back and got the "sorry - your call can't be completed as dialled".
That's the 4th time I've had a similar type of call w/similar accent but I don't know if it was from the same number.
Do the police even follow up on this stuff?

I received a call from 202 684 8051.  Some man who sounded Indian or Asian informed me that I will be receiving $500.00 every month from the United States Treasury Department.  The connection was not great.  Most of all, he did not introduce him self and did not state what company he represented (fishy).  The gentleman read the information so fast that I had to tell him to slow down because of the connection.  He slowed down and repeated the stated above.  He said that I did not have to pay anything and he wanted to verify my address and wanted to know what was the name of the bank and where do I want the money to be deposited.

I told him that I was very skeptical of this call and this is most likely a scam.  If I was to receive money from the US Treasury Department I would have been notified by mail and the fact that I do not give out my account numbers or any other private information over the phone.

He also mentioned that he was going to give me a special confidential number to have access to the funds.  I told him that this is a scam and hung up the phone.

Please do not fall victim to this and make sure you don't give out any information to individuals or companies that you do not know.

Same thing, they kept calling and asking for banking info saying they were from the "Tax Department".

When I stated I didn't have it on me and needed to call back, they refused to give me a call back number.

SCAM!

Received a phone call from man saying I was entitled to receive $500 a month refund from the IRS from taxes due me and needed my bank account info so it could be directly deposited.  When I told him to call my bank for that info he became irrate and manipulative.  When I didn't give in, he hung up.

Oh, yes, both the man and woman who called from this number had accented speech.  I do not know if they were from India, but they did not have an American accent.

I repeat:  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.  Report it to the authorities.  They are trying to STEAL your hard-earned money.

Protect senior citizens and report these crooks now.

I have received several calls from this phone number 1-202-684-8054, one from a man and two from a woman.

Each time I receive the call, they say they are from the "Medicare office" or "Medical office" and have my card ready.

I am not on Medicare.  This is a hoax to obtain personal identifying information.  I confronted the female caller, and she hung up on me, after telling me to "Shut up."

These people are scam artists.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.  It comes up on my Caller-ID as "Private Number."  When I try to dial it back, it does not go through.

I am reporting this to the FCC, FTC, Verizon, D.C. Police, my Eleanor Norton, and the Mayor of D.C.

I repeat:  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.  They are trying to steal and need to be arrested.
