Every "new" collection agency is going to try to locate him and they're allowed to per the FDCPA Section 804 http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf

My son has 20 year old student loan debts, which have passed from one collection agency to another.  Now ERS has called me at least 4 times, always asking for my son (who has never lived at this address or number).  Isn't it illegal to contact family numerous times concerning this kind of debt???   I'd like to know who to report them to and sue if appropriate.  If I can confirm the legality I will and keep you informed.

Guy called asking for someone.  Since we have several employees & would have to first see if we even have that person working for us, I asked who the caller was.  He said his name was Rick Newton.  I then asked with whom he was calling.  He said Kansas something or other.  I then asked what in regards he was calling about.  He wouldn't tell me.  I told him that I didn't know if we had that employ working for us or not, but I would be happy to get a message to him if we did, but that I needed to know what it was in regards to or I wouldn't waste my time.  He still wouldn't tell me.  Then he asked if I was the receptionist, of which I replied yes (which I am not, but wanted him to stop wasting my time) He said "don't you waste you time all of the time anyway?"  Very rude and obviously he's made such comments to other people the way it rolled off his tongue.  I'm guessing a debt collector the way he treated me.

Student loan collector.  I made payment arrangement and they still call me.  Sometimes 4-5 times a day.
