Recevieved a call just now from this number.  Was reading the comments here while he rambled on about a gift card, "unlocking" several pay channels, and low costs after 30 days... I told him I didn't know who he was, didn't want any additional channels, and to have a nice day - then hung up.

DirectTV does some odd marketing using cold calls; I think that tactic just enourages these scammers - they sound pretty much just like them.  Good thing we're able to quickly look them up on sites like this!

Same happen called 2x, first time told me they are from directv and I hang up, 2. Time I just blocked the number. Hope that will work.

Message was left by a lady claiming to be with OptumRX.  Must be a scam, as my insurance goes through another mail order pharmacy.  We switched insurance companies as of 4/1/14...and OptumRX was the mail order for my OLD insurance.

Thanks everyone in here. I received a call from this number 210-991-7231 today at 5:09 pm and same thing no voicemail and the number is disconnected. Along with a missed call from 210-991-7234 today at 10:52 am and call it back to find its disconnected too. My suggestion to everyone is if you get a call from someone claiming to be direct tv tell them thanks for the call. Hang up and call the number on your bill and ask them why they called you. This way you know it's the legit company an your not giving your private information out to a scam!

Same thing happens to me. They call every night, tried calling back and it says disconnected.
Call blocking them now!

Thanks to everyone here for posting about this number! I ALSO have Directv and have had at least one missed call every day from this number or 210-991-7234. I've blocked both numbers.

received 2 calls from 210-991-7231 didn't answer first  .    answered 2nd before realizing I didn't recognize number.   As soon as I answered I heard clicking noise like camera taking picture?
Redialed 210-991-7231            Was not a working number

Just called me today 3/13/14 @4:36PM Pacific Time, no message. I blocked the number. I am also reporting the number to the FTC.

I have received several phone calls from this number to my cell phone number over the past several weeks but have never answered it as I never answer phone numbers I don't know so I decided to google search the number and this came up. Thanks guys for the heads up. Next time I'll just have to answer and give the person a piece of my mind.

Just got a call from this number. Didn't answer. No message left. Looked it up and saw all these comments. I have direct tv, too. Wonder how they get cell phone numbers?

This person called my phone but left no voicemail..then text me "what's up...I can't talk right now". I have no idea who this is CREEPY!!!

I got a call from this number.  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  I'm getting a lot of spoof numbers calling my cell phone.  If you do not recognize the number, don't answer and don't call it back.  If people need you, they will leave a message.  We heard of this scam from the local news on Monday.  It is happening to a lot of people and the group originates from the British Islands.  They are charging people money on their cell phone bills because when you call the number back it gets rerouted to an international number and you get charged for placing an international call.  BEWARE!!!

I just got a call yesterday and today from this number (02/01/14 and 02/02) .   Tried calling back and said it was "no longer in service or has been disconnected. "  Sounds like a scammer to me!

Same thing happened to me, 1/12/13. I try to call back n the numbers disconnected.

Same thing has happened to me. I keep getting missed calls from this number and a few other numbers from Texas. They never leave a voicemail!

I just received a call showing this number on cell phone.  No message and when tried to call back, busy signal.  

Got a cll from this number to my cell ph.  Did not leave a message.  Called back the number and it is disconnected.

No message - just the phone call.  I have blocked the number.

Same thing happened to me!!! You can't call it back as the # shows disconnected!!! I am going to try blocking and see if that works bc they call me almost everyday!!!!!

Had a direct call from 2109917231 from a male who claimed to have my directv account number.  He verified my identity.  Told him that I did not believe he was from directv and that this number was showing up as a scam number even though I had not completed my verification yet.  After I said that to him, he immediately hung up on me.  I called back and the number was no longer in service.  The phone number showing on the Caller-ID was probably spoofed.  So, yes, thanks to me fooling the scammer, this is now a verified scammer attempt.  Caller ID read West as the company name and San Antonio, TX as the calls origination.  Don't provide these people personal information or make financial transactions because you obviously cannot call them back because the number comes up as disconnected.
