This is the 5th call from this number in the past month on my Caller ID history. There were probably a few in the month prior also, This was the second of 3 unsolicited calls I received in the space of less than 2 hours this afternoon.

Got a call today from 212-512-2524, said was calling from windows server vest help and that an alert had come up because hackers were trying to get to information.  Said his name was Harry Parker and wanted me to go to windows symbol on lower left and hit r and control and type pre fetch in that box and hit OK.  That would give them info they needed to get addresses needed. Also asked how many computers in home, desk and laptops, etc.  Thought he should be able to see or know this so didn't t tell him.  I told him I was going to check out number first because I have been getting phone calls  saying that I owe money and have charges against me from another number and I haven t even left the state.  I hung up on him and checked the number, what a surprise, it is a a scam. I will be blocking this number.

Immediately after I hung up on the SOB, I got a call from 202-499-1488. Maybe he recognized my voice and just hung up. Also a scam number.

I never pick up an 800 type number, 360 area code, nor a 202 area code because I know they're either the said above or a pollster/political telemarketer. Now something is strange too. I got this call shortly after logging into JP Morgan's banking site. This is a little scary. Also I think these people are connected to eBay scams too. Fortunately for myself I have NORTON INTERNET SECURITY and it notifies me of every little nasty thing on the Internet.

Well I got another call from this same number that calls on a regular basis.  But I was ready this morning with my recording device and evil intent.

I quickly turned on the speaker phone and recorder

The convsation went like this:

Me:  Hello?,         Hello?,        Hello?
Caller: How about your computer?
Me: What about my computer?
Me: What about my computer?
Caller:  On your computer is in trouble!
Me: Oh, it is?  How do you know it is?
Caller:  garbled
Me:  How do you know that I even got a computer?
Me:  Hello?
Caller:  Do you have a computer ma'am?
Me:  Well you ought to know that because you are telling me there is stuff wrong with it.
Me:  And did you know that I'm on the DO NOT CALL list?
Me:  Ah, DO NOT CALL Registry, did you know that?
The caller immediately hangs up.

If he kept bugging me than I would have told him that this call is being recorded.

OK - after spending hours on the phone, canceling credit and debit cards, closing and re-opening a checking account and getting so frustrated I wanted to reach all the way to India and rip some lips from a cheating, lying face, here is some information on the way these creeps work.
I received a call shortly after 8:00 PM on 09-22-2012, from a guy with an Indian accent, telling me that I had some bad infections in my computer and I needed to turn it on and press the start button and the "R" key at the same time so his "techs" could get in and fix my many security problems.  It took me some time, and asking numerous times, but he finaly told me he was calling from California, at which time I asked him why my phone showed New York.  He told me they worked over IP, which makes sense, and when I asked his name, he said he was Jordan Dennis and his direct number was 866-539-8674, ID extension 11130, and the confidential code, what ever all that ment, was 663867.  I immediately checked on my laptop and found that number to be a fake also.  After being on the phone with him for well over an hour and trying to get him to say something that would get him caught, I told him what a gake he was and that I didn't want to hear from him again.  He was very agressive in his attempts to get me to send him some money, which started at $250.00, then down to $200.00 because I was a senior citizen, then down to $150.00.  After hanging up on him, he called back to inform me that I owed them some money and I should go to Western Union and sign some papers.  I then went to my e-mail and discovered that Western Union had sent me an e-mail at 3:08 that afternoon thanking me for registering with them and that the payment was being held for so many hours due to the shiping address being in India.  Unable to find a phone number for Western Union, I responded to the e-mail they had sent me got it all stoped, and they later e-mailed me to get more information on the person/persons that had contacted me.  I have no idea how they got my account numbers and/or card numbers,I never do any banking with my bank or with the credit union on the phone or on the computer, but I had to cancel a card at a Portland CU and canceled my credit/debit card with my local bank.
I also received a call, and this was emmediately after hanging up on this idiot for the third time, from BORDERS, which was a book store in Albany that went out of business quite some time ago, and from another person with an Indian accent that identified, on my phone, as BOOKS.
I think I could become violent.....

This is the second time this year I've received what appeared to be a call from McGraw-Hill.  Interestingly I have a friend who works there and I gave him the first phone number to give to his company's security department to investigate.  I am going to follow up again.  This appears to be a different telephone number from the first time.  So they have apparently found a new number to steal.

I got a call from this number about 2 months ago. It showed as: " McGraw-Hill dot com" on CID at that time. I actually notifed the REAL company.
Just got another call from this supposed number; they have removed "McGraw Hill" from Cid now.  I stayed on line and no one spoke up. I hung up.

 BEWARE!

I got a call from this number today, Sept. 22, 2012.  He identified himself as Jordan Dennis, and he was calling because I had so many troubles on my PC.  It had been a while since I had checked it and when I did, I found multiple warnings on my hard drive.  I asked him how he could look into my hard drive without me allowing him t access my PC and he said he worked for a company that was contracted by Microsoft.  When I asked him where he was located he gave me the name of a town in California.  When I told him I had retired from the telephone company here, and I knew that 212 area code was New York, he informed me that they worked VIA IP, which made sense to me at the time, and so much of the info he had made sense, I fell for his scheeme and agreed to purchase a Windows Security prgram from him, but fortunately, when he tried to run my VISA card, it shut him down and wouldn't allow it to go through.  AAfter trying multiple times, he intructed me to go to the Western Union office Monday morning and wire him $200.00, this is after an initial price of $350.00, at which time I told him absolutely not.
He gave me another number, 866-539-8674, with an ID code of 11130.  This is supposedely his direct number, and the ame of the tech that did the work in my PC was John Miller.  His accent prevented me from catching the name of the company, but I thought, when he called, it was a lagitimate technitcian I had used in the past until he started demanding money for his services.  He is going to call back Monday morning.

I received a call from these scammers (212-512-2524, phone number most likely has been spoofed). They had a heavy Indian or Pakistan accent.  They tried to 'warn' me my computer was infected with a virus that not even anti-virus software or firewalls could stop and tried to sell me their service.

It was most suspicious when they had trouble providing me with the name of their company and the name of their software. They claimed they were from 'Bestel internet security?' or something like that, it was hard to make out the company name due to their heavy accent.

It became even more suspicious when they refused to provide me with a website to research the product they were offering and even refused to tell me the name of their software. I mean what kind of salesman doesn't even know that name of the product he is trying to sell you...

All they kept emphasizing was I 'need' to purchase their service and install their software immediately, and from that point I knew this was a scam.

Do not give these guys any personal information, especially financial information, and do not allow them install their software onto your computer.

Yup. I've gotten called by these hooligans twice. The first, I just hung up. The second time, I wanted to see how much info I could get from them. After stringing them along for a while, I asked a few poignant questions, then told them that they were running a scam and should be ashamed of themselves. The man asked "Who told you it was a scam?" and promptly hung up. I hit *69 for the obviously faked number.
