Are they going to be able to do anything? That's why I just gave up because I called my bank, went to the police and called "Adam Jones" back 50 time. This is just aggravating. Everyone says you should of hung up and called me but, I didn't know :(

This happened to me Tuesday! He said his name was Adam Jones and that I was going to get arrested. Stupid me I ended up paying him :( he told me to get reloaded cards from home depot. I couldn't use me debit card to get the cards then he told me to go to meijers. So I did and gave him the money. I feel stupid but, I learned from my mistake and never do this again. Smh

Got this call from "Max Anderson" from the "Department of Legal Affairs" and they are "starting an action against me".  When I asked "Whose Department of Legal Affairs"  he said Treasury.

Wouldn't tell me anything else.  Wanted me to call Adam Jones at the same number 213-603-9089 and get more info.

I have been also getting phone calls from this same number and he says his name Adam Jones.  He has been calling me since May 27th starting @ 12:56 pm. He then called back 2 hours later, both times he left the same vm that everyone else seems to be getting.  Very broken english, obviously reading from a script which he screws up my name and his own as well, stating that I need to call back or legal action will be used against me and I will be served @ my place of business or my home.  When I called back after work @ 5:25 I got a vm and I also left one as well.  This morning the calls started up at 6:46 am with more coming in at 9:05 am.  When I went to lunch at 12:30 I called back  and got a vm again, I told the person to quit calling and harrassing me, and there is no legal action against me and to stop calling me!!  I got another call at 2:45 pm!! When I called it back @ 5:48 pm, I got Adam Jones on the phone, but he said he could not help me and that I needed to call back in the morning.  I asked him why he could not help me and he stated that the person I needed to talk to was not in, at this point I'm pretty pissed off!!  I told him that I cannot call him in the morning and that the person that I'm supposed to talk needs to call me.  I realized it was a scam when they did end all vm with have a blessed day and god bless!!!  F that crap!!!  I'm gunna wait for my call tomorrow, I will let my employer know what is going on so I can answer, then I'm gunna unleash my flying monkeys!!!  After that I will block this number!!  I'm not scared!!!  Bring it!!

I received a call from someone named Max, a self described paralegal with a thick Indian/Pakistani accent. Wanted me to know legal action has begun on me. Regarding what, I ask. You'll have to call back this number and ask for Adam Jones. Of course, I received a voicemail of "Mr Jones". 2 hrs later another voicemail on my phone - different guy, same phony message. This is coming on my company issued cell phone. Wish these guys would not tie up my phone with this bogus crap!

I have suddenly this morning began receiving calls from this number. The voice is exactly what you all have described. Being that I have not called it back. Now I am getting Txt messages from this #. Clearly a scam and I have now blocked the #. Trust me, if the department of Treasury wants to talk to you. The last thing they are going to do is call you and I assure you, they will never txt you.

Scammers tend not to obey the law - and these are foreign scammers, so it's not easy to track them down.  About the only thing you can do is block their number(s).  If your phone doesn't have a block feature, you may want to buy a call blocker.  Google call blockers - you can get a good one for $60 or less.

This guy will not stop calling.  One right after the other after the other.  I have pleaded a yelled.  ISN'T THERE SOME LAW AGAINST THIS?

They called my cell 3 times, and some Indian guy who could barely speak English, gave some kind of simple American name, and said he was from the dept. of US Treasury, and that if I didn't call him today, then my lawyer should call  him afterwards, If the US TReasury is hiring this fool to call for them...I'm moving out of the US because this is the last straw!! lol

I labeled the number in my phone as Scam!  So when he called again about 2 hrs later today, I saw what it was.  This time, no message but I instantly got a text message to call this number.  I think when they finally nail this group, we can all document on a per call basis how many offenses have been committed.  I'd recommend everyone put their number in the donotcall.gov registry.  There are possibly big compensations per call owed to you if it is prosecuted.  I'll never answer that number, but I can keep track of their harassment easily, we should all do the same while digging through our own research on these crooks.  Be sure to tell your families especially the older members about this scam and not to give them anything.

Same here, accept he did not answer and waited for me to hang up to leave me a message.  No one has pointed out what the ramifications are if your number is on  the official do not call registry.  I wonder if we can all get a class action going against his him/his government for harassment/fraud/grifting... who knows.

I did hear one scam, where if you call back then your phone bill will get blown up with international charges... so I wouldn't call back, because they keep doing this even though we've all got their info.  Nobody is REALLY doing anything about them.

I have received 5 calls today from the number (213) 6039089. The person left a voice in a foreign accent claiming to be from Dept. of Affairs and that I should call back with a lawyer present. When you call back it goes to an answering machine. The calls keep coming and now nobody leaves a message. I checked the website and read about how thousands of people are receiving calls from the Department of Legal Affairs and the person at the other end is asking for you to send money or share personal information.

Guy with a thick middle eastern accent, could barely talk properly couldn't hear past the static of his breath on the phone babbling some crap about back taxes owed.

Hung up on him and then he left a voicemail which I also couldn't understand.

How is this douche getting our information? I actually did owe a little bit of tax I paid a week before I got this call, so his timing is a bit off...

Adam jones called me and told me I'd get a warrant in 40 minutes if I did not send him a $1500 voucher..this guy is still running his number..he still answers this number and I tell him to stop cheating people.I told him he's on abc news and all over the internet...he hangs up of course..I've called him a million times and crank calling him..someone stop these guys...

I received several calls from a man stating his name was Steve Jackson who claimed to be representative of the Department of Legal Affairs stating that legal action is being taken by US Internal Revenue.  Needless to say, my initial reaction was panic, tears, and embarrassment.  It is important to note that when I called the number I received a voice message stating, "My name is Adam Jones..."  I later found out that this is a scam.  

Please be advised that anyone obtaining a telephone call from ANYONE stating that you owe money, please keep the following in mind:

The IRS will always inform you, in writing, of anyone issues/concerns relative to payment.

Received 2 calls from this number stating "Mike" was from the Legal Affairs Dept of the United States Treasury department. Stated there was legal action being taken against me and that I needed to call him back right away to avoid a legal mess. Very thick accent. Did not call the number back until the next day and it was a voice mail for someone named "Adam Jones". Obviously I'm not the first person these guys are running a scam on. I am reporting this to both the local police department and to the IRS and US Treasury Department.

One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

It's a stupid scam.  Police are not involved in tax disputes; tax disputes are a civil matter usually solved by negotiation with agents or revenue officers.   You would have received a letter if there was some dispute; 95% of all tax disputes are settled administratively.

The Indian scammers try to pick on single women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.  Don't fall for it!

No need to be concerned!! When you notices police officers wearing rags on their heads and riding camels approaching your home, simply lock the doors and close the drapes!

Just happened to us, exact same thing, but he didn't try to get money from us, said they are sending someone over to arrest me.  They do have our address, we are a bit concerned

I received a voice message on my cell earlier, I suspected attempt for fraud, he said to call Mike as I was in trouble with the treasury etc. I called him back, he said his name is David Felimeth, or something bogus like that, he had something like an indian accent. What he did not know is that I was recording the whole thing. He asked me about my attorney, he said they have the right to come and arrest me, blah blah blah. So, I asked him again about his employee number, he hung up on me. Then I called him back, and he hung up on me again. Then I called again, and left him voice mail.

I received same calls saying that if I didn't resolve issue I will have a warrant for my arrest.... I followed instructions to go to Home Depot and was then told to purchase 2 green for cards. When I was on my way I had a police officer meet us there and he talked to this Adam Jones... It's a major scam. The officer requested to talk to his supervisor, and have him call the police department to confirm who he was. He refused and hung up.

He called me as well and said that I had a federal warrant out for me and I needed to pay an amount for them to cancel the warrant.  But I said I haven't received anything from them and he asked what could I pay so I said if it's by the US treasure them they should have my address to send me what it is that I'm behind on.  So I listen knowing he was lying because why is it just those two who are dealing with this issue and how can you say there's nothing tey can do but them go back and ask what can I pay.  Not only that, I said so you mean that I can't get a copy of what you claim to have already sent me but you have a warrant out in me?  I said that sound odd but no.  He said call me back in 30 mins and let me see if I can talk to them and work something out and I'm like take your time as I'm recording the entire conversation myself. Then he says this is my ext 144 but when you call back and listener to the voice message Adam Jones sounds just like the guy Steve who called.

When I was out I received at least 6 phone calls from this guy, with an east Indian dialect, who identified himself as Steve Jackson from; legal affairs; human affairs; and the US treasury, saying I was in big trouble if I did not call him back. When I called back I reached the voice mail of Adam Jones.
