Philadelphia PA 215-220-4746 never leaves a message.  Within a half hour, sometimes sooner the following number calls:
800 Service: 800-706-7819 never leaves a message.  And then we wait another half hour, or less, and the following calls:
Portfolio Recovery: 404-719-4368 never leaves a message.
Our number is unlisted, which we now realize is a waste of money.  We have had this number for 3 years and from the very first day it was installed we were getting calls for some woman we never heard of.  Now they don't bother leaving messages but continue to call, and we assume they are hoping we will get angry enough to pick up.  Not going to happen.  If you aren't in our phone as a valid number (family, friend, businesses we deal with) we are not picking up.  And we know you aren't calling on behalf of our credit card company because they know to contact us via email or certified letter.  LOSERS!!

Debt Collector
It was a debt collector Convergent Outstourcing Inc when I answered only to be instantly put on hold a recording plays while you are on hold, "Hello, please hold for the first available representative. It is important that we speak with you. We will be with you shortly."  Trying to collect on debt for 20 years ago and would not listen and I told him to cease and desist

These people are calling to collect a debt paid in 1998 or 2003; either way, I've got no record of it anymore as I don't keep records that long.  It's for Cross Country Bank, an unscrupulous credit card company I enrolled in to re-establish credit 20 years ago.  Not only is the debt paid, but even it weren't the statute of limitations is up, and has been for some time in PA.  In addition, I'm on SSD and have been since 2001.  They have no legal recourse as far as seeking a judgment on me.  I don't own anything and live on a very limited income; the debt was incurred prior to my marriage in 2006. They ask for me using my former married name that was changed in 2004, so I simply tell them there is no one here by that name.  Then they go away for three to four years.  If they persist, one of the things I discovered you can do is to write them a letter stating they are in violation of the Fair Credit Act (check the statute of limitations in your respective state), give them the dates of when you paid this outstanding bill, or when it went to collection.  Advise them that your next step will be contacting your attorney.  Do this in a letter!  Do not have a conversation with them or it is an acknowledgement of the debt.

Best of luck!

Called here the past two days. The calls are annoying. They leave badly garbled automated messages, some of which are no longer than a sound bite. Can't understand the company name they give when I call back their number; it's like they can't say it fast enough. Maybe they have a contest around the call center where the telemarketer that can say their fake company name the fastest wins a free coffee mug or something... "Convergent?" "Component?" "Rapid Mumblers, Inc?"
It's beyond annoying to be left messages every single day, only to be instantly put on hold when you call them back. A recording plays while you are on hold, "Hello, please hold for the first available representative. It is important that we speak with you. We will be with you shortly.".
The above recording will play over and over, or you will be switched over to some sort of voice mail service. The voice mail is full of course, so you won't be able to leave a message. You can then either play extension number guessing games or hang-up. 8999 is a working extension number. I was connected to that extension, and it disconnected my call.

But... It is important that they speak with me!

I *69ed the number and called them back to inform them that there was no one here by the name they were asking for and to please remove my number.... Since then I haven't had anymore problems out of them. Just tell them they are calling the wrong number and no one lives here by that name.  They are calling my place of business which is not allowed per Attorney General so if they will not stop calling your business or home after asking them to quit you need to ncontact the attorney general and fill out a complaint..... Thats all I got for ay!!!

Do you REALLY think typing in "Stop calling" is going to work?
They don't even know who you are, let alone if they even bothered to check this website.
Since the DO NOT CALL list is mostly a joke, and most of these "companies" Spoof the Caller ID
number, your best bet is to just not answer, mute the ringer, or buy a call blocker.

Idiots, sheesh!

They call every day.  A a woman's voice recording gives three options....have no idea what they want.  The recording asked for my husband by name and yet we only got this number less than 2 months ago and it is supposed to be UNLISTED.  They are driving me nuts.  I would really like to know who they are and why they are calling.
