This person is still at it. I had appliances for sale on craigslist and same scenario, send extra money and to wire the difference to the shipper. As soon as I got the text I googled and found this page. So I played along and gave this person the name "Jack Mieove= Jack Me ...well you get the point and an address to an old job I had left. Well they fell for it mailed a check and the tracking number. I than responded and copied and pasted the links about this scam. Answer (by text)from them was one of their employees made a mistake and that's why people thought it was a scam...well I never got a name from this person or company name for that matter. I get sick and tired of these parasites doing this so I figured I would waste their time and money(even though it only cost postage) to mess with them.  After I told them this was crap they still kept asking if I deposited the check? My last response was a copy of this link and told them to enjoy. Hopefully everyone is getting smart enough not to fall prey to these bottom feeding leeches. I had fun and I had to chuckle about the name. A little juvenile I know, but got to get even some how. I would advise anyone else who sees this number should sign it up for at least two spam accounts. I know I will.

It most definitely is a scam. They are most likely going to try and convince you to deposit the check and wire the excess funds somewhere. The check is most likely fake and you would be the one suffering if you follow their directions.  If or when they contact you, you can tell them one of two things: 1) you shredded the check since it was obviously a mistake and you did not want to deal with it; or, 2) you turned the check over to your bank's fraud division to investigate and are awaiting their findings.  I'd actually do number 2 and tell them that I did.

LOL,this # texted me about an item I have on CL this evening, not recognising it I googled it and found this. So we exchanged Q & A about the item,he/she mentioned they aren't local and would "pay your asking price". I txted him back "Cash and carry, local p/u only",it was 7 hours with no reply. During that time,I called my brother-in-law who is an assistant US Attorney,he laughed it off too (I called him so I wouldn't be lying....too much),txted them back that I'd called my bro-in-law,that he'd called a friend high up in the police dept and they would be tracking him down and getting hold of the police in MI to coordinate. Then said "You know,if you put half the effort into even ANY job as you do this b***s***-even security gaurding-you'd earn a decent living, and it would be more consistant pay than this scamcould possibly be...but I guess maybe you're just too stupid to hold down any real jobs...dumba**",LOL!

This my number contacted me in regards to a craigslist ad. They are not local and my feelings at that they are scammers. From seeing previous comments, I would think that I am correct!

I am so glad people take the time to report these scammers! I check internet every time I get a weird text or email about items for sale. This guy (from Michigan) wanted a dented fridge in south Texas!  Do they think we are all that stupid??

I, too, have items listed on Craigslist (spokane) and thought it very odd to have someone from so far away inquiring about my listing.  When I sent a message through text asking where he/she is located, I didn't get any further response.
