Why do you guys get " Heather "???
I get some guy that can't speak English...ugh!! It's so NOT FAIR!!!  lol

The last time they called, I gave them an old credit card number that had been laying around. The kids love play shopping with them.
So the guy goes on to say ok, good...hold please while I get my manager...do NOT hang up okay?
I said "I will remain on the line "...he said " ok, good" ...several clicks and a guy that spoke a little better English came on. He asked me my name, age, rank, serial number, etc..,
I told him that I was ( my worst enemy from school days ) gave him my brother's anniversary date ( cause he's divorced ) and told him that my lucky number was 7...isn't that everyone's lucky number? lol

He told me to hold the line...I said ok...a few clicks...I hung up.

I pushed *60 and then #01# on my phone...and voila!! Blocked!!

Your information is totally correct, and in addition it has been reported in the press that most of the people (creatures) employed by the "card services" scammers are drug addicts, trying to make some money for their next fix by cheating folks.People need to be made aware of this scam before they are ripped off.

Please don't be fooled by the numbers displayed on the caller id. The caller is actually the "card services" scammers, who use all spoofed (false) numbers They try to portray themselves as working with the various credit card companies, in an attempt to get your credit card number. When they succeed in getting that number the unsuspecting victim will notice hundreds, if not thousands of dollars charged to it on their next statement. This scam has been going on down here in the U.S.for years, and preys mainly on the elderly and the gullible. BEWARE AND WARN OTHERS!!!  If you would be interested in how I eliminated their annoying, and potentially costly calls coming to my and other numbers simply Google my name for information.

----------------------------------------Tips for Handling Telemarketers -----------------------------
   Three Little Words That Work!!

(1)The three little words are: 'Hold On, Please...'
Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.

Then when you eventually hear the phone company's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.

These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting..

   (2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?

This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.

This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a 'real' sales person to call back and get someone at home.

What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialled the call, and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!!!

   ----------------------------------------------------------------- Junk Mail Help: ---------------------------------------------

When you get ads enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these ads with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away.

When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.

Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular postage, 'IF' and when they receive them back.

It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.

One of Andy Rooney 's (60 minutes) ideas.

Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner toAmerican Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back!
If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you send them.

You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 60 cents.

The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're paying for it...Twice!

Let's help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that's why they need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea!

If enough people follow these tips, it will work I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.

                           Worth A Read
 ---------------------------------------  E-Mail Tracker Programs ---------------------------------------

The man that sent this information is a computer tech.  He spends a lot of time clearing the junk off computers for people and listens to complaints about speed.  All forwards are not bad, just some.  Be sure you read the very last paragraph.
   _________________________________________

    He wrote:
By now, I suspect everyone is familiar with snopes.com and/or truthorfiction.com for determining whether information received via email is just that:  true/false or fact/fiction.  Both are excellent sites.

   Advice from snopes.com   VERY IMPORTANT!!

   1) Any time you see an email that says "forward this on to '10' (or however many) of your friends", "sign this petition", or "you'll get bad luck" or "you'll get good luck" or "you'll see something funny on your screen after you send it" or whatever --- it almost always has an email tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and emails of those folks you forward to.  The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of 'active' email addresses to use in SPAM emails or sell to other Spammers.  Even when you get emails that demand you send the email on if you're not ashamed of God/Jesus --- that is email tracking, and they are playing on our conscience.  These people don't care how they get your email addresses - just as long as they get them.  Also, emails that talk about a missing child or a child with an incurable disease "how would you feel if that was your child" --- email tracking.  Ignore them and don't participate!

   2) Almost all emails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid inFlorida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards.  All it was, and all any of this type of email is, is a way to get names and 'cookie' tracking information for telemarketers and Spammers -- to validate active email accounts for their own profitable purposes.

You can do your Friends and Family members a GREAT favor by sending this information to them.  You will be providing a service to your friends.  And you will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam emails in the future!

Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listing regardless how inviting they might sound! Or make you feel guilty if you don't! It's all about getting email addresses and nothing more.

You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT!

Instead, you will be getting tons of junk mail later and very possibly a virus attached!  Plus, we are helping the Spammers get rich!  Let's not make it easy for them!

ALSO:  Email petitions are NOT acceptable to government or any other organization - e.g. Social security, etc.  To be acceptable, petitions must have a "signed signature" and full address of the person signing the petition, so this is a waste of time and you are just helping the email trackers.
And another important point is to delete all previous names from your emails before forwarding!!! Send emails to your entire address list BCC then everyone after you doesn't get your friend's email address.

250 860-7097 An other IDIOT,
How to make a complaint about your telephone service
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/INFO_SHT/T12.htm
Know your rights

Contact your telephone company

Contact the CRTC with issues about accessibility of telecommunications services

Contact the CCTS

Contact the CRTC with your complaint

Information you should include in your complaint

Anonymous complaints

Privacy

My phone service will be disconnected. What can I do?

What happens to a complaint?

How long will it take to hear back from the CRTC?

What happens if the company does not respond to my complaint?

Is there anything else I can do?
Know your rights

The CRTC wants you to know your rights, and requires major telephone companies (for example, Bell Canada, Telus, Bell Aliant, MTS Allstream, SaskTel, Télébec and Northwestel) to give you this information. These companies must include in all residential phone books:

a reference to the Terms of Service
a statement that the terms and conditions of service may vary depending on a customer?s location and service provider
a statement directing customers to contact their service provider for details

The Terms of Service may include:

   obligation to provide service
   deposits and alternatives
   customer liability for calls
   confidentiality of customer records
refunds in cases of service problems
   limitation of liability
   payment time limit
   termination of service

Contact your telephone company

If you have a complaint about your telephone service, the first step is to call your telephone company directly, and tell them your issue. Many complaints can be resolved at this stage.

If this doesn't solve your problem, contact the telephone company again, in writing.
If you're still not satisfied, there are two options

Depending on who your service provider is, you can take your complaint to the next level through:

the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS), an independent agency that helps resolve your complaints about your telephone service; check the CCTS list of members to see if your service provider is a member; if so, contact the CCTS with your complaint

Some complaints about regulated services are outside of the CCTS mandate, but can be handled by the CRTC. If you file a complaint with the CCTS that should go to the CRTC, it will be forwarded to the CRTC and you'll be notified that the complaint has been forwarded.

   OR

the CRTC; if your service provider isn?t a member of CCTS, contact the CRTC with your complaint

Keep in mind that the CRTC doesn?t regulate all telephone services or all service providers. For example: competitive local exchange carriers, resellers, and wireless carriers aren?t regulated by the CRTC, but they may be members of the CCTS.
Contact the CRTC with issues about accessibility of telecommunications services

The CRTC deals with complaints about accessibility. For example, if you ask for your phone bill in Braille, and your phone company doesn?t provide it, contact the company again. If you?re still not satisfied, contact the CRTC.

The CCTS deals with other types of complaints (for example, your phone company bills you for a service you didn?t subscribe to), including complaints from a person with a disability.

This applies to all service providers (telephone, cellular and VOIP, internet services), even if they or some of their services are not regulated by the CRTC.
Contact the CCTS

   email: info@ccts-cprst.ca
   mail: P.O. Box 81088, Ottawa, Ontario K1P 1B1
   fax: 1-877-782-2924
   toll free telephone: 1-888-221-1687
toll free TTY: 711 or 1-800-855-0511 (voice)

Contact the CRTC with your complaint

If your telephone company isn?t a member of the CCTS and your service is regulated by the CRTC, you can contact the CRTC with a complaint.

   on-line form: Complaints and inquiries
mail: Secretary General, CRTC, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0N2
   fax:  819-994-0218
   toll free telephone: 1-877-249-CRTC (2782)
   toll free TTY: 1-877-909-CRTC (2782)
alternative formats: other formats that improve accessibility for people with disabilities

If you register a complaint by phone, you may also need to send a written version to make sure the CRTC has all the relevant information.
Information you should include in your complaint

Make sure you include the following:

name of the subscriber as it appears on the bill, and any telephone number(s) related to your complaint
subscriber?s telephone number, email, or postal address as contact information
a brief description of the problem and/or your concerns
in some cases, copies of billing information
the name of your service provider

Anonymous complaints

The CRTC doesn't follow up on anonymous complaints. Telephone companies have the right to know who makes a complaint, and what the complaint is. They also have the right to respond.

You should feel free to file a complaint with the CRTC, without fear of retaliation from the telephone company.
Privacy

The CRTC sends your complaint, as well as your name, address, and telephone number, to the telephone company so it can investigate and resolve your complaint.

Under relevant legislation, the company must protect the privacy of your personal information.
My phone service will be disconnected. What can I do?

If your telephone company has given you notice that your service will be disconnected:

contact your telephone company to make arrangements that both of you agree on
if you live in a regulated area and unable to reach an agreement with your telephone company, call the CRTC at 1-877-249-CRTC (2782)
if you live in an unregulated area, contact the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services (CCTS) at: 1-888-221-1687 or visit their website: http://www.ccts-cprst.ca/

In an emergency, the CRTC can provide an immediate, but temporary, resolution.
What happens to a complaint?

If your complaint is deemed an emergency, it will be dealt with right away.

For other complaints against regulated companies:

the CRTC asks the telephone company to address your concerns.; the company generally has 20 calendar days to respond to you and report back to the CRTC
CRTC's Client Services reviews your complaint and the response, and decides whether follow-up action is needed; CRTC staff may:
decide that the telephone company's response is satisfactory, with no further action
ask for more information from you or the telephone company to determine what, if any, further action is needed
refer your complaint to the CRTC's Telecommunications or Legal Directorates for further investigation

The CRTC may decide to continue with a formal proceeding to resolve issues raised by your complaint. If no further action comes out of the proceeding, the CRTC may not contact you again.
How long will it take to hear back from the CRTC?

You should receive a response from the CRTC within 10 working days after the CRTC receives the complaint, letting you know that your complaint was received.

The CRTC may then forward your complaint to the telephone company, asking for a response to your concerns, usually within 20 calendar days.

The time it takes to completely resolve a complaint depends on its complexity.
What happens if the company does not respond to my complaint?

If the company doesn't respond within three weeks, the CRTC sends a written reminder.

If your complaint alleges that the company infringed the Telecommunications Act, the Terms of Service, or CRTC policies or regulations, CRTC staff will decide if any further process is required and if any regulatory action is warranted.
Is there anything else I can do?

If you're not satisfied with the response to a complaint handled by CRTC staff, you can request in writing that the CRTC review the complete file and issue a decision.

Caller ID is your best defense. Do not pick up calls if you see a name and/or number (or no number) that you recognize. If you should pick up such a call, and a voice tells you to press a certain number, HANG UP immediately. Yes, hitting ##### lots of times will confuse their computer, too.

Report the details of such calls to the FCC or the FTC (or their equivalent), and of course, make a report here, too, at 800notes!
