I was unable to answer the phone before the answering machine picked up, but they could have left a message, instead of hanging up. I don't know anything about this phone number or caller, but it could be a political thing. Bizarre calls and calling patterns crop up like mushrooms in dung, just before an election, and this year is no exception.

This is the first from this particular number. It has been part of a series of odd calls on Halloween day. Since there are a lot of "first calls" from many different numbers...and nobody else has posted here or anywhere else about the numbers, it seems like a fair bet they will all end by November 9th. That they are all coming in a cluster, many from probably the same source, strongly suggests they're related to the November 8th -- week from Tuesday -- election.

And, that they're coming from a candidate who just lost my vote, if I figure out which one to vote against.

There have also been calls following the pattern from the following similar numbers, which have no Caller ID similarity to this number:

Of course, commercial telemarketing doesn't stop just because it's election season. So, it could be some soap seller, an insurance or retirement scheme, credit card, or interest reduction huckster....the possibilities are endless.

Doesn't matter who they are, or why they're calling....harassment is harassment, and I sue the suckers. A simple message on my machine, and no further calls, would save them a lot of money.
