I just received a message from them saying it was the state police in my state and if I did not call them back within 30 mins I would be arrested. Very thick accent could barely understand them. The number that showed up on my phone was 911. The caller said he was with the state police and that I had a lawsuit against me. I will be contacting the Attorney General's office.

I recently got this letter and I was going to pay it, until the person on the phone wanted me to go to the bank and get a certified check to send out and it was for 100.00 and I would be able to pay for it later.I found this kinda weird and decided againts it and they just stayed calling me, so the next time I told them that I would have to speak to my lawyer and the calls stopped.

My husband received a call from this number saying he was from the Attorney General's office and a warrant was going out for his arrest due to an unpaid payday loan from a year and a half ago. We never took out a payday loan a year and a half ago. We took one out last month as a last resort, which we paid back?so obviously this company received our information in that way. Thank you for the peace of mind, everyone! We'll block the number and report it.

Got a call from 911 though it could something regarding family. Message says police officer Wilson. Then when I calm back he says he's from the attorney generals office. I asked for his address then so I could research. Someone was the background was telling him what to do and say and he couldn't get me the address for nearly 5 mins. Tried to act like he couldn't hear me. He had a ba accent said I'd be arrested if I didn't pay. I don't recall anything about cash advance. I told him I was going to research this further with my bank and he didn't want to hear that.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I got a call from someone with a thick Indian accent who claims to be an officer & calling from State police. I was told I needed to call Sam Wilson back within 30 mins or I was going to get picked up due to a warrant. First of all the caller ID said 911 but the vm has the number unknown. However I called back & try to get information but when I kept asking the guy for info so I could give to my attorney he got frustrated & said are you going to pay or not. I told him no not until I get the info I needed. Then he hung up. No one will answer the number now.

I just got a call from someone who said their name is Mark Johnson from Marion County Police Department ID Badge #UA812.
Said there is a warrant out for my arrest because of an on-line loan with Cash America over 1.5 years ago. I've never had anything to do with Cash America.  Said I had to call Sam Wilson at 312-428-6248 out of Chicago.  This man went round and round to me still I"m feeling like its a scam so it makes me nervous I had my identity taken over around this time. Said I was going to be in jail for 6 months if I didn't make arrangement to take the case out of court and pay them $900 but I had to use my debit or charge card or get a card from Speedway to pay them $210.00 right now.  OMG...what will people do next.

So everyone called the BBB and the Attorney General Office for this right? Ok, that's what I'm about to do as well.
My initial call came from and emergency number (317) rest was blocked.

I just got a call that said they were from the sheriffs department and if I did not call within the next 30 minutes I would be arrested, yet the reason wasn't described in any way. Has anybody ever been called by the police to tell you that they were coming out to arrest you.

I just got the same email.  Funny thing, for an "official" document, there are alot of typos and mis-spellings. LOL

I tried calling the phone number, just for fun, and it's been disconnected!  I guess the Attorney General didn't pay their phone bill.

Got the 312 # from an email from alan daniels who is from India and says he is an attorney. Attached the attorney generals letter and threatened to have the police come and pick me up in 20 minutes if I didn't pay up!
The caller says he is Sam Wilson in a thick Indian accent - and is on such a cheap phone the line breaks up a lot.  He says he is collecting for Cash Advance usa too.

All you can do is let them know you are aware they are running a criminal extortion scam, have NO intention of paying them anything and have turned them into the authorities. Be sure and place fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, report them to the FTC and notify your bank and employer that you are being targeted by criminal extortionists operating overseas.

same here I don't understand how they are able to get away with this.  I mean at the same point it is our own stupidity to pay back something we never retrieved I actually just sent and ugly email to the Cash Advance people demanding they send me a copy of approval before sending me to court.  I did apply for a loan there but was denied.  I started freaking out after reading the so called final warning from "attorney general John bowe"
they must be stopped what can we do .

Hi, I got a call from the same number. The man said he is from the state police dept. He said that they were going to file a lawsuit or call against me. First of all, the state police will not call you.  I have never seen anything  in writing. Please do not answer or give any info out.  They are trying to steal your identity. They aren't too smart. They are Indian speaking people. They can't talk well.

I've received similar messages.  I'm not certain who they are attempting to collect for but a woman leaves her name and a title something like "Investigator" and a case number.  She acts as if she is calling from a state or government type of office but it's a complete lie.  She never says what agency she represents.  I will never call her back.  If this is legitimate they can file a claim with the attorney general or take the matter up in small claims court.  This has to be done in the county that I reside in.  They can not issue a warrant!  That cracks me up!

I received a message from this number from a man, obviously calling from a call center, stating he is Chuck Wilson.  His extremely thick accent leads me to believe that English is not his first language.  He stated he is calling from the State Police and that I must call him back immediately.

This is totally an illegal way to collect a debt.  Do I owe money?  Yes, but I have no idea who this is.  I've had to default on many loans due to unemployment.  If the creditors want to file a lawsuit in small claims court they have that right.  They must do that in the county that I reside in.  They can not impersonate law officials.  There is no such thing as debtors prison so I have no fear of being jailed for an unpaid unsecured loan.  They are just going to have to chalk it up as a loss.

Do not worry about calling these people back.  They are using illegal means in an attempt to collect a debt.

Also - I found this very handy.  Downloan Mr. Number to your mobile phone.  You can block number so they will not be able to leave a message.  Mr. Number hangs up on them.

I have just received a email as well,  This email states
"The federal law offices are pursuing you under the jorisdiction regarding three serious alegations"
(1) Collateral cheque fraud
(2) Theft by deseption
(3) Violason of federal banking regulation

(THE EMAIL WAS 2 PAGES LONG SO,  I JUST SHOWED YOU THE GOOD STUFF, I COPIED & PASTED DIRECTLY FROM THE EMAIL)
(THIS EMAIL IS FUNNY,  NOT ONLY IS IT 100% FAKE, BUT IT HAS ABOUT 30 MISSPELLED WORDS)

As of now rather than chasing u for money, they have simply decide
write this money as loss, deemed to be stolen as well as press charges
against you under the jurisdiction . Now the legal case is filed
against your name is under section 9 chapter 19 which just means 1
thing for you...
