Please report these calls to the Washington and Oregon Attorney Generals Offices ... this appears to be some group operating out of or using phone lines or cells in Western Washington State and Northwestern Oregon region requesting personal and credit card information for bogus cruise or port fees (most likely a scam to defraud or for identity theft purposes ... definitely not a legit operation).

"Nuisance phone calls not originating in Tillamook County
Police here have been fielding complaints from all over the United States about harassing calls from a telemarketer with a 503 area code phone number.
Tillamook Police Chief Terry Wright said complaints have been coming for about three months.
Even though the calls have been traced to a 503 number, Wright said, they are not originating in Tillamook County or anywhere else in Oregon.
The number - (503) 457-1034 - is registered to Pacific Telecom Communications Group Inc., a telemarketing company in Los Angeles, according to the website for the Oregon Public Utility Commission.
According to another website, Scaminformer.com, Pacific Telecom Communications Group provides telephone services for "two layers of hidden companies that refuse to abide by federal regulations regarding telemarketing."
A number of complaints posted online about calls from that number say recipients are asked questions of a medical nature. A Google search of the phone number turned up an online pharmacy that does not give its location or phone number and can only be contacted by sending an email through the website.
Scaminformer.com said similar complaints have been lodged with authorities in Montana about calls emanating from a phone number with a 406 area code.
According to Wright, no complaints have been received by his department from Tillamook County residents. He added that local law enforcement agencies have no jurisdiction in the matter.
The police chief urged those who have received harassing phone calls from telemarketers to contact the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357 or online at www.ftc.gov and file a complaint."
Good luck! Only if enough people file informal complaints at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints, is there a chance of putting these scumbags out of business.
Thanks.
P.S. If you get these guys calling from the exchanges listed above, please cut and paste this information to the comments on those numbers. With them having thousands of numbers, this is going to take a community effort to get the FTC off their duff!

these are all the same company. Any time you click one to remove yourself, they then call you back on a different number. Its absolutely ridiculous. Something about Ann from political opinions of america? Either way, I'm tired of them calling me because they always call super early in the morning. I wish there was a way to stop this scam.

I cannot emphasize this enough ... report them!
here's how 2012-05-27 20:35:29 Unknown
We all need to be very diligent in reporting each and every one of these scam calls right away. The crooks are spoofing lots of different numbers, but they all need to be reported.
When they call, hang up. Report them. Do not press any number 'to be removed' because you are only confirming that yours is a real number to their auto-dialer.
Do not press any number to speak to a representative because they are con artists who will steal your credit card and other personal information. If you ask them to stop calling, they will only laugh at you or curse at you. Plus you have confirmed that yours is a real number and they will call you even more.
No. Hang up and report them immediately.

The only things about Obama that are relevant to this web site are:
1. His lax enforcement of the DNC list law.
2. His call for companies to set up telemarketing operations near military bases to employ the spouses of active duty servicemen. Apparently, Obama sees nothing wrong with telemarketing, which is about as out of touch with the American people as you can get.
Jack 2012-05-26 18:18:22 Unknown
First of all, Babs in NC and everyone else, please don't answer a call when you're driving. All of the evidence clearly shows that it is more dangerous than drunk driving, even if it's hands-free, which makes no real difference. Killing someone in an auto accident is something you'll never really recover from emotionally.
Secondly, surveys do not offer gifts for participating. That would bias the survey. Note that they say there will be a few little charges with that free cruise. That's where they scam you.
Thirdly, you don't have to put your cell phone number on the DNC list. The DNC is for landline phones only. The law prohibits ALL telemarketers from calling cell phones, period. If a telemarketer is calling you on your cell phone, 100% guarantee it is a scam. Unfortunately, the US is one of the very few countries where cell phone users have to pay for incoming calls.
Jack 2012-05-26 18:03:37 Unknown
Getting on the DNC reduces, but does not totally eliminate the number of telemarketing you get.
There are 2 problems. One is the exemptions: for so-called charities, for political campaigns, and for surveys, which unfortunately you can never trust because many of them are pretexting or phishing calls.
The other exemption is for criminal organizations, who are calling illegally, but being criminals, don't mind breaking the DNC law, esp. given the federal government's lax enforcement. (This call is a scam.)
A further problem is that Obama recently said he wants the spouses of active duty servicemen to find employment as telemarketers, apparently totally unaware of how the great majority of Americans feel about telemarketing and seeing nothing wrong with pests and scam artists.

I also get unwanted calls from this number. I just push the on button then the off button to keep from hearing the phone ringing. It is quite annoying....but know nothing that anyone can do to stop these unwanted calls. Hopefully sooner or later they will take me off their call list.

This number came up as Yonk Yonk on my caller id....
They hang up when I answer.
I called back and they say it's for an "expired" political survey....
1. It could actually be a political survey...which "votes" their way the moment you answer the phone... Very shady but quite probable.
2. It could be a sleazy way of getting around the do not call list......
3. When you call back it could be logging your number to a different system so they can put you on a list of people who actually answer their phones AND call back.... So they can further harass you later...under some other unknown BS number....
Annie Miller 2012-05-24 21:42:14 Survey
I have received 3 of these calls - when I answer they hang up . When you call back the recorded message says it is for a survey that is now closed.
Mike Denney 2012-05-24 21:08:06 Unknown
Daniel,
thanks...I'd consider this doing everybody else a 'solid'...
reporting them to their ISP is the closest thing you can do to 'hit them where it hurts'...maybe they're limited as to choice for ISP in their area, and they'll give up and move to another seedy roadside hotel.
I got one call from them the other day, then one from a nearly identical number (only last-4 different) today...it's a group that will also be sued by Yahoo...aka 'Yonk Yonk' (todays number--360-529-6912--maybe they've already been subpoenaed by Yahoo!
Makes me want to hate watching 'Workaholics'...but I can't stop!
HA!
