I finally called Wells Fargo & asked for my payoff amount so I could transfer to another mortgage company - the only way to get off their call list.  They tried to talk me out of it & gave me a phone number (888) 528-8460.  This is their "Privacy Preference Line" number which is automated & listed me as someone who WANTED to get those phone calls.  I changed my status.  Don't know if it worked, but if it doesn't, I'm going to find another mortgage co.  The threat of doing so definitely seemed to scare them a bit.

Pretty much the same as all the rest. I am a caregiver & these calls keep coming on a DAILY basis. I have told them repeatedly that although I mortgage with Wells Fargo, I am NOT interested in getting the Insurance package that they try getting you to accept. The package is worthless as there are 2 people listed on the Deed thereby making it VOID should anything happen to me as Wells Fargo would only go after the other Co-Buyer for the payment. I've asked them continually to PLEASE remove me from their list but obviously to NO Avail. Even though I have Caller ID & just Don't answer the call when I see it, It's still exasperating as we live in a 2-Story house & I have to keep a phone turned off so as not to disturb the person I care for causing me to miss those IMPORTANT calls that I need to take. I've pretty much learned to IGNORE the call, but it's still aggrevating.

I have experienced the same harassment as reported by the previous phone customers.  I live in California.

The subject phone number is listed below.

This started, with me, all at once.  This leads me to believe that phone number lists are sold and distributed rapidly.  This is the same as phishing on a computer.  They find out if a phone works and attempt to get information under the ruse of a request.

The phone companies are making millions of dollars from their blocked and unblocked toll free numbers and you can’t identify the actual name of the number holder as it is kept confidential by the company.  Apparently there’s too much money to be lost if the bad numbers were turned off.  My major phone company, AT&T, has written to me that they do not investigate “these types of calls” “collection or telemarketing are not illegal”.

The Telemarketers are using old phone lists. They use the name of my deceased father who has been gone for 32 years; many phone and state that the e-mail from “(father’s name) @reborn.net” appears on their request.  The name on the account was discontinued over 13 years ago.  I normally have a very quiet phone with only a few calls a week.

I started receiving these calls for my deceased father on 7-30-08 and have received many, many calls ever since, at all hours, seven days a week. Many Telemarketers have called  with the same pretext.  "We are returning a request so the "Do not call list" doesn't apply to me." many different numbers call.

Since 8-6-08, when I had caller ID and privacy manager installed I have received the following phone calls with hang ups or weird theatrics such as the same person imitating various ethnic accents:

800-809-8813 “US Medical Supply” &-30-08 at 7am with numerous names given on 7-30&31-08, this started the chain. 5x
866-852-2520 ”Lasic Vision Institute” which is/was located in Rancho Cordova, “Real Corp”. 3x
866-583-1670 A.I.G  “American International- Long Term Care Insurance Group”. 3 x
866-480-0048 “Voicelink” phone service plus a package was received two days later, addressed to my deceased father, via U.S. mail marked “Invoice”.  The package was returned to the mail unopened and marked “Wrong Address”.  I expect the bill collector ruse to be used next.

The following are from my caller ID with hang ups on the answering machine:
800-259-7317 3x – “800 Services”
800-519-7502 12x – “800 Services”
800-258-7317 11x – “800 Services”
800-584-4150 2 x – “800 Services”
866-583-1670 – “800 Services”
800-259-1317 – “800 Services”
800-927-1235 2x – “800 Services”
800-927-1239 – “800 Services”
402-2232172 – “Custom Response”

I have caller ID and privacy manager on my landline with AT&T and am screening calls.  I am, for now, keeping a log of the numbers, maybe some one will read this that can implement the “Do not call” list against these a** holes, we have the numbers.

I don't understand why the appropriate agencies, with the enforcement powers, or the phone companies, don’t respond to the legal issue and customer/tax payer complaints.

The "Do not call list" was a good thing but if no action is taken against the "The "I'm returning a request" ruse, it will only get worse.

Maybe we should start requesting our elected officials to respond to their constituents and enforce the law.  We passed a law against being phone spammed so let’s enforce it.  All the enforcing agency has to do is go to the phone company, secure owner information (subpoenas are easy) and take action including fining them and pulling the plug.

I don't understand why the FCC or the FTC or the phone companies that we complain to can't do what we did and look at the number of on-line complaints against specific violators.  We pay taxes and phone bills.

All they have to do is call one of these numbers and get on the list. I'm not sure how many civil servants it would take to do this.  It seems like it might be good to have a few attention getters by law enforcement and/or the phone company and stop the Ruse of "I'm calling back" with “Do not call list” fines to pay for the effort.  Looks like “Do not call” didn’t work.  The Boiler rooms are back.

My only suggestions are: #1 Don’t let them get to you (they love that).  Use caller ID and never answer unknown.  Use call screening, if you don’t know them and if the call is important they can leave a message.

I am going to keep submitting this same post with each toll-free hang up I get from different numbers with an up dated list.

I work odd hours and have a small child. Bed time is 8pm. My hubby works am hours and TRIES to sleep aroun noon to whenever. They call starting @ 10am, noon, 6pm, and around 8:40pm every day. Either I'm asleep, he's asleep, or we are trying to sleep. I have called several times, been polite, been rude, called Wells Fargo my mortgage company (also not my choice, loan was sold to them) My caller ID number says 402-223-2175. I looked it up, same Custome Response company. I also have unlisted number, am on do not call registry, and have requested/demanded number be removed. I did get the mangers # 402-228-8322. If anyone gets these people's home number, let me know. I will call them and hang up while I'm at work and they are trying to sleep and have family time to sit together @ dinner. At least Wells Fargo has American Operators. Before Wells Fargo, mortgage was with Option One, call center was in India. They even called once during a "female doctor visit" and didn't understand why I was "a little displeased" about thier timing and why I wanted not to be bothered. Never could get an operator in the states. I tried calling for four months, I finally just refinanced my home. It was worth the hassle and I got a fixed rate.

I just got a call from these people, didn't answer it. Looked it up to see who it was and saw all the other comments.

Here is what their website says about them - Custom Response Teleservices:

"CRT is a member of the American Teleservices Association (ATA) dedicated to upholding ethical industry guidelines and the lawful practice of teleservices. Licensed agents: CRT maintains a team of over 50 licensed insurance agents. Representatives are individually licensed in multiple states and carry a combination of licenses in life, health, property and casualty insurance, allowing flexibility in developing customized programs based on clients’ needs."

Ethical. Yeah, right . . .

Same as all the other posted comments - I called Wells Fargo and they advised me that Custom Response did not represent them and were trying to do what they could to assist me.  They re-affirmed my 'do not call' status and suggested that Custom was representing Assured Insurance - which charges me for some type of mortage coverage THAT I NEVER REQUESTED!  Wells Fargo advised they had experienced this before - WF customers ending up with coverage they never requested.  They advised I should cancel the unwanted coverage by Assured Ins and then if the calls continue- to report CR to the Federal Do Not Call list website which I belong.  Wells Fargo was very nice and supportive.
Until I can get the calls to stop - well, let's just say they have reduced me to drastic tactics.  If I have to put up with them, I hope they enjoy the fire whistle I have lying next to the phone!!!

These people call nearly daily.  They are Custom Response, a telemarketing company.  When I answer, they hang up.  When I call back, I they tell me they are calling on "behalf" of Wells Fargo Insurance Services.  I've asked them at least 5 times to remove my number.  I get all kind of stories (they want more information in order to process my request, they will take care of it etc.).  They CONTINUE to call.

I do not do business with Wells Fargo Insurance though Wells Fargo services my mortgage (my mortgage was sold to them not because I chose to do business with them).  I'm sure they think this entitles them to solicit me.  Wells Fargo management needs to WAKE up and realize the only thing they've insured is that  I will NEVER buy anything from them. And that they are gaining negative press that is easily shared via the internet!

I've been getting calls from Custom Response ever since my mortgage was purchased from another company by Wells Fargo. I tried not answering the phone to no avail, so now I've downloaded audio files from:
http://payphone-directory.org/sounds.html
Now when they call I click answer and play a random phone file. They get charged for the call, I'd assume, and I get a little payback.

Called number back and it's Wells Fargo offering optional insurance products. Unfortunately, once you've done business with Wells Fargo, you'll receive calls from all kinds of different branches (locally and nationally) soliciting your business to borrow money.  They've been soliciting me off and on for the last four years.  Luckily, by calling back some of the phone numbers (after hours), you have an option out.  However, the local branches are a different story. I'm constantly called upon and messages left by six separate branches in the city I live in. "I'm not interested" is never good enough for them. I can only hope by telling each of them "do not call", Wells Fargo will run out of branches calling me.
