When you call the number, they have two options.  If you are a current card holder, press 1.... if you are not and you got a call from them, press 2.... Maybe they are recruiting.

I have kept a list of the calls and times from Nebraska!  At least 7 times in December and tonight was the finale!  I made a formal complaint to the FCC based on the listing above and hope that this will make something happen.  Got the woman in Nebraska very upset after I told her it was harassment for her to call me almost every evening representing the American Breast Cancer Society.

We (husband and me) have gotten many calls from this number.  We have asked 3 times to be removed from their calling list, but still, we get the phone calls.  I'll get hubby to call them tomorrow and ask for customer service?

Has anyone noticed that this number only calls when someone is home? I have caller ID for my home phone on my iPhone. When we are at work, this number never calls. My wife went home sick one day, and 20 minutes after she got home, boom! they called. Wondering if it has anything to do with Comcast knowing when your TV is on? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Don't know anyone in Nebraska.  Unless I am a sweepstakes winner, do NOT call again!

Somehow these calls and callers have got to be stopped!

keep calling and calling! asked to be removed from their calling list in aug., still getting calls. right now trying to call them, after 22 rings {that's right~22 rings!} someone finally answered and i told them again to remove me from their calling list! we shall see....

continue to receive calls - leaves a message to call and gives a case # .  I do not return calls - ask them to contact me via U S mail if it was something important.  Have not gotten any mail as of this day and time.

I have been getting the hang up calls on my second line, which I never give out, and I really hate them.

Just wanted to note a couple things to other posters: charities are exempt from do not call lists, which is part of reason everyone still gets some soliciting calls.  Politicians too, you didn't think they outlaw this tool for themselves, did you? And commercial businesses you have any relationship with. And commercial businesses willing to ignore the law. Sometimes I'm amazed the # of calls has gone down at all!

The reason there is no one there, companies use computers to dial until they reach a person, then assign an operator to answer. So there is no person on their end to leave an answering machine message. Sometimes (apparently pretty often) there is no operator available when a call connects, so it is abandoned. There is actually a percentage in the regulations about how many abandoned calls are acceptable. Of course anyone who would swindle terminally ill children probably isn't worried about the legal percentage.

Depending on a variety of factors, caller id messages often list just a state and phone number -- does not mean it's a state-sponsored call in anyway (other than location of origin).

Keep getting these calls... never home to answer (thank god).... next time they call I am going to BLOW A WHISTLE RIGHT INTO THE PHONE!

If you have a powerful handgun, take the phone out in the back yard, set on the ground and discharge the gun next to the phone (dont shoot the phone). Make sure to have the barrel close to the talking part of the phone. They wont call you back a** their ears will probobly be bleeding due to bursted eardrums. Had several annoying solicitors stopped that way.

Called at 10:19 AM today.  When I answered on about the 3.rd or 4th ring there was noone on the line.  Caller id only said "NEBRASKA".

Number comes up on ID as "Nebraska". Several calls, no message left. Have tried to call them back but either it is busy or no answer.

Got a call around 8:14 PM from this number. I am also on DNC although that hasn't really stopped anyone but I have gotten less. A lady called from the Childrens Wish foundation and said it has to do with children with less than a year to live. The 2nd sentence she said was to put my name down for donation and I promptly said No firmly. She hung up right away and I couldn't even get to ask any questions about the legitmacy of their program. Shady people. Hopefully they won't call again.

Once again, this number called, and when I answered, there was no one there.  I finally dialed it back, and after 34 rings, got "customer service"  at which point I politely but emphatically asked that they remove my number from whatever automated system they are using as I am NOT going to contribute to any charity unless they are going to contribute to ME!  They hung up on me!!

This number called me every morning for 2 weeks, I finally called back the the operator identified herself as "fundraising center" and was very nice about removing my number. She didn't even try to talk me into donating.

i never answer, they never leave a message, they call three times a day, PLEASE stop Calling!!

STOP CALLING ME!!  YOU CALL AT LEAST 5 TIMES A DAY.

Just got a call as well. I don't answer the phone from numbers I don't recognize with the exception of 3 area codes (family). A search led me here, and of course no message was left.

I also got this call with caller ID reading Nebraska.  I did not answer and they hung up.

I just cannot post this in enough places.  If you believe they are not a valid charity or if they say they are anything but a charity and you want to take care of these people, report it to the FCC; it takes a couple of minutes and it is conveniently online. I believe these are definitely scammers since the Omaha Make a Wish Foundation's number is: (402) 333-8999 and none of the other Nebraska chapters have a number that is even close to the one on my caller ID. These a-holes are giving this legitimate charity a bad reputation when they do this type of crap.

08/06/2010: Whoever the "woman jerk" was that called me this morning, I told her that I had already reported their SCAM to the Federal Communications Commission and NEVER call me again. The caller ID reads "NEBRASKA". Wonder if the State of Nebraska is aware of this!

I received the same call and they said it was make a wish foundation.   I said okay I wish the f--- you wouldn't call anymore.   Will see.

I received a voice mail this morning and the number on my caller id was this number, but the caller claimed to be a Jim Kennedy with the Consumer Protection Agency in Washington DC.  He claims that I won a significant amount of money, but I am very suspicious.

Received a call JUly 17, 2010 at 9:21 am; I answered and the lady said Ms. C? I answered " Yes" then she said " This is just a courtesy call- I'll call back".  I said "Hello who is this and she hung up. I called the number back and there is no answer. I too am on the no call list and I get just as many calls as before.

Received a call from them. The woman said she was from Childrens Wish or something like that. At first I thought she said she was from Dish, and when I said I am happy with their competition, she got arrogant and said she was not from Dish but Childrens Wish Network, I told her that although it may be a very worthy charity, I barely make ends meet and cannot make a donation in any amount, I then wished her a good day and closed the connection.
