Unfortunately, being on the "do not call" list does not keep you from debt collectors. They have every right to try to collect on a debt. Please see the following: (pay close attention to the last statement of my comment).

Placing one's number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most, but not all, unsolicited calls. The following are exceptions granted by existing laws and regulations - and these types of organizations can register with donotcall.gov and can purchase telephone lists from the Do Not Call Registry.

The registry only applies to residential lines, not to business lines.
* A person may still receive calls from political organizations.
* The organization Citizens for Civil Discourse has lobbied Congress to close this exception by developing a National Political Do Not Call Registry where voters can register their phone numbers and ask politicians to take the "Do Not Contact Pledge". Its database is not backed by the force of law and as of November 2008, only 3 politicians running for office signed the pledge.
* A person may still receive calls from not-for-profit organizations.
* A person may still receive calls from those conducting surveys.
* A person may still receive calls from companies with which he or she has an existing business relationship for up to 18 months after his or her last purchase, payment, or delivery from it, unless person specifically asks the company not to call again.
* A person may still receive calls from a company up to 31 days after submitting an application or inquiry to that company, unless the company is specifically asked not to call.
* A person may still receive calls from bill collectors (either primary creditors or collection agencies). These callers are, however, regulated by other laws, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which limits them to calling during "reasonable hours." Some creditors may not call debtors who file for bankruptcy protection.

I hope you find this information helpful.

Debt Collector
I just got a call from the same number (407-745-0727), stating to collect a debt from 7 years ago. She stated I paid on the VISA card account for a while, but there was still a balance. First of all, I have never used a Visa (or MC) card unless an absolute emergency and if I used it, they were issued by my bank so the money would come right out of my account. There would be no balance.

I pulled my credit report since she stated it was on there, and all three credit agencies show no UNPAID balances. She said I had to make arrangements today and of course, my answer was No and No and No. Once I receive the info I will review and if it's mine I will call you. I then hung up since she was not listening to me. I was not nice!  She is apparently with Dynamic Recovery Solutions. She was supposed to send me the info via email but I didn't get it. I guess I'll have to wait for the US Mail Service to find out what this is all about!  My advice to anyone who finds themselves in this circumstance, do not pay until you get a copy of what you are supposed to owe. If you don't get any written verification, it is probably a bogus claim.

I am also getting calls from that phone #and others. I view them as bottom feeders . If they actually ever get the correct person, They are going to do what I do if I do not know the Phone # calling me, don't answer the phone. If you do not no the #, DO NOT ANWSER. Collectors are getting desperate and are calling cell phones and phone #'s that do not even belong to the person that has it now. Do as I do If its important, they will leave a message. If it is a collector they will not leave a message.
We all program our cell phones with our friends and families phone numbers. If you get a call and do not know the number that  calling you, just do not answer. You  will be much more happy!!!!!!!!!!!

Debt Collector
A young man called and asked for my mother, when I said she wasn't available and asked who was calling he assumed I was a man and asked if I was the husband, then commented that I sounded "a little rough this morning" but still didn't tell me where he was calling from. I told him how rude he was being and asked again where he was calling from. All he would say is that he's calling from a collection agency but not the name of the company.
