I had this problem. I had someone say to me that they are trying to serve me with papers and that I would be arrested if they don't serve me at the right address. So I called the local police. The officer called the collection agency and of course they denied they even said what they said. It is a scam. They are loosers trying to make a quick buck. If someone was going to sue you they would send you a court summons just make sure you answer it and don't allow them to get a judgement.

The calls come in all times of the day leaving a voice message that he is Clyde Walker of some Law Firm it is  not clear of the firm and has a Asian accent. Giving out my social security number, address and place of employment and that I will be arrested at 11 am at my home or place of work. Phone number 712-283-4255 at 4:51pm on 4/24/2014 central time the first  message was 1 min 28 sec. Then called back from 397-977-7633, 385-313-3975,553-776-0263 hours apart. I received a phone call from 662-743-0402. The man on the line had a heavy Indian accent and stated that a lawsuit had been filed against my social security number. He stated that he was from "Houston Legal Associates" (which, if it exists, has no online presence) and when I indicated that I didn't know what he was talking about, he said he would transfer me to a "Paralegal". The paralegal then said that I was being sued and he read off my social security number and e-mail address and told me that he would read the affadavit he had in front of him for me but that I had to listen all the way through and not interrupt. I refused to confirm my social security number or e-mail address for him and hung up before he could read the affadavit. I then searched for the phone number online and found that it was from Mississippi and listed as not belonging to anyone, so whoever this person is, they were spoofing the number they used. In addition, I found other people who had been harrassed by this same group so I decided to file a report with the FTC. Hopefully this will keep anyone from falling victim to a scam.

I got a call today, April 17th, from a very foreign accented man saying he was an officer and there was a complaint made against my name and SS #. He wouldn't tell me any more and wanted to connect me with his supervisor. I waited about 15 seconds and then hung up. He called back about 3 times. By this time I had gotten a partial message on my answering machine and wrote down the the info from my caller ID, which is-
?oonsocket, RI 4012166165
I called my local police and they sent an officer out to make a report. He took the number.

Please learn to spell and use proper grammar before you post lies. You sort of give yourself away as a non-US Citizen that way.

Please ask your coworkers to stop calling the US.

I will pray for you and others like you tonight that you can find a better job than making these nasty calls. You certainly can't be proud to tell your friends and family that you are part of a scam.

Ok  "Alison" (FAKE BS NAME) and "Frank"  below are both FULL OF BS. Not only can you tell you both are using a fake name by your clear lack of ability to even type proper english, but I would bet you are part of the scammers tryin to make you all look legit.

But everyone.. they are SCAMMERS because if there was really something against you, you would have received paperwork from the court. And even if its a debt they claim you owe, again, you would have received something from court and you will never go to jail over a debt. That is a flat out lie.

These LOSERS hack into records and try to act like they now have something against you.

Alsion and Frank.... YOU need to get a real job or go back to your own country or maybe you are still in that miserable place. Who knows

Cause the bottom line, they have nothing and thats why they only try to call and threaten.

If it was real, you would have papers from court and that would be that.

A lady at work got one of these calls and was almost in tears. Shes older and naive and was like I dont have bills i didnt pay but was scared she was going to get arrested.

Well, I finally convinced her she was fine and this was a scam. But it pisses me of fthat the world is so full of losers that feel like its ok to scare people like this.

Also, as an FYI, I used an air horn when they called to get them to stop. It works!!

So when you see that cell phone (which again, legitimate business have a business line) call in, get the air horn out, answer... wait for them to speak and blow!!

Works everytime!

This LOW LIFE SCUM BAG won't stop calling my fiancee about a phony lawsuit.  I called him up and used some interesting (to say the least) language and he just kept saying he was innocent and I think he called me a pig? Obviously, dont give them your info.  I had to fill out a police report and I'm sure this will never stop unfortunately. Just tell the c*** to drop dead and he will probably stop since you're clearly letting him know you're not an idiot.

I keep getting calls from these same people too... always a different person, always representing a different company, and always a thick accent. They obviously have not studied up on the fair debt collection act otherwise they wouldn't have this behavior. This has been going on for several months... I've changed my bank account and cards... but they also have my SSN.... I have fraud alerts on my accounts from when my information was compromised last year and can only assume this had something to with that. Report these people right away and don't give in to them. Remember if they were a real collection agency, they wouldn't be using this abusive behavior.

DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE A DIME!!!  They Are fraudulent they prey on women, old people and will threaten and yell at you until you cave and send the money.
File a report on the FBI website and call the police and report the incident if they are threatening you at work.   They get your information from a third party website online and throw your information out to everyone on the web they are based out of East India thus the reason you get phone calls from people who can hardly speak any English.  Change your bank accounts, phone numbers, and file a fraud report to your credit bureaus.  Unfortunately they have my social security number as well but to those of you out there that are getting calls from this number DO NOT pay it and do not give in to their bantering and threats!!

several calls today which I ignored. Messages were left.  A guy with a strong Indian accent says he's officer Joe Smith, or David Austin, or whatever.  This set of calls they are asking for my husband and they say something like 'a lawsuit has been filed against your  name or social security number.  I just delete the message at that point.  This has been happening for about 1 year.  One time I did answer the phone (may have been a different number, but the script is the same).  The guy on the phone said something about my social security number and that he had my address and phone and references. I asked how he obtained that info (during a shouting match) and he blurted out that they pay 3 cents for it!  I also asked him if they make any money.  They must be to be continuing so long.  I've tried to block the number(s) but AT&T won't let me because 'it's not a real number'. great!

I have received a call from this company stating the same as all the others about a lawsuit. I have talked to 3 different people with this company. The last call I received was from a (Frank Martin) that said if I would send in a payment through Western Union this debt would be cleared and not to call the company back in regards to the call. Mr. Martin said the Money Order would have to be sent to the country India and gave me some long name to do this with. Very suspicious especially when you say not to call the company back in regards to this.
