Same thing, got a message of a missed call on my cell from this number, since it is not from a reconized # that i know, i always ignore it. seems to me since i added my home # to the Do not call list my Cell has been hit a lot..

Got a call from this number just now @ 1.09PM. I'm in Vancouver, BC, Canada and I ignored it because it came up as 1-424-456-2883 and I never answer any calls with weird area codes.

This is the cheating number, they ask me stupid hing and then I have to pay for incoming call. May be the tellephone company know about this numbar an allow them to get money from custommers. I've got that kind of call for sometimes!

I just got a call from 424.456.2883 and i think they are just testing to see which numbers are active, then they might call from a more believable nuber hoping to scam. DO NOT ANSWER. Feb,23 2009. I work for bell mobility, it is a scam.

Didn't recognize the number so I didn't pick up, figured it was a telemarketer. They may have gotten my number legitimately as I do put it as my contact number for hotels and one was in Cancun and another was a hotel that sells timeshares. Either way I am not answering it, just adding to the information here.

Reported this number to the CRTC a while ago for unwanted/unlawful soliciting on a private number. Unfortunately, the most the CRTC can do is collect my information and determine if enough calls are made to make a formal response. This appears to be their normal response for new-ish scammers. I expect this number to be blocked from Canada soon.

I got a call from this number.. it was a recording that said something along the lines:
"Your number has been for a free prize... please press 1 to claim your prize"
I didnt do anything and it said the same speal again and then disconnected me.

i got a call from this number last night.as soon as i saw the strange area code and california show up on my cell, i just let it ring.if it's important, they will leave a message. i got two call from a 909 california area code yesterday too. same thing. i'm in hamilton , ontario.
