They called from this number today, saying they were my Husband´s cousins in Mexico. I never met them so them trying to make me remember without saying the name sounded suspicious. He sounded like my nephew though and since it´s april fools I thought it was a prank. So I said his name, but he kept on saying it was weird that I didn´t recognize my cusins... that was od because who I said is not my cousin. The funny thing is that he spoke like someone from Mexico City. Noone in my family is from Mexico city or talks that way with that accent. Anyways so I followed along, and he said he was in Mexicali with a friend, and they were going to LA to pick a car they were going to buy and later put a business, a car business.
Funny thing that my relative is 18years old, barely can pay for going to the movies. And I think his mother would had called me first, and by the way he wouldn´t be driving all the way here. So I made a simple question. He wouldn´t say his name, so.... I asked: "What´s my name?!"
He replied: "Why do you ask that kind of questions?"
I said it all sounded very suspicious so what´s my name?
And he hanged up.
It worries me not because of me, but because of other people who might fall for this prank. I am very suspicious all the time of every call, but they were very convincing. They make you guess until you say your name. I would rather say a fake name someone that is not a relative at all, and then just play along a little to see what they want. The number code is for Mexico City. 55 belongs to Mexico city and their Spanish accent sounded like from That city. Since I am from the north I can tell. The conversation was 99% in spanish, so I pretty much get this dumb pranks.
Don´t let people fool you, you have the right to ask questions, and or hang up. If it is your relative, they would understand that that´s not the way to make a call now at days!
