These "Card Account Services," people called me with a recorded voice message...I pushed the button to speak with a live person and some idiot answered and could not even tell me what Card he was calling for...only that it was for Visa or Mastercard Credit Cards...what a bunch of morons...another one shall be reported to the Attorney General...

we are from indiana too and are getting a lot of calls from this number and other fake numbers that show up on the caller id as "card holder services". i switched from verizon (which used to handle almost all of my  part of the state) and a few years ago, we switched to phone service bundled up with our insight communications company (along with cable and internet). we get a large amount of phone solicitors.

Received a call from these jerks at 12:17pm ET on February 2, 2013 With a bogus area code and phone number.

Caller ID is very useful to know when NOT to answer the phone. The Do Not Call List is totally useless in preventing these jerks from calling. Apparently the only thing that will work is if anyone knows the physical address of one of these calling centers is to notify the State Attorney Generals office to take legal action.

Telephone numbers with the prefix 555 are widely used for fictitious telephone numbers in North American television shows, films, video games, and other media, although real numbers do exist in this range such as 555-1212 is one of the standard numbers for directory assistance throughout the United States and Canada. In fact, only 555-0100 through 555-0199 are now specifically reserved for fictional use.

Telephone numbers, currently in the United States, follow what is called the North America Numbering Plan (NANP) and are 10 digits in length not including the hyphens or periods that are inserted for easier readability. Other countries may and some do use different numbering plans. Sometimes the country numbering plan which may or may not be the same as the 10 digit NANP are preceded by one or more other numbers which are "Country Codes." North American is 1 plus the 10 digits and, for example, Austria is 43, Bulgaria is 359, Nigeria is 234. For a list, go to http://countrycode.org/. The first three digits of the 10 digit NANP are the AREA CODE.  Although AREA CODE 555 is an invalid area code number, it is not an invalid EXCHANGE CODE. The 4th, 5th and 6th character of the 10 digit NANP are the EXCHANGE CODE. The last 4 digits are specific to a particular phone service subscriber/end user (you).

I am an Indiana resident as well, and we started getting "cardholders services" calls when we switched from Frontier (used to be Verizon) home phone service to Comcast. Usually there will be an automated "this is Rachel from cardholders services" then telling you to press a number to talk to an agent. We've done such a few times and tell them we want removed from their list. Naturally it wasn't ever done, and some days we've gotten as many as 7 or 8 in a day before. Just wanted to reply bc I saw it happened to you the same way it's happened to us. I didn't answer this one though, bc I now if I don't know a #, ill google it and see what it is before I answer it.

I've responded to another complainer down below, since our experiences and location are similar.  There was a single syllable of a recorded message on my voice mail from this, but not enough to identify the "card member services" that it appears to be.  Given the intended use of the 555 area code, these people are either amazingly talented in pulling off fake caller IDs or they are ATT and OWN caller id.

I am an Indiana resident and have been BOMBARDED with calls from these people and the "free security system" people.  I've politely tried every means to get them to stop...pressed the number their recording asked me to press to take me off their list...reported the numbers to every agency possible, even the SEC seeing as how I thought there might be some "best practices" rule they could use to put pressure on the buzzards...talked to the "lower your interest rate" people and discovered they couldn't help me because my interest rate is too low for them to improve:  so I asked them to take me off their call list and she assured me that would happen (NOT)...when I talked to the security system people, I was so polite and asked enough questions that they passed me on to the "manager" who in the end, when I asked why they would call when I'm on the do not call list, yelled at me asking why I would take up the time of his representative when I have no intention of buying a system and said, "...you'll keep getting calls, lady, until you buy a f_ _ _ing system!"  The rate of the calls - only a few times a week up until then - went through the roof.  There have been times when I've had two per hour.  I don't answer anymore, because I did talk to the Indiana Attorney General about them and they advised me to not answer or press any buttons because that only tells them the number is "live" and gives them encouragement.  I also learned that the Indiana Attorney General can't or won't help me with this unless I'm on THE INDIANA STATE DO NOT CALL LIST.  I didn't even know it existed.  They add names QUARTERLY, so my number won't be added until April.  That fact is beyond belief, but I'll be putting my number on there and it certainly looks like the calls will still be coming by then.  I've even had calls from the Dominican Republic, for cryin' out loud.  BTW: these calls started coming shortly after I switched from ATT to Comcast bundled services....anybody else have that problem?  I've thought that maybe Comcast sold my number to someone, but since I've recently started getting calls from ATT about their services (when I finally answered one of their calls and asked why they call since I didn't give them permission to call me and I'm on the DO NOT CALL registry, the woman said it's ATT policy that I have to be on THEIR do not call list...she said it'll take "30-65 days" for that to kick in).  Maybe ATT is mad at us for switching services and is doing this for revenge so we'll come back to them...that certainly LOOKS like a possibility!!  What do YOU think??

I got a call from this number today. Left no message. My question is, if this number really is a scammer, then why are they using the same number over and over again? This stuff gets posted, so why wouldn't it be noticed?

Received a call from this number Monday.  Unfortunately, I had gone to Chicago and was gone all day.  When I get calls that I know are from "Card Services" or Indiana FOP I just hit my talk button, then end the call without saying anything.

I just received a call from this number ID'd as "Name Not Found" and assumed it was another of those PHONY 'Card Service' scams that come in from a variety of phony numbers.  This time they did not leave an automated message but usually they do.  One time last year I actually picked up the line and opted out but of course it didn't help.  In the past I attempted to get help by contacting the Attorney General in my state of Indiana but was placed on hold and finally hung up after 90 minutes of waiting!!!!  I have not received any information on how to stop these calls.  The 'Do Not Call List' just does not work on these.  I assume it's because they are not recognized as valid phone numbers.

I get those calls all the time.  Same number, same spiel, it's very annoying. DON'T trust it.  I've talked with them  several times, and never get straight answers. I've asked for confirming email, and actual snail mail information.  I never recieve it. I expect it is a Phishing scheme. Consider them dangerous. I wish I knew where to report them. CONSIDER THEM DANGEROUS!

Been getting calls from555-000-4477.  I finally answered it and they said they were from Card Services wanting to give me a lower interrest rates on my cardd.  I asked which card and they said my VISA and MC.
I asked which one and they did not have the number available to them.  They were with a organization that lowers your interest rate with the big banking instiution by gathering several hundred accounts at a time.  Bottom line they wanted me to do a one time $799.00 fee which they would recomp me for through the interest I save several times over.  Told them I needed to speak to my spouse first and they said that they couldn't hold my information.  Asked them for a number to call them back and they would not give me one. Bunch of BS I truly believe.  Has anyone elese spoke with anyone?  What do you all think?

Just got a call from this number with name UNAVAILABLE and ignored it; no message. Obviously a faked number because area code 555 in North America is reserved for Directory Assistance applications (so says Wikipedia). By sending this phony number they circumvented my AT&T Privacy Manager service. Phone carriers should filter out false caller ID transmissions, forcing these scam artists to either show truthful info or none at all.
