On Friday, july 3 I received this text:
"Plus 4 Credit -Union has SUSPENDED your DebitCard.
To reactivate call 888 509 4019"
Today (July 7) I received this text:
"Plus 4 Credit -Union has deactivated your Debit-Card.
To reactivate call 586 439 1069"
This scam, known as "SMiShing" [SMS + phishing], happens when:
You get a text message from a party falsely representing itself as your bank.
It says that your banking web service has expired; and that you must renew this service by using an enclosed link to visit your bank’s web site to update your account information. OR:
It may also say you must call an 800 telephone number to reactivate your debit/credit card information over the telephone.
Upon visiting the fake web site or calling the fake 800 number, you're asked to provide a user name, password, or other account credentials. The scammers obtain your user name and password or other credentials once you enter this personal information onto the site or give it to them over the phone.

I have several text messages from these people from several different numbers. The crazy thing is that they are texting my husbands cell phone and mine at the same time. Numbers used are 6783250033, 9522153800, 2066918142, 8888302512, 5864391069. The email addresses used have been ikoczp@fmb.com, nqqsvz@fmb.com, kyfgpf@firstfederal.com, vrnffj@messaging.sprint.com, ewbczs@suneast.org. I dont know why the hell they have my information. I want it to stop. What do I do?

Both my husband and I have received text messages, which we pay for, from the Plus 4 credit union about cancelling debit card. I too looked up the numbers and found all the other comments. The other number is 2066918142. I get messages like these at my office a lot but since I pay for text messages, this has to stop. All replies were a series of letters@fmb.com. and/or firstfederal.com, which are both legitimate businesses.
JD of Wisconsin 2009-07-11 02:17:37 Unknown
*sigh* This was the first in a series of text messages, that I pay for mind you, from the same so-called buisness Plus4 Credit Union about a debit card I have never had that has supposedly been deactivated. IT IS A SCAM or a PHISHING venture. There is no company by this name in my town or in the surrounding areas! QUIT WASTING MY TEXT MESSAGES!!!

Hi Lizard,
I just read your message...okay, I am going to contact Sprint about these messages. I'm glad you shared this information!!! Thank YOU!!!
notawink 2009-07-11 01:14:34 Unknown
Note : I'm reposting my information after I submitted this info linked to the phone number I was asked to call. This is duplicate info, but since everybody here is posting this type of info. I wanted to add mine here too :
Text message has subject line : Urgent Notification
Plus4 Credit Union has deactivated your DebitCard. To reactivate call 2066918142.
Note : Received by text message on BOTH of our CELL PHONES, simulanteously! They are signed with different email addresses :
gpwdig@firstfederal.com
bceypq@firstfederal.com
As far as I know...this is a scammer's prank, but we have been getting them several times a day, on a weekly and daily basis. I did reply a few days ago, asking for them to please STOP messaging me (I don't have a debit card from a credit union).
Lizard 2009-07-10 04:39:36 Unknown
If you have Sprint - call and talk to tech support and they block these sons of b****hes. It is from a computer spaming cellphones.

I received the same message saying the Plus4 Credit Union de-activated my debit card..who is Plus 4? this is a scam...
Wonderphile 2009-07-08 04:00:29 Unknown
I keep getting the exact same message. CNET suggests forwarding the message to your carriers abuse line or calling customer service with the details so they can update they're spam filters.

sweet thank you very much :D

Plus 4 Credit Union has deactivated your Debit-Card. To reactivate call 5864391069.
Glad there are posts like these on Google to keep us all from falling for this junk. People that are tech-smart should find better things to do with their time! What a shame...

I'm curious if these are mass texts.
