I have had a debt collector call me and they got my unlisted phone number that I never gave out (even to my own mother) except to my own bank. These financial institutions share this information freely because they are all in cahoots!

I am staying at my elderly mothers house while she is in the Hospital/Nursing Home and she kept receiving this call on her answering machine concerning a business called Heavenly Hair and Not "this is not a marketing call, this is regarding business you are currently conducting". Wondering how they came up with my mom's phone number, using her area code, I looked in the phone book for the name and found a business with a similar name (Heavenly Hair and Nails). I assume that they used the automated phone voice and came up with Heavenly Hair and Not. I was finally home during the day and could call them back; They answered by the name of "Total Card" and said that they would remove my mom's number from their calling list. Their web site is found at http://www.totalcardinc.com They have a link that takes payments and says: Accepting Payments for the Following Accounts:  Mid America Bank & Trust Company and Monterey County Bank Credit Card Customers. They also do 1st or 3rd Party Collections among other things. Hope this helps - Here is a sample letter you can enlarge and  send to Debt Collectors:

The strange sounding man and the strange sounding woman are automated phone voices not real live people that is why they sound so strange!

Got a call from 215-717-8219  .The phone is in my name & got the message everyone is talking about but said they had business with my fiance's 16 year old son.I  called number & they said Total Card. they said that they must have the wrong person???? SAME NAME ???? how could they possibly have gotten his name with my phone #  ????  Something very wrong about this..Any card co I have ever talk to in the  past has always been very polite.  Not TOTAL CARD  this woman was very RUDE. and would not tell how this could happen then SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!!!!

Says is not a market call, but for business being conducted

Just called the main phone number for Total Card and was given 800-800-2054 to call customer service. They stated they dont know why I am getting the calls since i dont have a Total Card and said that someone from my number called for service, but would not take my number off their list and were of no help at all. Get this call about three times a week always and automated number. When I called the main number at 605-977-5800 it is a woman who says she works at the front desk. On the Total Card website it has an email address for a Paul Simon at psimon@totalcardinc.com

These guys are from TOTAL CARD collecting on outstanding debst on credit card accounts that are closed. They have to be the most ruthless, nastiest people on the planet. They called looking for someone who I never heard of and began calling me a liar. It is almost impossible to block these guys because they have about 10 different numbers they call from.

Calling for someone who never had this number - states no solicitation - been going on for a month now

After reading all the comments here, my guess is that indeed they are looking for people who cannot be located and that may indeed have some record of unpaid debt.  My mom got a message to return a call to this number just last week on her landline.  They looking for someone who hasn't even lived in this country for 10 years.

Everyone getting a call from these predators please file a complaint now to the FCC and the Do Not Call List, here is a link I hope it works.  I just reported them, please do as well.
http://www.fcc.gov/complaints   They are also using this number 657-212-2713  They harass you to see if you know whomever they are looking for, they probably use the web to find relatives and call all those with similar names, probably use phone books or directories, they then harass innocent people and basically interrogate them, the scammers can rot in hell.  Please everyone report them if they harass you as well.  When I called them back the message said they were "Total Card".

The number belongs to Portfolio Recovery in Florida. They have over 100 phone numbers. These people are very very bad. What is too bad is the people at P.R. really enjoy hurting people.

I keep getting calls from various random numbers (automated, about "business being conducted"), all of which leave this number as the call-back number.  All the calls are for someone named Leo Tanner, who I do not know.  I've reported each call to the FCC but they continue to call.  My number is already registered as a Do-Not-Call number.

My parents have been left the same message for my husband. Even if they are trying to collect debts, it sounds as if all are over the 7 year statute of limitations. Very shady business.

Have received several calls from them (of the "this is not a marketing call but relates to business you are doing with us . . .").  Directed to a "Dor Panjaleek (phonetic spelling).

I tried reverse directory search - would be in Souix Falls, SD.  Got some information that indicates the number is provided by Level 3 Communications, but that doesn't mean that the calls are from them.  Seems more likely that this is a debt collection agency.

I'm getting the same phone calls.  I have never had a Total Card and don't even know what it is.  They are leaving threatening messages on my phone, yet when I try to call back the number they leave I either get a recorded message or the person (whom I can't hardly understand) not knowing what I'm talking about.  Is there anything I can do to stop these harrassing phone calls

We have been receiving calling from 605 610 0358 for the past 6 months saying "Kaplan, this is not a marketing call. It regards business you are conducting...".  I never called back.  It is pretty annoying!  I have no business with them, have no debts, and should not be receiving these calls.

My number is in the Do not Call list.  I will report them to the Do Not Call.

WOW. Thank you everyone for putting our minds at ease. My husbands PARENTS (not living here with us) are getting calls on their own land lines from 605-610-0358 regarding hubbies "way of doing business". Please, lets do something ASAP. Got to figure out how to print all these postings out for the in-laws. After that, going to do the donotcall registry AGAIN... I really  suspect they're the ones selling our numbers out.

"Caller ID: 508-0047 (no area code)  The Robo call cut off at beginning "......business with us. Call 605-610-0358".  If they can't even show an area code on my caller ID, it is apparent they are either stupid, sneaky, or both.  I don't answer calls from or return calls to stupid, sneaky people.  Web site claims business was started in 2000 by 4 guys with over 70 years of combined credit card servicing, marketing, call center, and operations .  Really????"  According to web site for Total Card, Inc., they also provide debt collections, but that is buried on another page.  Since I don't owe anyone anything and I'm retired since early 1990's, I can't imagine what "business" I would be doing with them.  I am joining the filing of complaints on the National Do Not Call List!!

Keeping getting a call from 623-207-7273 with the same message as above.They alway leave a different number for me to call, 605-610-0358.  Someone looking for the husband's ex wife who hasn't lived here for over 15 years. Would love to give them some information but they never answer the phone. Please stop calling us. I reported them to the Do Not Call LIst. Hopefully that will help.
