I'm going to say the same thing I did about another number similar to this one. This number has been calling my mom and just breathing into the phone. Last time we had to immediately contact 911 because he threatened to kill me and my mother.

I have been getting calls from the 6128088579 number as well and its the same scam that everyone else is describing. They don't leave a message and when you call back they don't answer the phone just rings. One day I answered and the guy knew my name and claimed he was verifying my subscription of magazines.  I think he said his name was Adam and he wad calling from CSI. When I told him I didn't get magazine and was not going to pay for anything he said he must have accessed the wrong file.  I  I asked how he knew my name and number he hung up. This must be a big scam. Something needs to be done about these guys

I had the same thing happen a few years ago.  I was able to get the credit card cancelled before they charged that much.  I should have checked before but I soon found out this was a scam..

This company has called two days in a row and won't say anything if you pick up, won't leave a message if you don't, and won't answer if you called back, but I am told on the phone number comments site that it is some type of magazine subscription scam,  We are on a do not call list!  How are they getting away with calling, and more importantly, how are they getting our number?  Don't know the name of the company.

This number called today and I answered the phone and finally this girl said Mary and my last name and she had told me she is from some publishing company and wanted to know if I receive the magazines I ordered and I told her that I did not order any magazines. I asked her how were they ordered and what magazine am I supposed to be receiving and she said I don't know, because I don't have access to that. Then she proceeded to ask me if I am paying for them and I said no. I told her that there has been odd things going on and now I have a fraudulant alerts on all three of my credit buereaus and on my name. I was ready to ask her how can you not have access to my information if you say I ordered you magazine. She then hung up on me. Listen girl If you are a real publishing company, you bet your sweet butt you would have that information. You are nothing but a scammer and quit calling my number.  You call so much. Give it up. Just keep an eye on your bank information and credit cards. This girl knew my address. That is spooky, when I never ordered anything. To top it off my number is a non published number.

I haven't picked up this specific call, but I've been approached by 4 or 5 magazine companies that use this exact same tactic. They all have similar names too, like Central Reader Service, or Twin City Readers, etc.

It always started the same way: an odd call from some reader/magazine service asking if my magazines are arriving in good shape, then on to confirming my information. Suddenly, I'm listening to a list of prices for magazines I'm pretty sure I never ordered. There was one point in time when I agreed to a "free trial" which I cancelled a few weeks later. However, I lost the cancellation confirmation, and couldn't prove to them that I had cancelled. I thought I was stuck paying for the magazines.

Some time (and many credit card charges) later, I found my original "free trial" confirmation, and the cancellation that was attached to it. And guess what? The company name on that trial wasn't even the same as the company that's been charging me. This means that the magazine company who's been taking my money was never one I agreed to anything with. They had simply bought or stolen my information from somewhere and used it to trick me into believing I owed them money.

I call up the magazine service to explain all of this, and they told me I agreed to magazines, that they have a tape of me agreeing to all this, and that if I stop paying, they'd set their collections department on me. They basically turned the whole situation around so that it was my fault I agreed to magazines, and now am changing my mind about paying for them.

That was a dead end, so I filed a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau and explained all of this again. The magazine company knew it didn't have a case, so they caved in right away. I even managed to get a partial refund out of them (though some of the refund got "stuck" in their system and I nearly had to re-open the BBB case to get them to cough it up. Big surprise).

Bottom line: These calls are scams!
The magazine company considers these calls "sales calls", meaning you don't actually owe them anything at the time of the call. Saying you already have a contract with them is just a scare tactic to make you cough up a credit card number. If you agree to anything, however reluctantly, they consider that a binding contract, and that day will be recorded as the beginning of your account with them. If you accidentally agreed to something, you can call them back during their cancellation period (3-7 days, depending) and they'll cancel your account without a fuss. If it's been longer than that, open a case with the Better Business Bureau. As mentioned before, I've had 4 or 5 magazine companies approach me with this exact same tactic. I have filed 2 complaints with the BBB and had them both resolved in my favor. These companies are liars and scammers! You do not have to pay them!

I've been getting calls from this number for about a week or so.  When I would answer, there would be no one there. Today, a woman called from this number.  She said her name was Makayla and that she was calling on behalf of some company (don't remember who she said) regarding my magazine subscriptions.  She asked if I was getting them timely and in good condition because they had some complaints of people not getting theirs or in poor condition.  Well, I do get several magazines that I've ordered from a couple different companies and so I told her "yes, I'm getting them".  She then went on to say she needed to verify that they had correct information so that they could make sure I continue to get the "lowest price possible" on my magazine subscriptions.  She said, "Is your address _________ (and she knew my address)" so I said yes.  She then asked my age and profession.  Then she asked if I had used a credit card or debit card.  I said, "why do you need to know that".  She said just to make sure we have the correct information.  I said, "well what magazines are you calling about and I might know" and she said "I don't know, I just have the shipping codes".  I said, "probably a debit card. I don't know" - hoping to blow her off, but also see what her intentions were with the call.  So she then put me on hold saying she was going to get her supervisor who was going to verify with me that she had done everything properly.  She put me on hold and then came back saying her supervisor was on the other line, but that he (Dan) would be calling me back in about 30 minutes.  I haven't heard back from "Dan".  Not sure what they want or what they are after, but I don't think it is anything with good intentions!

Same experience as the above, they led us to believe it would be a one time fee.  When we discovered it was monthly, we had to contact our credit card company from which it was being automatically withdrawn and cancel the credit card number and have another credit card number reissued.  We still keep getting weird magazines to which we would never subscribe and calls from them asking if we are enjoying the magazines.  We tell them we are not paying for them and they can stop sending them.  We continue to get them even though it has been over a year now. We don't care, they don't know our credit card number anymore.  Chase was very accommodating in getting our number changed.  I'd recommend trying that option.

Hope this helps someone. I've posted it on all three numbers from which I've received calls.
Once, over two years ago, I was very, very sick with pneumonia, and this company called about "complimentary" magazine subscriptions with what I heard/assumed was a one-time fee. I was told I would receive quite a few subscriptions to sample and five magazines on a regular basis. I accepted the offer, gave them my credit card number, and $300+ dollars in charges later (yes, shock!!!), I threatened to sue them, and the charges stopped.

From them, I received three magazines that arrived on a regular basis, a stack of weird magazines for which I received one or two issues of each, and was charged a horrific amount! I was told I was locked into a contract. They had recorded the conversation and played it back to me. Amidst my coughing and hacking, I could hear myself agreeing to what she said--though that's NOT what she said to me when I was agreeing. A cut/paste job on the recording. Would it have held up in court? I dunno. However, one could prove the hoax because for $300, one could buy the entire magazine stand!

I've asked repeatedly to be put on their DNC list. I'm on the National DNC list and our state's (Kentucky) DNC list!

Fast-forward to today, over two years later: in two days, I've received five calls from 612-412-9056, 612-808-8579, and 651-256-3077. The last call (9056) showed "Alan Farnham" in the caller ID. If a charge shows up on my credit card again, I'm calling the police! These people are major crooks, and I've read a host of complaints about them on the net. Many folks have sued--successfully. If they continue to pester me, I will be the next plaintiff!

Alan Farnham aka Twin City Readers (and other names with "Readers" in the title)

OMG this number is driving me crazy.  They call 3 to 5 times a day.  I have no idea who they are or what they want. The calls come through out the day, both early and late.  This has been happening for at least a week.

I'm caring for my seriously ill husband and I do not answer these calls and they do not leave a message. What do they want!

Was there a bill passed recently that now allows sales calls to our cell phones?

Please someone find out who this is and stop them.
