Unfortunately it IS a scam. I just called the New York Commercial Bank where the check is issued from. I was told it is FRADULENT. The bank knows about it. They said to throw it out.

My mom received the same letter and looks like the check is from New York, the letter mailed was from Canada, and the person to pay the tax amount of $3,998.00 to a Pyllis Womack in Los Angeles, CA. Hmmmmmm damn if only this was for real!

I received the same exact letter in the mail today. Sounds fishy to me.

My Girl Friend received a letter stating that she won $150,000.00. She was instructed to send $3,998.00 of the enclosed check of $4899.94 to Susanna Orinion. The number 647-219-8704 that was in the letter was for Horn Halifax.
