Just got a call from this number saying they are from the Windows Tech Support and they were receiving error message from my computer and needed to confirm my IP address and they would show me all the errors on my computer.  When I told them I had an Apple that didn't run Windows, he stammered out that he must have the wrong information and hung up.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!

Saw it was from Buffalo, NY so did not answer.  I would point out that I recently purchased Spark Trust PC Cleaner and I can only presume that this is how they got my number.

I have gotten MANY calls from this company, asking me to log onto my computer so they could fix an HP problem. I only learned what they wanted the last time and told the man no. Yes, it was a call center, and most are learning English, with heavy accents, hard to understand. Yesterday, was the first time I got a woman caller and she was out right rude about the fact that I did not own, nor operate any HP or Windows systems. "I just did not understand and she could Only Help ME if I logged on." I finally told her no, that I thought this was a scam and most likely illegal. She hung up on me.

Just received a call from this number.  Said he was from the global crimes unit.  Trying to freak me out saying that I had been targeted  and that me email was sending other emails to Libya and other countries.  It was an old email address that no longer works and was canceled by the company a couple of years ago.I googled the number and came up with this page.  Quickly told him what I had done and that it was a scam and hung up.  Please be careful people.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

"it said the # I dialed is not in service" means the number is spoofed  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing  and your caller should be treated as hostile.

I had a call from this number saying it was Sam from the Technical Department regarding my windows computer. I asked him if he realized that he was trying to steal money from me that I need to feed my children. He said no, it was just his job. I then asked if he thought it was OK that he was being paid to steal my hard-earned money that I used not only to feed and clothe my own children but also used to do a lot of volunteer and charity donations and did he think it was really OK to steal my money. Silence. I hung up.

Just got one from  716 886 9358 pressed my fax machine button,  and he Faxed Off pretty fast. I never pickup if I don't recognize the caller.  Nothing discourages like that howling tone in the ear.  Or you could use a bicycle horn, if you still want to have fun, and don't have a fax machine.
I have my answering service set to 10 rings.  they usually give up after 5 or 6.  anyone serious about contacting me will leave a message, skype text or email.

I just push the fax button, and they fax right off.  Doesn't waste my time that way.  The calls come from all over the place, as these creeps have managed to get our numbers from 'call centers' outsourced by Bell and other carriers to India, Pakistan, Philippines etc.  I don't use my fax machine for much else these days, but it sure works on these poor morons.

Yes, you can stop the calls!  I received one, sometimes up to three calls a day from Canadian Pharmacy using this and a dozen other numbers. for over 3 years until I finally fought back! Here's the secret: Their computer makes tens of thousands of calls a day, routed through different numbers all over the country, only connecting you to a salesperson when you say "hello".  At the first sign of negativity, they simply hang up. It costs them nothing! You will never get off the automated call list until you order something.

So DO IT! Be sure to ask lots of questions, change your mind several times, haggle on price. Then give them your address, email and credit card number (all fake!). The first time I kept the woman on the phone for 45 minutes. After she ran the fake card number (always use the correct first 2 digits), she desperately tried to call me 10 times a day for 3 days. Finally I answered and told her the credit card was canceled and gave her another. 3 more days of calling with no answer and it all stopped - for 3 months!!

I repeated the process, this time saying I had no credit card and was in the middle of switching bank accounts. After an hour on the phone fielding my stupid repeat questions and placing a $200 order, he sent instructions (to a fake email) on how to pre-pay using Western Union. He called 10 times a day for a week to figure out why they hadn't gotten the money before it all stopped again. 3 months later, here they come again. No biggie. I'm starting to enjoy this!

They make their money by selling to one of every 10,000 calls. It takes only a tiny percentage of fake orders to waste enough time for their entire marketing strategy to go bust. The salespeople get frustrated, make no commissions and quit. The company spends $1000 training another replacement. Their phone banks are stalled taking orders that only cost them money. Try it, its fun!

Put them out of business - REPOST THIS FOR EVERY NUMBER THEY USE

Got four calls from this guy today. First 3 from unknown #, but the same middle eastern/Indian dude. Claimed he was calling from Dept of Education & was pushing info on scholarships etc. Every time I told him - not very nicely - to not call back, but then he does just that a few hours later. Knows my name & email address too. Creepy!
