First of all?It is illegal for collection agencies to continuously call and harass people and their relatives.  You should be embarrassed to say you worked for a company like this!  Get a life, why are you upset because people are venting their frustration?  All of us have received the same treatment, we have a right to say what we want.  You never know what a person?s circumstances are and why the bill wasn?t paid.  The bill they are calling me about was a fraudulent account opened with my information.  So, my advice to you is don?t judge others!

Yup - I got that as well.   Funny, how can anyone contest something when there is no information on what it's about??

I got the same call today. The number first came in as Unknown so I let it go to voicemail.  They left a message (shocking) saying they were going to serve me at my home or residence.  They told me to call 720-588-9868 and said to refer to a docket number.  Never seen such a short docket number before (I used to work with the court system).  So I called the number and they don't even answer telling you who they are, but they will figure out who you are so be careful if you decide to call them back.

They are out of Colorado (at least the number is).  The address I found was for a vacant building so not sure how that works out.

Send the following letter:

August 16, 2013

To Whom It May Concern (Don Stephens at the Portfolio Consulting Group Inc)

I have been contacted by your company about a debt you allege I owe. I am instructing you not to contact me further in connection with this debt. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law, you may not contact me further once I have notified you not to do so.

Sincerely,

A "traceable bond"?! The thug meant that he had to be paid by a fast method which nets him a commission and/or spiffs.

That email would be worthless even if it did look like proof of debt. Federal law compels this bunch to send you *paper mail* when first dunning you and when fulfilling a validation request, which you also have made on paper. The validation cannot be whatever flimsy item the agency already possesses. The FTC says it must be obtained *from the creditor* and sent to you.

You can thank Julia Forte, owner and grand mistress of this site for giving us a safe place to debunk so many frauds.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Repeating myself from the prior page ..... A payment deadline of ten days in an initial dunning letter overshadows your right to seek validation within thirty days. That's an illegal statement. It's also illegal not to disclose your dispute options as mandated by the FDCPA.

Also illegal is an empty lawsuit threat. If they're so sure of your liability, why goof around with offering a 65% discount?

Your rude collectors are "still allowed to do this" because what you permit you encourage. When your rights are violated like that, find out where the goons report to work and send that place a summons and complaint.

} At the risk of further contact with these unprofessionals, I'm sending them a letter asking for specific information.

The risk is the collector's if you're bothered again before validation is sent. You already have standing to sue, a "continued collection" violation would only help you bury them. You also have a right to limit or ban contact.

} "demand you not contact the former creditor ... "

A debt buyer or its collector is in no position to make that demand. Wouldn't do you much good anyway, but the point is presumably to force the issue of paying your new debt masters. To truly prove the debt valid the agency has to order media from the OC anyway, which will never happen.

Hey, I have excellent credit and I received this same letter.....I do not owe anyone. I was a collection agent as well and if I was a debtor who got you on the phone and you had this attitude I wouldn't pay you either! It is not a collectors job to judge these debtors or threaten them.....it is your job to come to a solution to get the debt paid off. Don't get on this forum and run your mouth about something you know nothing about. Did you get one of these letters? Then shut the hell up. There's no reason to attack people even if they do owe money to someone...it's not up to you to judge....you have no idea what people are going through in life. Shame on you. You must work for these scammers.

Debt Collector
I received a call that left a message to call the above noted number. A lady answered and claimed they were debt collectors and I was being sued by them for a past debt. I was then switched to a man named Paul Michaiski who informed me that I owed $2700 on a Dillards Card and they were going to sue me in court. He explained that if I could pay half of the $2700 today they would settle the debt.

I explained that I could not, so hen then offered to reduce the debt to $893.75, and if I put down 10% by 7/5/13 I could pay the remaining balance by 7/31/13 in two payments. BUT it had to be paid by credit card or check over the phone? I asked why not a money order, he responded that "it had to be paid by traceable bond", a statement I have never seen or heard used by a debt collector.

I asked him to send me something via email and he sent some one page document that looks as if it was just typed on word format, it just looks suspicious. His email is paul.michaisi@portfolioconsultinggroup.net, the whole thing just raised red flags and then when I searched on the internet I was happy to see this.

I don't think I will be sending ANY MONEY and thank you for whom ever started this page.

Received a call from a company called Check Systems. They said they were calling to settle a debt for a company called Portfolio Consulting Group out of Denver, CO.  They claim I owe $1500 and could settle for $508 if I sent them that amount. Told them I couldn't, they said try get the money and call back.

The letter I received back in May 2013 said I had 10 days to send payment or would stat legal action. It also said to call them to discuss an alternative payment proposal and to call 720-588-9868.

I have contacted the FBI and they said not to pay anything or to call back and check my credit report. I did and they are not on my credit report. And I have never heard of Loan.com till now.

I went through this in 2011, and thought it was over. I paid all my payday loans and am in no mood to deal with these people again.

I received a message on my phone stating that she was calling from the city of Los Angeles and I was suppose to call this number 720 588 9868 to result a debt that was owned in 2003.  She said she was going to come to my job an to my place of resident if I don't call this number within 2 days.  I called the number and the company name was Portfolio Consulting Group who had a claim against me.  Said they were going to take me to court on the debt owned. Plus, I'd have to pay for court and lawyer fee's.  Paul Michalski almost had me until I told him I had no checks and he wanted my credit card number.  I called a lawyer while he was on the phone and I placed him on hold.  He hang up after so long on hold and hasn't called back.

We're all overjoyed that you're happy with them! To everyone else finding their way here, DEMAND written proof of this outfits claims be mailed to you. NOT e-mail or fax. If they refuse to do so, they're in violation of federal law and have confirmed that they're nothing but desperate scammers. Give them NO information! If a debt collector is legitimate, he doesn't need it.
It's all very simple. If a debt collector will not provide full, verifiable proof of his claim in writing, by mail, he is a fraud. Always! NO exceptions! Ever!

I kept getting calls from unknown numbers, then finally they left a message stating that it was Don Simmons from Santa Clara County, Ca. He said he had papers waiting to be served to my house and to my work. He said I need to call 720-588-9868 and refer to some number. I think they are debt collectors . I had some debt from 6 years ago and every year is the same thing because some new collection agency gets the claim. I don't call back or do anything about it. If they are going to sue you , you will definately get something in the mail or in person but not these stupid and annoying calls.
