What happened when u called the number for fraud?

I received a call from this number with a computer saying "would you accept this collect call from . . . " a name is stated. Then when you say who,the computer says it is a call from an inmate. Do not accept since we found out it was a scam to make international calls from your cell number.

today while i was at school my wife keeps getting these calls, comes up as "unknown" on the caller id and it says its a collect call from "i believe cory" and its from norfolk city jail. i was not at the house but she said she accepted it cause she thought he said "yo" not "cory" and my brother is in jail so she thought it was him. but when she accepted it it was supposeable some guy named cory and he said mike gave him this number and then procedded on hitting on my wife. she hung up onhim and he has called at least 15 times from 6pm to 1030 pm. has anyone else accepted it???

Received a call from the number 7572135268 @ 9:39 today. Did not answer but tried calling back and the number did not ring. Weird

I recieved this phone call twice on Oct 27 2008. The person is saying the same thing as the other victims of this call.  I also recieved it 4 times in less than 10 minutes today (oct 28 2008.) I am very concerned and freaked out about these calls.  It sounds to me like the "inmate" is saying  his name is "Joe" but its very hard to say because its such a deep voice but he also says it kind of fast.  i just want it to stop

I get this call always very late at night. called back and no ring or message. I'm very concerned due to these calls. I thought it was just an ex playing now I see there needs to be an investigation because no one should be able to call u without some explanation of the strange number. I suggest every one report it so it will end! they messed up my sleep.

I called the number and the recording said it was no longer in service and it did not give another number; so, I called the other number, Phone: (704) 319-6040, listed with the Charlotte, NC area code. I got a recording but it gave a 24 hr. technical service phone number of 1-877-340-2555. When the man answered, I nicely explained the whole story. I told him that I had never heard of the company and didn't know that they provided land line service in the Norfolk / Virginia Beach area. He said they don't; they only provide phone service to businesses / companies. He also said that the company name changed from Us Lec Of Virginia L L C name to Paetec Communications. He gave me their company Fraud number 1-877-999-7705. I called it and got a recording that their hours are Mon. - Fri, 8 am to 5 pm. I also called the Norfolk City Jail to report what was happening and they told me to call 1-877-650-4250 Mon. to Fri.; so, I'm calling both on Monday. I hope all of you do the same the next time you get a call from 757-213-5268. Maybe with all of us working together on this we can stop these annoying, sometime late night, phone calls. I have been on the DO NOT CALL LIST for years and renew it regularly; so, I shouldn't be getting them. What good is the DO NOT CALL LIST if we still get calls.

If you do a reverse phone number search on www.whitepages.com and on www.411.com on the number (757) 213-5268 the following info comes up:

But, when you do the search it shows on the map where the location of the land line is and it was in Norfolk, VA near St. Paul's Blvd. and E City Hall Ave. Then, I searched for the location of the Norfolk City Jail and it is at 811 E City Hall Ave Ste 100, Norfolk, VA 23510-2711, Phone: (757) 664-4700. Strange to say the least.

I have never heard of this provider before in the area; so, I did a search on the company and found the following:

NOTE: The area code in Virginia Beach, VA is 757 but I believe it use to be 804; area code 704 covers Metropolitan Charlotte, in the Piedmont area of the State of North Carolina.

So, I'm going to start checking out and calling these phone numbers to see what I may find out. Hopefully, if enough of us start calling these numbers, we'll find out a way to stop these annoying phone calls or how to file a complaint.

I'm going to continue to research this to file a complaint about this number since we are on the DO NOT CALL LIST. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Called twice on Friday, 09-12-08 at 7:44 PM. I answered the first call. A man's jumbled voice came on that I could not understand what his name was or what he was saying. It seemed to be a recording and continued by saying that he was calling collect from the Norfolk City Jail. It said to hit 0 to accept the call and hold, 5 to refuse the call and 7 to block future calls. When I hit 7, it told me to call a toll free number to continue this process. It said the toll free number so fast I wasn't able to write it down. I hung up and it called back again. This time I let it go to the message to record it. But, it didn't give the toll free number on the recording, just the same as above. But, I'll be ready next time to get that supposedly toll free number to search it.

They called my cell phone and of course hung up and called the number back and no ring.

Gotten 3 calls from this number in the past week. Caller ID says Globe TE 2046. When I call back no ring. Nothing happens.

I also received calls from this number.  The really strange thing was the voice calling collect was that of my ex-husband.  It was extremely strange.  I called his job to see if he had called in, because I honestly believed it was his voice and that he was calling me collect from the Norfolk City Jail.  I too thought it was someone playing games, i.e. him or his ex-girlfriend Christy. I would be interested to hear if anyone has any further information on this.

I suppositely had jail calls blocked from my phone over a month ago.
My brother, Tommy Lee Stiff is still able to get through to my phone.
At this time , my talking ID caller says he is at the Norfolk City
Jail, while Va. Beach, Va. shows on the ID caller.
I always refuse these annowing calls that can number up to ten a day.
These are collect calls by a recorded announced.

me and my daughter get the same calls she says its the norfolk jail house and seeing as my grand babys father is in there it makes sense to us that hes just trying to harrass us

We continue to receive many calls (several a week for the last several months) from this number at all hours of the day and night.  The latest calls included one at 2am and then 4 consecutive calls tonight as if the caller is hanging up and immediately dialing the number again.  Normally we don't answer, but the few times we have answered, the recorded voice tells us it's a collect call.  How do we get the calls to stop?  Any thoughts?

I have gotten calls from this number the last three days, one at 1 pm, another at approx 2 pm today and 11 pm today. After reading on here that it might be the Norfolk jail I will be calling to see if I can place the home # on the do not call list.

I received a message on my answering machine from 757-213-5268 for a collect call. Funny thing was I also received a collect call from the city jail on my office number the same day. I don't know if it was from the same number or not.

Just got another call. This number.. 757-213-5268 is being used by inmates at the Norfolk,VA JAIL.

I keep getting a call every week from this number and it's a collect call, so I would think it's someone from a jail or some place.  What's up with that?  Did anyone else get this crap???

WHEN I CALLED THAT NUMBER NOTHING HAPPENED, NO RINGING OR ANYTHING, WHAT'S WITH THAT? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE NAME OF THE COMPANY IS?
