I recieved a phone call from 1-760-651-1117 and a man left a message telling me if I didn't return this call to a Grant Smith that he wishes me best of luck and good luck to my kids.

Thank you very much, this info saved me a lot of worries! I called the 989-497-0580, and sure enough Doug Zloto (who was very pleasant) picked up. He informed me there are over 4,000 victims of this scam, and assured me I wouldn't be arrested!

I just receive a call from 760-651-2169 and they told me i owe 600.00 and if i didn't pay right now that the police was going to come to my job and take me to the court office and i was going to have to pay over 6,000 in court fees. He said he was calling from the cyber crimes office and the man was very very nasty. He was yelling and everything its a shame how they try to take people money

call from 760-868-0970 mr. rodgers,
insists that $600.00 was deposited in account in oct. of 2008. My account was not even opened until 2009. reported fraudulent collection attempt with BBB and local authorities. Mr. Rodgers went on that I would be arrested the next morning for failure to pay and it would cost me over $5000.00 if I could not resovle the matter by a payment. I never have had any business dealings with sonic cash

This is a scam. I wrote to Sonic Cash (the ones they said I had a loan with) and they said:

"We're sorry to hear about the call you received.  There is a group of people who are calling from outside of the United States stating to be affiliated with Sonic Cash.  This group has no affiliation with our company, and you have no debt with them or us for that matter.  The tactics and threats they use, are to scare you into paying them,  which is an illegal tactic under the rules outlined in the F.D.C.P.A. (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act)  We ask that you report this phone call to Doug Zloto who is the Secret Service Agent from the Department of Homeland Security.  His phone number is 989-497-0580.  Again, we're sorry to hear you were contacted by these people, and please be assured they have no affiliation with our company.

If you are willing to, you should also contact your state's attorney general's office, the local sercret service office for your state (if available) and the local branch of the FBI.  I cannot remember from your posting, but have you also contacted your local police yet?  I also filed a report with the FTC yesterday and place a fraud alert on my credit reports, etc., etc.

Take all of the steps that I have mentioned.  The Secret Service agent that I am working with said that this is a newer scam and the most aggressive that he has heard of.

Today, I received a call from this number from a Brad Nicsole saying that I needed to call them immediately and that they are calling on behalf of Sonic Cash.net from the state attorney's office.  Supposedly, I owe them money and am being brought up on criminal charges (both of which I know are not true).  I did not speak with them directly -- this was all left on my voicemail at work.  I know the whole situation at this point because this has been going on for 3 days!!!! This started on Thursday, September 24th and has continued with roughly 3-4 voicemail messages a day.  I had answered my phone in my office on Thursday night and had a man yelling at me in a thick Arabic accent demanding that I send money now or I will face the consequences...

At this point, the local police are involved and have been calling them to tell them that they are being investigated on harassment charges.  The local Boston branch of the Secret Service are also involved.  A word of advice to anyone with caller ID...DO NOT answer your phone for any unknown telephone numbers!!!!  I am fortunate that they are only harassing me at work and I have caller ID.  While it is very frustrating to have to send all of my calls to my voicemail, at least I don't have to engage in these harassing conversations.

I have gotten the same message as eagle they had been calling from the 760-651-1117 number now it has changed to 916-691-1120 with the call back number as the 760#.  This is the same foreign voice uses a different name every time if you can understand him. He has been calling my office 3-4 times a day and my cell phone and leaving messages. I just keep ignoring the threats as I have done nothing wrong and he does not mention that I owe any money or what he is calling in reference to.....this is getting ridiculous.

I had wrote yesterday 9/24/08 that I received a call from this guy.  He called back again today from a different number which is 9169151120; however, he still gave the 760-651-1117 as the call back number.  He did reach me at work and gave me the same threats as yesterday but the court date is now tomorrow instead of today.  I have been debating closing my bank account since I am afraid that he will do an electronic withdrawel.  He had my last four of my social and he also knew what bank I dealt with.  He did not ask for money yesterday and I did not give him a chance to ask for money today.  Has he asked anyone for money yet and has anyone had money taken out of their bank account yet?  I just would like to know if this guy is just harassing people or he is looking for money.

I received the same exact call from 760-651-1117.  I could not understand the gentleman speaking.  He was foreign.  He said that I was granted a loan back in 2006 and never paid it back.  He stated that I would be picked up the next day at my home or workplace at 11 a.m. and would be brought to the courthouse and stand before a judge -- a case had been downloaded against me and I was going to face the consequences.  I immediately went to our local police department and processed a formal complaint.  The police investigated the call -- during the investigation, the same caller contacted me again, threatening that I was going to face the consequences of not paying this loan back [a loan which I never took] -- we again contacted the police.  The police called the number from which the man called -- the foreign man argued with the officer -- did not believe that he was a policeman -- and was extremely arrogant. The next day I received another message from this foreign man, again asking me to call him back at 760-651-1117 -- indicating that I will face the consequences of this case and if I didn't call back he wished me the best of luck. We contacted the police again.  Upon investigation, this whole harrassing incident is a scam.  Someone should find these frauds and lock them up.  They upset and harrass innocent people, good people, people who live their entire lives doing the right things, then get attacked by such vile cruel scam artists.

After this experience, I am thankful to have such dedicated officers of the law supporting and serving this town.

This is a scam.  DO NOT give them any money.  Call sonic cash at 1-866-574-2274 and report this to them.  They are very nice and will give you a number of a person to call regarding this scam.  If anyone who gets a call from these people would call Sonic Cash, then hopefully they will catch the thieves.

This same idiot called me claiming that i took out a pay day loan and never paid, he also gave me the scare (so he thought) by saying that the police is going to bust my door and take me to the court house, but yet he can't verify what he is claiming i owe.

Hi, I got the same call as Patty today at my place of business.  I am in the process of Bankruptcy and am wondering if any one above is as well?  Could they be getting our information from the filing since it is public?

I received a voicemail yesterday and two phone calls today from this number stating as above that I had an unpaid loan and would be arrested tomorrow on 3 charges ;Federal banking regulations, collateral check fraud and something else. I immeditaely called my attrny who spoke to the attrny generals office, the on call A.D.A as well as the local police department, none of them of course had any record of these charges. I have been advised to keep an accurate record of the phone calls and the A.D.A has suggested that we may be able to bring federal charges against this company should we be able to collect enough information about the company. At the end of the day this is harrasment and it has definitely ruined my day. Thanks to all you have posted.

I received a call from this number 760-651-1117 that I took a loan out from Sonic Cashnet from an foreigner by the name of Ashley Brown(male voice) saying that he was from a lawyer's office and that there was nothing I could do that the police were going to arrest me tomorrow for bank fraud, collateral check writing and something else(3 coutns).I asked how much I owed and he said I would find out tomorrow when the police pick me up.I immediately stated to him if he couldnt fax any proof of anything to me I would disconnect the call which I did but before I did he said good luck to you and have your husband to get the bail money together or something along those lines. I was too upset. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE FTC AND I AM LOOKING TO FILE MORE COMPLAINTS BECAUSE ITS SIMPLY NOT RIGHT.

I received a call from this number 760-651-1117 that I took a loan out from Sonic Cash from an ignorant foreigner saying that he was from a lawyer's office and that there was nothing I could do that the police were going to arrest me tomorrow for bank fraud or something like that.  I was waiting for him to ask for money but he never did and I was anticipating that he would call back later and ask.  I went to the Police station to find out more.  The police officer called the number but determined that it was probably a scam.  The officer gave me the number to economic crimes division.  The economic crimes division said that there wasn't much they could do since it's more on the Federal Level but the Fed's will probably not get involved since the person is probably out of this country.  I appreciate how my local police handled this and I realize that this out of their jurisdiction but is there someone that can do something about calls like this?  It is obvious that this person is trying to scam people and will not stop until he is caught.  By the way, thanks to the other people that reported this before me, I feel better that it is only a scam.
