Got a call from this number when I was not home.  Only way I knew is my answering machine was beeping because of 1 new message, but as usual, it was a clicking sound followed by a dial tone that was recorded.

I tried to call the number back after seeing this message board and eliminating probability that it was someone legitimately trying to get in touch with me about something.  I was very curious what solicitor it was/is because they are supposed to identify themselves on caller ID and mine read "Unavailable".  As part of FCC regulation with Do Not Call (DNC) List and such, non-personal calls are not allowed to block their identities on caller ID.  

Even if you're on the DNC list, certain companies are allowed to call still such as those hired to take polls, that you've established a previous relationship with or solicited information from in addition to fund raising solicitation calls for non-profit organizations such as the Fraternal Order of Police and the Police Benevolent Association which fire up again this time of year to ask for money.  However, you can ask them to take you off their list but get their name and business name in nice tone first in case you are called back again so you can make claim to FCC.

Any way, I called back because sometimes they have automated messages that answer and may provide an option to be removed from their list by pressing a certain number (or calling their customer service dept.).  Even solicitation calls for police are just telemarking companies hired by these organizations and they are happy to remove your number and clean their list so as to not waist time having their auto dialer continue to call people who have no interest in participating, especially if long distance charges apply.  

If you don't answer, they will assume you are at work, school, out and about, etc. and will continue to call to try and catch you at home, possibly increasing the frequency of calls per day since people who are out because of work often are better givers if they can be reached. . . so you may want to consider picking up to have your number removed or try calling back as a live person will almost never answer incoming calls on the number displayed on caller ID.

i got a call from this number but when i picked up it was silence.  A bit creepy.

I got a call from this number and the man(I won't call him gentleman,because he was anything but),asks for someone who had my number previously. I told him he had the wrong number, he repeats my number and says he DOESN'T have the wrong number, perhaps the wrong party. He gets smart first, and proceeds to ask for money for the Veterans. I told him that I already support the Vets, and he says "if you had, I wouldn't be calling". I hung up. This organization has the rudest people calling and requesting money. Well they won't get mine!

Never anyone there when I answer. This seems to be coinciding with other repetitive calls I'm getting from an "Unknown Name, Unknown Number" I have a feeling that the UN/UN is my local FOP trying to solicit donations. I feel bad, I usually support them but I just don't have it to give anymore! I should probably just answer & tell them to give up. Maybe then the intrusive calls would cease. =-{

I just received a call from this number and answered.  A man said he was calling from the Veterans and went on a speil how they want to help the vets etc. and did I want to help them.  I stopped him and said yes I want to help the Vets but you'll have to send me something written to see first.  He went on to say he'd gladly send me a receipt for taxes but could not send me brochure. I said I have no idea who you are or where you are calling from only what you are telling me.  He then got annoyed and kept trying to work on my sympathy for vets and I again said I would not just take his word when I really have no idea who he is.  He got very angry said something nasty and slammed down the phone.  I doubt these are legit people collecting funds for vets.  Never buy anything solicited over the phone.

The same thing. I called back twice and received and there was no answer, not even a ring.

They mentioned my first name and said that they were from the Veteran's fund
I told them that I couldn't talk

They left no message.  I called the number back and it just disconnects you without even ringing.  Could be a collection agency as I get many of those calls.

Left a bizarre message that was unintelligable( no suprise there!).
Guess some people have nothing better to do with their time!

They keep calling and calling....I turn the fax on when I see this number on the ID. They must be gluttons for ear distress.

Don't ever answer the phone if you don't know who it is! Play with them, don't let them play with you! Once you answer, your're in their territory.

Have no clue who it was - they didn't leave a message.
