Is it still illegal for a debt collector to harass you at work?

A very well spoken guy named John Lepore called and made himself look like some sort of credit consular. But when I explained to him that my debt was cleared with the original creditor and I don't owe anything, he's true voice came out. I think he must be some sort of tug or gang member, and can not control himself when challenged, so he goes of the polite script somebody has given to him! Oh also, CSC is known for buying old debt (paid or not) and trying to harass people to collect 10 cents on a dollar or something.

I tried to report CSC (San Diego, ca) many times to the Federal and State agencies, but I think they're only interested in collecting information for some report. So I would say just ignore them.

This guy named john lepore identified himself as sort of asset officer, so I listened to what he had to say. But he turned out to be another bottom feeder debt collector from CSC that's been bugging me about a debt that I settled 5 years ago. But as they're concerned since they bought it, I have to settle with them separately.

By the way, reporting this outfit to the Feds is waste of time. Try local authorities in San Diego California.

This is a scam and I will report them to the authorities as no one is to be calling your place of work. Fortunately I work at the Sheriff's Office.

they called from 619 735 0296 ron white wanting to review the details of a file he received in his office regarding my name and social and fraud ...laughable...My husband and I suffered from this identity theft for years, and it turned out to be a family member (stepmothers middle son)..the man died and it stopped but he left a wake of debt to fight and it pops up on the real occasionally. Usual easy to prove away(we been in the same state for decades and the debt and attached addresses pops up from different states  easy to prove with our work history just a lot red tape GGRRRR) these csc people are looking for good people in debt that want to pay and clear up their credit and trick them into paying it to them...people ck your credit these scammer will start reporting  bad credit and its not real...p.s. great info on here lets keep it up

I recieved a voice message on my work phone from this company saying they were credit solutions they are calling to collect a debt and for me to call them back at 1(800) 250-8877 ext: 7236 The funny thing is that the guy never once said what his name was. I just wished these dumbe people will stop calling my place of work.  Isn't it against the law to call your workplace. I never heard of this company nor do I owe anyone money.

ext 7471 got a call from a nice young lady who helped me close out my account at a reasonable rate gave them all my information a day later sent them an email and got my paid in full letter right after
credit solutions settled my account and reported it paid in full
they are not a scam and they work to help people who care about their debts

I just posted and then she called me at work. I told her she was a scammer and she said she would send to her legal department.

I've been getting several calls a day from "unknown" caller with no message.  Today I received another one but this time she left a voice mail.  She said it was Cynthia Shield @ CSC FINANCIAL to please call her about my "credit" application (I did not apply for any credit) and she had a few questions.  The number she left 800-250-8877 x7221.

its a collection agency and they are not fraud.. they are for reals and the address people are posting on here is not it... and the 1099c look it up they are entitled to file it and call about it!! duh do ur research people!

They called my work place and left a message with another co-worker. Message read:

they called me tonight this is how the call went. Hello is Catherine Hudson there? This is Catherine Hudson, this is ??? from CSC, I am calling for your SSI number for the IRS regarding a 1099 C form, When she finally paused for a breath I asked her name! She would not repeat it. I asked what this was regarding? She demanded my SSI number! I told her I would not give her the number, she said they would make trouble for me. I asked for a supervisor! Mr. Brown came on phone, gave me the same garbage, I asked for a phone number to call back! so I could call the IRS to confirm that this company was acting on behalf of the IRS. He refused, threatened to make trouble for me! and told me quote (first of all your not going to call the IRS, so lets get that off the table right now!) I said you don't know me and I will call the IRS. He threatened again demanding my address and SSI number. I told him he would get no information from me till I could verify that they were acting on be half of the IRS. Again he said they would make trouble for me. and ended the  call by saying this is a attempt to collect a debt and hung up..

CSC - Call from Cynthia at extension 7221 and another call from Mrs. Shields from  another number they use 858-467-7221.  Said there has been activity on an account with my social security number and to call her immediately.  Says she is with CSC with no other details.  I do not owe any debt to these people...

This Guy Mr. Moreno keeps on calling my work and leaving messages that he is from CSC Tax Department, calling about my 1099. I dont even file 1099. Keeps calling my husband's phone and my cellphone on a daily basis . Not just daily basis but morning noon and night aside from the messages left in my work place. Very stressful knowing that ve are not allowd to accept personal phone calls in my work.

CSC Financial has been harassing my mother, so I finally called them today.  I know for a fact that my mom does not have any debt, because she doesn't handle any of the financials, never has.  They would not say why they were calling and said it was a "private" matter.  If my mom owed these a-holes money, why don't they just send a bill via U.S. mail.  

I filed a complaint with the FTC today.  If they call my mom again, I am going to provide their information to our local news team.  Scammers who target poor senior citizens for identity theft.

KB is not a liar. I found the same info he/she did. I don't have any open credits. They ARE scammers! I think you might work for them!

your a liar and that company was rated A plus and they have a license they own the hole building and you just pissed cause you owe and they caught up with you butt so just take care of your stuff. I had a debt with them and they worked with me and cut it in half so i think they are great at what they do and really try and work with you..

Someone gave my home telephone number on something to to with her debt.  I don't know why, but, I am upset.  I have good credit and it is getting to the point of "harassment".  I tried to be nice and call the company at the # they left and the guy was totally rude!  They have the wrong person at the wrong number!  I told him he was rude and I was just trying to do the right thing by letting him know he was calling the wrong place!  He said he was going to keep calling till I gave him the right #! I told him he best not call me again or I would file a police report!  What idiots!

says his name is John, ext 7410 csc tax reporting and compliance dept. other # associated w/the number 858-467-7200. DO NOT ANSWER THIS CALL FROM EITHER NUMBER. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WANT YOU TO PROVIDE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER OR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER. THEY SAY THEY ARE DEBT COLLECTORS, and they demand you pay your past debt to them. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. ONCE YOU TALK TO THEM, THEY WILL HARASS YOU UNTIL YOU GIVE IN. THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS NOT ANSWER THE PHONE.

I was able to get their mailing address, and when I called the city business license department, they had no record of this business. And when I google mapped the address, it showed this place in a strip mall with a mailbox center in it.

I received a call from "CSC Pre Legal" telling me my name was red flagged with my social security number and scheduled for deposition if I didn't call them back. And after reading all the information on their poor practices, even from some of their employees, I think I will pass on calling them back!

Don't call them back, they are NOT lawyers, they are bottom feeding debt collectors.
Just ignore it.....if they were TRULY going to press charges and take action, they would have already sent the matter to court. They are trying to verify phone numbers.

Plus roto dialing by collection agencies is illegal, you can report them to the FTC.

They are using a "roto-calling" scam to call people and verify phone numbers. The first call comes from 1-585-467-7258 (that is the automated message).
If you call back to tell them to stop calling you per the FDCPA, VERY RUDE people answer and if you hang up, they call you right back from 1-858-467-7200 and they then curse you out.

They are bottom feeding scum.

If they truly had a "legal case" they were "about to file on", they would NOT be calling you, they would just file it and be done with it.

They use scare tactics to get people to pay.

They are a**holes who will end up reaping what they are trying to sow by harassing people and not following the Fair Debt Collection Act law.

I think this number (800 250 8877) can be connected with (858 467 72420. I don't think they are legit. Just mining for data.

Called my place of work and told the secretary of my boss they HAD to speak to me about a legal matter and that she was with a pre-paid legal company doing work on my behalf....whatever.  I have a copy of my credit report and I have over a 740 - I owe NOBODY.  AND THEY KEEP CALLING, AND CALLING, AND CALLING....
