It is American Express's pay by phone number: 800-IPAY-AXP. I don't like using "Debt Collector" as the call type below but that's the only one that applies.

Got a call this morning on my cell.  I answered but no one responded and the call ended.

they called twice and did not leave a msg and you call back and phone does not ring . i am on amex

Yes, it's American Express, and yes, I owe them money that, due to medical issues, I'm not able to pay all at once, but they were AWESOME working with me on a payment plan.  This is just my reminder call each month, and I basically ignore it.  

American Express has been incredible to work with every time I've called (much better than other credit card companies, which is why this is the one card I haven't and don't plan to cancel), so if you're getting unwanted calls, give them a call and ask them to remove your name from their list.  If you're upfront with them, they'll be happy to work with you.

American Express, pay by phone number.  Got several calls with no message and I have never had an account with them!  Called them and they removed my phone number.

I'm on a payment plan......so they still hassle you....geez

If you have an Amex card it is a reminder to pay your bill, if you don't have an Amex card some moron gave them your phone number either as a contact or to try to avoid them.  Good luck trying to get them to stop calling you, we've been trying for two years.
